Good point! Never thought about that. God invented weapons of mass destruction.

Best argument against a Jehovah's Witness?
by Happy indon't get me wrong, i'm not one to actively persecute jw's, i'm just wondering what you guys think is the best agrument/point to use when a pesky brother or sister just won't leave you alone.
normally, i am willing to listen to their drivel out of respect (even though i have no respect for the wt) but there are times when i am not in the mood to hear them babble.
i normally bring up the 1914 generation point, and it normally works.

Healing.....
by kelsey007 inas i look back at my life i realize that i have said and done many stupid and hurtful things.
sometimes in anger, sometimes i've allowed "buttons" to be pushed that allowed me to turn ugly.
sometimes i have allowed my sensitivities to overcome reasonable responses.

Over the past year that I have been here I remember seeing post where some here have lost loved ones and at least one who posted here past away. I just wanted to take a moment to express my thoughts for those who have suffered such loss. Though I do not know you I too have suffered losses of loved ones. My heart is with all as in one way or another through shunning or through death we have all lost some that we care for. The memories that we have of the better days that we enjoyed with those we now miss can never be taken away from us. May all find peace and happiness in the days ahead......
I raise my glass and toast all survivors with heartfelt love for my fellow ex-jw!

The Next Teaching to Fall
by Blueblades inwhile many have had their hopes dashed concerning the change on this "generation " teaching, there is yet another teaching yet to fall very soon.it must and will fall because it connected to the generation doctrine that has already been changed.. the teaching that could shortly cause the governing body a serious problem and could bring about a major change for the vast majority of the rank and file is "the great tribulation".while this teaching has been put off to the " indefinite future"the gb.continues to have a serious problem with it.if the great tribulation fails to occur reasonably soon, the doctrine concerning the earthly hope for the vast majority of jw's.will have proven to have been false.the' great crowd' are those who will have come out of the great tribulation.according to the society those persons began to be identified as present as early as 1932.so the youngest members are now in their 70's or 80's.. again, the time-line is running out!
and has the potential of adversely affecting hundreds of thousands of other witnesses in the not to distant future,as time passes without the fulfilment of their hopes for a new heavens and a new earth.. also, some time ago, there was a watchtower study article, i don't remember which one it was .it spiritualized, armageddon!
psalm 91,especially verse 7.it said that a thousand will fall at your very side and ten thousand at your right hand, applies to those leaving the org.

day off
by teejay ini got a rare day off work.. luckily enough, i'm sitting here listening to music i've stolen online (iow: downloaded).
one of those songs is natalie cole's rendition of her father's earlier take of "let there be love.".
beside the music part of it, i marvel at the gifts that parents are able to leave their children.

I saw Jerry Falwell being interviewed on Donahue last night- If you think the JWs are out ther on the tribulation story you should have heard this guy! He is one sick pup. These guys tore him up! It was a trip. One guy stood up and said I am an anthiest- Are you telling me that I will burn in hell! Made the JW thing look kind of tame LOL
BTW Jerry proudly announced that he is buying a new Hummer and that neither he nor Jesus knows what Jesus would drive LOL LOL LOL

The big talk with parents - need help!
by zenpunk inmy husband and i have decided to start a family this summer.
as exciting as that may be there's one issue that weighs heavily on my mind - what to do about both our sets of jw parents.
should we lay some ground rules down with them before the baby arrives (which they will probably break anyway)?

Everyone is dif. Families look at things in a dif light. What a wonderful thing if you can keep a good relationship between your child and the grandparants. How is the realtionship between you and the parants? Do they associate freely with you in sptite of the WT? Do they hound you about attneding mettings and so forth?
The key, OMHO, is how YOU raise your child. As a divorced parant my son went to the KH when he was with his mom and of course did not when he was me. THe time he spent with me was a little less than the time he spent with his JW mom. He grew up hating the meetings and the WT. I never talked bad about his mom or really dogged out the WT in front of him. I shared, in a straightfoward way with him why I did not go and would never join the WT again. I tried to do this in the least negative way possible. I think what won him over was my lack of negatism. The JW's alsways dogged others beliefs and those that strayed away- but I never dogged the WT or those that were faithful. I allowed him to make his own choices in the matter based on the best expample I could set for him. FOrtunately it worked to keep him away. In my experience the more you try to keep a child from something and the more you force the issue the more they want to go and find out for themselves. A parant that harps against cigs and makes negative comments eveytime they see someone smoking a cig is more liekly to see thier child at some point try to smoke a cig. The more a parant uses tactful expression and takes the time to really sort thing s out for their child in a loving and balanced way the the more the child child is reseptive to the direction. Keep your parant rules out of the childs earshot. And explain to your parants that you want this to be a family relationship not a religious relationship.
