when jws accept new light they must, by default, accept that what they were teaching was false.

they allow themselves the luxury of error so long as it is in the pursuit of better understanding.. .

you would think this scenario demands that allowance be made for other religions with false teachings, but alas, no.

The Watchtower religion claims you have to have "the truth" in order to be the true religion and that will lead to your everlasing life.

JW's do not have "the truth". You cannot change your beliefs as much as the JW's have over the years and have any credibility in claiming to have "the truth".

Besides how bat-shit crazy some of the recent new light" is like over-lapping generation & 8 GB members now only the F&DS.....the thing that really bothers me is how can the Watchtowe Society claim they preach the "good news of the Kingdom" worldwide, then change major doctrinal beliefs? (the worldwide preaching work claim of the JW's is a joke as we all know) You would have to do a complete worldwide do-over in their preaching in order to tell people about the new light truth. An open look into JW history shows this to be the case over and over again. I've been out since 1995 and the JW religion is very different than what it was back then.

P.S. I just cannot grasp any logic in how the Watchtower has been telling us all these years that Armaggeedon will happen any minute now.....then for the Watchtower God to suddenly change important doctrinal beliefs just right before the end. Like all this time has gone by and the stupid fools of the Governing Body just now understand that they alone are only the F&DS? This make no sense why an all-intelligent Watchtower God would do this.

Perhaps you should write the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses and question them as to why they discourage higher education that would help their membership with writing, spelling and matters concerning proper grammar. You can give them your personal testimony how JW anti-education policies have hurt you and held you back.

Victory in Defeat !

maybe you guys remember that in january, i shared here our situation with the ongoing conflict with the ms that was conducting the wt study in our home.

well, my parents decided to talk to the elders about it.

the last time he held the study in our home he really said some insulting things during it.

That elder & MS are both assholes! Sounds like you are making progress getting your parents out of the cult.

Wow.....if you thought the MS was insulting in your house just wait until he gets your family in HIS HOUSE to study the Watchtower.

If the MS says anything insulting......right then and there you should call him down on it. It will force your parents to pick a side. I'm bettting they will side with you against the MS asshole. On the way to the WT study get your parents fired up against the MS asshole. Maybe he will finally offend them enough to push them over the edge to leave the JW cult.

During the day rent a car and sightsee. Red Rock Canyon just outside of town, Zion National Park 2.5 hours away in Utah, and Hoover Dam/West Rim of the Grand Canyon can be reached in 3 hours. All have spectacular scenery. Plenty of time to get back Las Vegas before night and enjoy the strip, casinos, restaurants & shows.

Where Is All The Money Going from Sales of WTB&TS `s Real Estate Properties.

what governmental requirements are their for full disclosure of the proceeds from sales of property made by a not for profit organization such as the wtb&ts.. how does the wtb&ts explain their charitable status when they do not provide any charitable benefits to anyone , when all their members , jehovahs witnesses are not employed by them , they are just volunteers.. does american law allow religous institutions to hide monetary transactions or is their full transparency regarding their use of their money.. how can a multi million $ publishing company , engaged in a multi million $ real estate organisation be considered as a not for profit organisation .. is their anything like an auditor general in the usa that needs to investigate these things ?.

Investment earnings made by a non profit org need to be re-invested in the org to remain non-taxable.

I could see the Watchtower Society pulling some sort of financial "theocratic warfare" in order to avoid paying the Government any tax if it came to it. With the legal & financial departments they have, they could easily organize and arrange for an elderly WT zealot company man to "steal" multi-millions and hide it in secret Watchtower bank accounts to avoid an possible taxes. The "con-man" (wink wink) hides in foreign countries living as a JW under an alias until he dies to be resurrected into Paradise. Or...if he's caught he says nothing to the Police and enjoys a Bethel like experience in prison until he dies. Yeah, it's far-fetched, but I would put nothing past the Watchtower Society when it comes to protecting & keeping their money. The Watchtower leaders could reason away anything illegal under the guise of "theocratic warfare".

hello jwn!

i don't get to check in here or comment as often as i would like because i have been working so hard at school...but i just have to share my news in hopes that newbees can see that taking the leap to enroll in higher education is worth it-.

i am graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in art history, minor anthropology...many people (including nonjw's have given me flack for choosing a "dead end" career path) but since leaving the watchtower organization's group-think mentality and "leaning on my own understanding" instead... i decided to say fuck everyone else's opinion...i am going to pursue my passion to work in a museum as a curator or archivist-.

Thanks for reading...I'm hoping not to come off braggy, I am just so excited and happy....and when I look back at just 4 years ago...I had no hope for the future, just the same old routine and no satisfaction in life- IT IS WORTH IT to pursue in life what you think will make you happy, it is sometimes scary to leap into the unknown, but if you push yourself you won't be sorry!!!

Congrats to you! What awesome news. You have every reason to be excited and happy. It is always great to hear the success stories here about people getting out of the JW's and doing something positive with their life.

Has a critical mass of exJWs been reached?

it took the better part of 15 years but i believe we have finally arrived at that point where there is now a critical mass of former witnesses.. thousands of exjws come together on forums like this one and discuss findings, ideas and research.

there have been documentaries and even a movie made about life in the jehovah's witnesses.. ex jw websites, online forums, and discussion boards that set the wheels in motion in the early to late 90s have matured into powerful tools of social change within the organization.. the lies and false doctines taught by the watchtower bible & tract society are plainly accessible with just a cursory google search.. active elders leak boe letters, often weeks before they hit the notice board in a kingdom hall.. social media has allowed exjws to connect with those still in as well as those who have left.. the society have no game plan because information is power and they have lost the information war.

all they can do is cry wolf and warn the rank and file not to listen to apostates.. i don't know what future the society will face in the next ten years, but changing world events, social trends, and reactionary change from headquarters based on their own faulty biblical chronology has got them cornered like a raging animal.. it doesn't look good..

The several hundred thousands of bible studies reported by Watchtower is a scam and you know it. I can't believe JW defenders would come on an X-JW board and be stupid enough to think we don't know the truth about Watchtower Society activities. JW's can pull that theocratic warfare and defection crap on outsiders that question things, but don't really know the scam. You can't pull that on X-JW's that know the truth about "the truth".TM (hard for me to write "the truth" without wanting to vomit)

JW bible studies are mainly JW children and it is nowadays counted twice by Dad & Mom. Dad to keep his pity KH priviledges and Mom to get her some easy time. (most here have done this- except maybe count it as 2 bible studies)

You find some poor friendly sap out in service and you go by weekly studying a Watchtower book and you have a bible study. This person has no intention of becoming a JW, but they are friendly and go through this book study thing with you just to be nice. (we all had BS's like this)

You get somebody spiritually weak or inactive then an elder will study with them if it's going to be easy time. If hard time, then they turn it over to a pioneer. (we all did this too)

RARELY, and I say RARELY was there bible studies started by contacting someone at the door and you actually has a Watchtower book bible study that progressed to baptism and became a JW.

Before the internet, and before the "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" because of "this (1914) generation" will see the end Watchtower lies....there was some number of JW bible studies. (especially leading up to the end will come in 1975 Watchtower lie) Nowdays the internet is kicking the Watchtower's ass so bad most JW's are too embarassed to show up at people's door and get called a cult member or have to explain the pedophile scandal. JW's are even too embarassed to stand by their own literature carts for fear of someone on the street noticing they belong to a false end predicting, two witness rule pedophile loving, Jesus rejecting, new light belief changing, bat-shit crazy cult.
