  Wind- valid points all... I would still hate to think that there would be a valid reason for a parent or god to harm innocents for any reason.

  Now you see my point. Maybe the problem is the book (bible)- not god, our creator however you care to define him. For most of my life I bought the jw explanaintions and since having been df'd I have asked similar questions of people of all sorts of bible based systems. IF the bible is the "word of god" how can one reconcile the love this god is claimed to have for his creation with what he has allowed to happen to his creation, according to the bible, to fulfill his need to vindicate his name? One can almost agree with the torture of some adults but the evils brought upon innocent childen??? Why would a loving god allow this? Would you, as an imperfect parent, stand by and watch without intervention as your wayward, wicked teenager was tortured? I think not. No matter how much dislike a parent has for the ways of his or her child the parent would not want harm to come to their child. And would not sit back and watch as thier child was abused- if they have the power to intervine as god does.

  since i was a believer from the earliest of my memories, i spent my formative academic years not thinking or caring much about my future.

  although 1975 (armageddon / the end of the world / jehovah's judgment) was still a year away, as a naive, dumbass teenager it was looming very large on my radar screen.

  besides *that*, my best jw buddy got baptized in february of that year.

  Though I am white I employ a majority of blacks and socialize with people of color. The treatment is different and the thoughts about the treatment are expressed as such (skin color does matter in our society). My project manager is a black man who is married to a white woman. As a vendor with the largest hospital in middle tennessee it became evident that once many of the powers at the hospital became aware of his mixed marriage our company was put under a whole new set of policies that our peer vendors were not subjected to. One of our competitors employees was actually caught red handed stealing some of our equipment on campus. Hospital administrators urged me not to have the man arrested. It ended up that the individual that was caught in the theft kept his job and his position. The treatment we received was much diferent. I was advised to fire an employee because he called a female staff member "sweetie"... RACE???? I am a WHITIE and I believe it to be so.

  And we thought Susan Smith was mad.

So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son."

  And one has to wonder why advocates of the bible are (i.e. jw's & catholics though not limited to) caught up in such child abuse scandels.....?????

  i hate sounding anything like you know (i really hate it) but there are some very.

  ominous things happening in the economic arena that could affect all of us.. the bank of japan tried to sell 10 year bonds to buy up stocks to prevent massive.

  Yes war as an economic tool has always been the republican way. Just read an intersting article today about a german politician who accused bush of using the iraqi issue as a tool to draw attention away from our domestic issues. She got herself in a bit of heat when she said Hitler did the same thing... Claims were made that she was comparing bush to hitler...

  I was just reading jim's response and thought "How jwish!" Christians love to say that "god is the same yesterday, today and tommorow." And of course when and if the jw's revise thier blood policy they will excuse the deaths of so many innocent people by saying that god had a purpose that we just do not understand. Wait on jehovah! New light! Yes, this loving god of the bible will sacrifise millions of innocent lives to vindicate his divine name.
