Sending your DA letter to the newspaper would be a unique move. Having them publish it would embarrass the hell out of the local JW's. If you go this route ensure it's worded to where the Watchtower can't come back on you for slander or libel.

Disassociating: Is now the time ?
by Phizzy ina couple of thoughts on da ing that i have just had, prompted by the latest cases coming to court over historic child abuse.. my first thought was, although i have resisted being df'd, and have not voluntarily da'd for family reasons, i am now thinking perhaps it is too embarrassing to not publically be disassociated from this paedophile paradise.. i feel i wish to let the community know that i have nothing to do with the jw's anymore.. my second thought is that if i do decide to take the step of da ing myself, i will not send the da letter to the congregation elders, but to the local newspapers, so that my reasons for da ing are known to all jw's locally, straight from me, not from twisted rumours.. i may have to pay to have it published, but so what.. thoughts ?.

I'm done hiding who I am with my family
by cognac ini'm pissed that i got scared the other day and didn't just tell my mom i was celebrating halloween.
i was caught off-guard when she asked what i was doing and felt that fear they instill in you.
hate that i still feel that way when i shouldn't.

When you are an LGBT it truly must take a weight off to open up and explain who you truly are.
Although it likely is very difficult for your family to understand, your sexual orientation is your business and noone elses.

LOL.....I thought she was a married woman talking about being pissed for not telling her Mother her and the kids celebrated Halloween. I think that's what she is done hiding who she is from family. LOL

I admire your courage. Just be careful with it, since your hubby and family are still true believers.

Today's watchtower. Why no emphasis on doctrine?
by kneehighmiah ini believe the jws are morphing into a mainstream social religious group.
we've long been taught we had the truth due to our suoerior doctrine.
it appears that the gb knows that their teachings are ludicrous and indefensible.

We put a lot of emphasis on the writings of one socially inept little nerd back in those days. What if we had known that one day all that "deep" stuff we studied would be dumped? Just imagine all those book studies I had to sit through as a kid - wasted. I could have stayed home and played like all the other kids, or at least done something that wasn't a waste.
.
What a colossal waste of life and time. The Tuesday Book Study at the house I went to as a teenager was the longest hour in the history of man. The droning on & on from the pages of those big bat-shit crazy doctrine books. The house had no AC. The beatings I would get for skipping or being made to go. It was suppose to be the truth that would help you survive 1975. Now it was nothing more than lies. It's now 2014 with new lies.

On the surface JW's may be able to convince some that they have the truth, but a deeper look shows their falsehood. If they mentioned not going to war in today's Watchtower then on the surface that may sound reasonable, but then you think of the Roman soldier in the bible who because a Christian. Few JW's make the connection between JW's up into the 70's going to prison over neutrality, but now the Watchtower Society allowing alternative service. A deeper look into anything the JW's use to show they have "the truth" always shows them to be a hypocritical, made-man, man-led religious organization.

I guess if dancing to Footloose on the platform is acceptable nowdays, then a human normal thing like beards are acceptable now.

This will be interesting. Only in wacky Watchtower world would a normal thing like wearing a beard cause the reactions we most likely will hear about.

been fading for 2 years NOW I CAN LEAVE!
by nowwhat? inthe sexual abuse coverups are now getting traction.
i can leave now without retribution from friends and family.
i can simply say i will no longer represent an organization that protects pedaphiles as rampant as the catholic church!

Depends on what you want to accomplish. If you wish to maintain associations, and not get DF'd or labelled an apostate you need to make sure you don't sound like you are making a defiant statement. Bringing the organization's name up on their pedophile stand could get the elders rabid against you. Good luck.

Meeting for not paying assembly fees???!!!!
by Kool Jo inhey folks......has anyone else heard of, or experienced this before?.
i visited by parents over the weekend and accompanied them to their assembly....same rubbish spoken about since ive been born....obey the gb, donate your last penny, no education and be a pushover.. anyways, our assembly hall has lush vegetation and scenery, so i was more focused on that....i started dozing off after lunch, so got up and went walking, saw some older folks from the congregation i grew up with.. upon the conclusion of the assembly, wed normally leave out right after the prayer ends so as to avoid the traffic.
however, for this assembly he told me that hes gonna be a few minutes with the elders and branch representatives...so a few minutes turned into an hour..

My dad is an elder, and the other elders from the congregation met with the C/O and branch reps…they were told that their congregation is way behind in their contributions/donations to the assembly hall fund…our assembly hall is up for sale and we’re expected to revert back to renting stadiums ect… for our “spiritual activities”.
My dad also mentioned that C/O had a harsh tone.....
What's probably funny is the corporate Watchtower goons above the CO are probably threating to break his legs because one of his circuits isn't coming up with their protection money. LOL

The Watchtower Borg will get their money. Guilt and theocratic threats are very powerful weapons. You are right about the "no higher education" doctrine biting them in the ass. However, they don't seem to be getting away from it anytime soon.
