go the Service Meeting, walk up to the podium and make the annoucement yourself
That would certainly be satisfying
hey, folks,.
we're moving next week, and i've been thinking about sending a pro-active do not call letter to the approprate congregation, just so i don't have to mess with them calling.
is there an easy way to find out which congregation's territory my new place is in?

While I'm at it, I thought I'd be able to find sample letter that says, 'Do not call at this address, do not call to see if we're still there or interested, check the tax records to see if we still live there rather than an excuse to come to our door, we will prosecute, etc..."
I can't find it. I know somebody has posted that on this site. Help?

yesterday, i experienced a tragedy in my family.
my cat of 7.5 years simone' died.
two days ago i left for work and she seemed fine.
Our condolences. Losing a kitty is awful.
i just had a jw come to my door and i had to threaten her to get her to leave!
i told the woman right off i was 'apostate' and had no intention of changing it.
she kept asking me personal questions which i told her were none of her business and she said she would have the elders come by and i told her that if they came by the better be wearing bullet proof vests!
Send a registered letter to the congregation that holds your territory, and cc it to Bethel. There's a copy of one of those floating around here, isn't there? That says your address is to be considered a Do Not Call and that they are not to call back to check if you're "still not interested"?? And that you'll prosecute if they continue to harass you.
Then put a big sign on your front door that says, "Jehovah's Witnesses! This house is a Do Not Call. Leave or face prosecution!" (then stand in the doorway (so they can see you, but with the door shut so they can't talk to you, or your dog) and call the police if they show up)
the florida supreme court has ruled that as long as they can pay for it, children as young as 12 can receive elective plastic surgery without parental consent.
sound far fetched?
not really, considering that the florida courts have indeed ruled that 12 year olds can get an abortion without parental consent.
I understand what you're saying, but how is a 12 year old going to pay for plastic surgery on their own anyway? You're talking thousands and thousands of dollars!
The same place she would get money for an abortion...the boyfriend (or the grandparents, or another relative - think about a situation where the other relatives are having a serious conflict with the custodial parent).
On the other hand, if you think about it another way, you might not be on the parents' side.
What if the child has a disfiguring injury or birth defect that was not necessarily life-threatening and the parents' religious belief would not allow plastic surgery to correct it? What if grandma and grandpa or someone else would pay for it? Should a child live through their teenage years disfigurement because the parents don't believe one should "undo God's will" (there are several extreme fundamentalist sects that would not allow corrective surgery, braces, hearing aids, and the like), until they're 18?
It's not always for a nose or a boob job.
i have noticed that when the ladies post pictures of "hunks" these guys have no body hair.
when i was a gymnast many of the guys would cut their hair real short and shave their chests and stomachs and oil them to get a better, more defined look.
i always thought chest hair was "manly" so i never did it.
My Thunder had no chest hair when we got married but with each time we have sex he gets a new oneDoes he have any space left on his body that doesn't have hair?? Steven had, like 3 chest hairs when we met (he was 20, now 41). They expanded...he now has what I suppose is a moderate amount of chest hair down to nipple level. His back is smooth except for the "occasional random long hair" ...he says that the hair on his forehead is slowly migrating down to his ass with occasional stops on his back . And he has a really weird patch of light hair, maybe 2 inches x 3 inches, that just showed up on the right side of his back about waist level. I don't know when it popped up, I just discovered it there a couple of years ago and it hasn't changed. Right now when I see a guy with really heavy back hair I think it's kinda gross...but if I liked the guy it probably wouldn't matter to me one way or another. It's the whole package that counts more than something like that.
i just returned home from a nightmarish trip to chicago.
i came in peace, and was shit on by my aunts and a cousin.
what they did was unforgivable.
wicca is probably the oldest form of religion in existance.
ummm, I hate to disappoint or upset you but I'm afraid not.
Wicca is a modern attempt to re-create the spirit and beliefs of pre-Christian cultures. It used to be (10-20 years ago?) common for some Wiccans to claim that Wicca as it is today, has an unbroken history going back thousands of years (Gardner tried to claim that when he put things together), but it has been pretty clearly proved to be untrue. The majority of Wiccans I know accept this. Scholarship wins out over myth, I'm afraid.
Most Wiccans I know who strongly believe in Wicca's "ancient" history, don't even practice Gardnerian Wicca, they are eclectics.
Animism or animatism would be the oldest form of religion. For unbroken lineage of myth and practice, you'd probably have to go to Australia.
