  every memorial that i ever attended, all the attendees wore serious or solemn expressions.. for crying out loud, as quoted in the friggin' article, it's supposed to be the commemoration of the death of christ!.

  from all the visible faces in the pictutre below, only three appear to not be grinning.

  my favorite is the guy who appears to be sleeping (he is the one to the left shoulder of the closest attendant).. .

  Will you be alone on Valentines Day?

  i just happened to glance a the date as i was posting 2-13-02. one day before valentines day.

  i realized that i don't have a valentine.

  i subscribe to the idea that it is better to be alone and wish you were with someone than be with someone and wish you were alone.

  it wasn't so bad, since it was bookstudy and they threw a little party for us afterwards - we are moving to wa from pa next week.

  have you ever been so dam hurt from the things done to you in the so called gods organization that you wanted to just set down cry your guts out?.

  i will list a few reasons but basically i feel that my reality has been denied to me as a young man growing up as a jw.. i was not taught to love god, but have excrement scared out of me if i did not do what they said, i too had an over bearing father who seemed to fit right in with jw's mind set.

  i can still hear him now god rest his soul, he would say every morning if he happen to hear garner ted armstrong, honey listen they are robbing from the lords table.

  Luckily I never did any of that crap at the Conventions. Conventions were basically the low point of my whole entire life so far. For those on this board who've never been to one, imagine sitting in an uncomfortable, non-ergonomic chair for 8 hours a day (used to be more, but they wised up and made the conventions shorter), hearing exactly the same pointless drivel coughed up during meetings, just in longer bursts than usual. Sometimes I got SO bored I would start counting carpet tiles on the damn floor!!!

  To me, a Convention represented an entire weekend lost to the gaping maw of BOREDOM. Yeurgh.

  I agree with everything you say. I also think that PropLog2 is missing the point entirely, and is ignoring the fact that the BOrganization is, to quote you:

  Mr PropLog2 (you know I'm MAD when I start addressing people using formal English syntax), tell us how the minions of the Watchtower (ie. the little people, the Great Crowd) are allowed to protest and change the rules of their Society. Name one way, please.

  I can guarantee you Mr. PropLog2 will now tell us how the rules are made by God. CRAP! Jesus told his followers to love one another - that that was the greatest commandment of all, besides worshipping God. All the other commandments fall by the wayside. This theme is repeated over and over again in the Bible, yet the WTBTS chooses to ignore it in favour of strengthening their existing user base (yes, user base - the WTBTS is one of the most addictive drugs in the world!) by making more petty rules which hurt people and destroy families. Oh, and don't forget the "New Light" that pops up with unfailing regularity. It would be OK, except for the fact that some of the "Old Light" was so LUDICROUS it wasn't even funny.

  PropLog2, have you ever wondered why the WTBTS never shows people the Photo-Drama of Creation anymore? Simple: They are busy changing their belief system as science proves them wrong time and time again. Mr. PropLog2, I'm willing to bet money that you've not seen that Photo-Drama thing yet. Go check it out (easily available on the Web, just use Google), and then come back and tell us what you think.

  Remember bethel tours?

  i can remember going on at least 3 tours.and then going to a bethelite room,everyone would feel so important when they were invited .sisters especially would turn cartwheels when invited to a bethel room,i guess in the hopes that the bethelite was interested in romance.20 people jammed into 10 ft by 10ft room sharing 2 pizzas.the last time i was there a friend said to me with a laugh i cant believe we help pay their rent.lol ahh the memories

  it looks like 90% of natural selection was wiped out and the random mutations had to start working with a much smaller base only 250 million years ago.

  I read an article in Scientific American a couple of years back where a scientist theorized that the highest state of matter was conciousness, and that at a sub-electronic level it was always trying to be conscious, so it would have sort of "nudged" along cellular evolution.

  Just some crackpot theory probably, but interesting to think about. A motivator for cellular evolution would clear up a lot of our problems with it's statistical likelyhood.
