I agree that the legal wheels turned on this one- justice is not always just. I am sure that the sentiments of the jury in this case were swayed heavily by the media attention on the catholic pediphile problem.

Dogpatch great comments. I remember really reading Job one time. Reading it ouside of WT direction- if you know what I mean. I ran across the passage that said that Job accused Jehovah of doing wrong. For some reason at that moment the passage hit me hard square between the eyes. Especialy given Jah's respnse to Job- how he dealt with the accusation. As a servant in a dispute with the "body" over some issues I raised about procedures I had been bashed hard for having questioned anything about the WT. I sat down at that moment and wrote to the body a letter quoting the passage in Job and stated that I would have been better off having questioned god's procedure than the WT's procedure- needless to say I received no response except a letter stating that I had been removed as a servant and subsequently df'd- BTW they had contacted me while I was out of town- I was actually on one of the volunteer missions in Bethal NY- they demaded a meeting that was impossible for me to attend- since I was in NY and they were in FL "DAH"- they accused me of refusing to meet and df'd me in abstensia- What a trip. I had driven to NY and when all this came about (BTW they had of course approve and reccomended me for the Bethal trip) I packed my bags and left Bethal in the middle of the night. Did not even say goodbye! My poor roommate was bewildered I am sure- only to get back to FL and find myself having been df'd by the locals while at world headquarters LOL. Never went to another meeting and I went on a letter writing campaign for a while.
By the way Randy- I wholeheartedly agree that spending some time alone is a geat thing to do- get to know yourself before deciding what you are going to associate yourself with. In our society I believe that we have way to little time alone with our thoughts to sort things out- too many distractions- TV, computor and a lot of people- hard to turn it all off and take the silent walk in the park alone..... I believe that the need to validate our new status as EX-JW keeps many of us from spending the meditative time alone also.
So remember- better to blame god for wrongdoing than an elder!

I have always said that in the human factor there is only one race- the human race. Just like dogs- there are many dif shapes, sizes and colors. It can be argued that obese poeple have a "fat" gene that thin people do not have or at least not the same type of "fat" gene. But they are still of the human race. Just dif shapes, sizes and colors.

I believe that any religion or person for that matter that feels that they are "the" representative of god on earth is on dangerous ground. The WT promotes this thought. They, on the surface have a very attractive doctrine. It seemingly answers so many of life's questions and identifies many of the "whys" that other religions seem to not have an answer for or just plain avoid. The WT teachings put a lot of things into an arena that man can understand. On the surface anyway. Paradise on earth- what sane person would not want to see peace on earth- death and illness done away with? With a more down to earth doctrine- one that we can relate too- it was so easy and yes comforting to accept things from this perspective. A lot easier from our standpoint to see life here than some pie in the sky heavenly bliss that is so hard to imagine.
We thougt little, at the time, what hours of meetings, field service and and bible study was doing to us socially and secularly. "The end is near!" mindset and the constant dogma removed us from society as effectively as it could be done. The thought of leaving this was scary indeed. What a void we all ended up with. Constant association with many that though we may not have really liked some of these people- well they were our family. We all have cousins, uncles and aunts that we love but do not really like. That is the way we accepted the WT program- and programming is the key word here.
We were pumped constantly about the woes of the world, the evils of false religion (all others but JWs) the evils of money, politics and so forth- now to think that we can veiw all these things in a dif light is trauma in itself. Are you sure you want to take that leap and end up outside in the world, alone without Jehovah? Those kind of comments kept us timid for a long time and I believe that mindset keeps us looking for validation now that we are free.

Shockers Befalling The WTS In 2002. Saving Lives.
by onthego inshocking facts told out of love for congregations of jw's and the public: as dateline nbc proved in 2002 watchtower society (wts) heads over jehovah's witnesses (jws) cover up child molestation and let pedophiles go door-to-door (also
http://www.silentlambs.org
they said god opposes the un but in 1991-2001 were a formal un associate not just to use the un's library as proved if you will .

Onthego- I must first ask how you define "true" bible study group. Please outline this for me. What takes place at a "true" bible study?

Cardinal B Law's Example For Gov Body's T Jarasz
by onthego incardinal bernard law resigned over having abetted child molestation so ted jarasz should do the same.
can you imagine if pedophile priests were sent door-to-door?
yet jarasz and his band do the same with peds among jws, and jarasz himself is accused by pat garza of molesting her when he was in los angeles.. where are the "good" elders pointing this out to the flock to keep it clean?

Nathan- clearly I saw many things and chose to not trust the WT or man in general a long time back. I am considered apostate by the WT and havent set foot in a KH in years. As I said- just because of that does not mean that I bite into every allegation thrown at the WT. That would be insane behaviour. Once a man has been convicted of a theft does not mean that he is guilty of every crime that his enemies would pin on him. I am not into slinging mud just for the sake of ruining reputations. Yes the WT has proven what they are. False prophets, flip flop on issues, man of the things you listed earlier. The things that I know of for a certain- have seen for a fact- those things I will share as fact. I will warn others of these acts. But to throw out wild accusations that are unsubstantuated - I do not like that. That makes me somewhat dishonest- just like the ones I am accusing. I have painted a picture to the world that has many believing that the accusations are true and all along I know that I have no solid proof- only one persons statement- I have labeled someone something that may not be factual- Nathan I cannot beleive that when you think of this that you would really want to participate in such. Is ones hate for the WT so strong that one feels justified in missleading others into believing something is a fact when it has not been proven as factual?
CLearly I do not know if the allegations are true or not. When I look at all available facts and the information that is available about the person who made the accusation I would not be quick to spread the story. Likewise if I were this Jerasz guy and looked at everything I would not be quick to make a public statement to such charges as lodged against me by one such individual.
But more important to me than all that for my own sake I would not spread such information- such strong allegations wihtout much more proof available. If, after spreading this story around the world as if it were fact, it is found to be untrue, it will damage the credibility of the other viable cases against the WT.
I noted that the Danish TV show transcripts headlined a case of a lady who claimed that her father not only abused her but got her pregnant. The police were involved but no case was ever brought. IMHO- that story- as strong a story as it made would not have been my choice of a headline story. The issue as I see it is the two-witness rule within the WT. ANd the failure to report to authorities. Until it is proven that the WT has violated the law I do not see where the impact will be. I do not see the WT running for cover as the catholics are.

Santa - Does he exist???
by Yizuman inthere are approximately two billion children (persons under 18 ) in the world.
however, since santa does not visit children of muslim, hindu, jewish, or buddhist (except maybe in japan) religions, this reduces the workload for christmas night to 15% of the total, or 378 million (according to the population reference bureau).
at an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that comes to 108 million homes, presuming there is at least one good child in each.

Visited by JWs today
by Soledad inmy mom had an accident about two weeks ago, fortunately she is ok. im living in my parents house now after my husband (yet again) threatened to "beat the crap out of me"---that story in another post some other time.
needless to say, ever since she got out of the hospital the phone rings about 50 times a day, mostly calls from the "hermanos.
" today a couple that i have known for about 15 years comes to visit, and their "discomfort" with my presence (i am da) is quite noticeable.

soledad you did very well. You are taking care of your mother and you treated her guest with respect- I wish I had a child such as you! I give you a hugg and a pat on the back for a very respectful appraoch to an uncomfortable situation.

Though I do not agree with all this country (USA) does I am a law abiding very productive member of our society who does not waive the falg or salute it. When I see the masses stand to allegence I get an overwhelming feeling of a bunch of drones following the orders of the elitist. I agree it is more important to BE than to go through rituals. And the flag salute thing is just a ritual.
