from what i heard this is a major deal.

A book "God: A biography" By Jack Miles is in my opinion, worth a read, and demonstrates convincingly that the God of the O.T. was not unchangeable. This is a book which has nothing to say about the historicity of the O.T. It just describes the development of God in terms which made me reconsider an awful lot of things. Sorry.....where were we again? Oh yes,and it did take a lot of fear away - put a few other things in its place too for better or worse.

What Do The English & Australians Think Of Americans On This Board???
by minimus init seems to me that this board's force comes mainly from our english and aussie friends.
i've read comments that some have gotten annoyed that the society and gb seem to only stress the "american" english in their style of writing.
i'm just curious as to what you think of your american brethren.

Yes, the WT comes over as being pretty American and I suppose that does annoy some people, but everybody comes from somewhere. Personally I count being American as being the least of WT crimes

I,m very new here myself and I would have loved to have been able to visit a site like this myself when i left the witnesses back in 1982. I often wished that I could have some chat with someone who understood what I had left behind and had no particular view about where I should go from there.
To this day I steer clear of any kind of religious organisation.
I couldn't begin to advise you as to your next move. If you're still drawn to the Bible then read it. It can do no harm.
I have in the last few days read both Ray Franz's book "Crisis of Conscience" and Diane Wilsons "Awakening of a Jehovah's Witness". I thought they were both pretty devastating.
And yes, keep coming back to these posts. I wish I could write like some of these people.

PS.....No, I don't quite know what I'm doing here either. I really thought I had them out of my system.

"Jehovah's Witnesses Really Don't Love People, Do They?"
by minimus inthis was a comment that was made to me when i expressed that witnesses shun or disfellowship people and refuse to have any normal contact with them, or that they "mark" them and give a public speech about ones that even date a non-jehovah's witness.
after the statement was made, i stated that witnesses were more interested in numbers such as how many knocked on doors or went to a meeting......................it is a sad but true commentary.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JESUS' TEACHINGS & PAUL'S
by Mary inhas anyone noticed that alot of paul's ideas that are part of the scriptures contrast directly with jesus'??
paul said about fornicators, idolaters, etc.
that they should be booted out of the congregation and should be "treated as a person of the nation, or a tax collector" and that no one should "even say a greeting to him.

I agree with Pistoff. Jesus was the messiah - Paul founded the Christian religion and got it organized, for better or worse. Certainly to the extent that JWs are Christian they seem to owe more to paul than to Jesus.

Hamas how could you - and twice. As a Scotsman who has lived and worked in most counties in southern England I will happily vouch for all the nice things said.
Really though, I think anyone thinking of living over here needs to have a quick look at the place first. Remember too that it always rains here
Acquire an interest in football, and I don't mean the U.S version.
And look at Scotland and northern England. They're less crowded.
I'm new to this site so I'll shut up for now. Oh and read Bill Bryson's "Notes from a small Island"
