Atreyu-I would have a tough time in those countries, being VERY left handed! When I was in second grade, my teacher forced me to write with my right hand, then failed my papers when they were unreadable! Ooh, was my mother mad! After she visited the office, I was allowed to write with my left hand again :)
I don't think I even want to touch that other issue other than to remember Jesus' words at Matthew 7:1-5. I will say I don't approve of that lifestyle, but feel its not really my business to judge the PERSON. One of my oldest dearest friends happens to be gay and I love him as much as I ever did, he is a better man than some church leaders I know, would give a stranger the shirt off his back. What he does in his bedroom is not for me to judge.
CS Lewis wrote in his book Mere Christianity, something like this: A cold, unemotional prig that attends church all the time may be far nearer to hell than a warm hearted prostitute.
Logical- I agree with you, its whats in the heart that counts. God knows our weaknesses and loves us just the same.
Peace to all......Lauren -

Do you see many jw's at your door?
by terafera inthis has probably been addressed before, but.... the other day a philipino man knocked on our door.
my husband answered it, and a nice elderly man said something in philipino to us, holding a watchtower and awake.
my husband said we only spoke english, and the old man smiled, said something and left.

Hello everyone, I usually just lurk, but........
I had some at my door last week. In the year and a half I have lived here, they have left a tract on my doorstep and I have had them at my door twice when I was home. After the first time, they skipped my house and visited my neighbor twice( I dont think they liked what I had to say, maybe had me pegged apostate. Actually, I have never been a JW). But last week, they were back again, different ones. I have also seen them in other neighborhoods and they have been by my Dads house.
At the last place I lived, I was practically stalked by one witness lady who kept coming around with a little girl. I think that lady was nuts. She was a real fire and brimstone type, going on about the end of the world. Wild eyes. i started to avoid her and she would keep knocking on the door when I didnt answer it.
Peace to all...... _lauren :) -

cathy, thank you for your kind words and thoughts! i am pretty happy in my life, alot to be thankful for. I am trying to get past the mish mash of things i've been taught and learning what I really think and believe. I dont want to be afraid to answer the door........ ive moved a few times and wherever I was, eventually there would be a witness at my door. One time I actually hid from her, she knew I was there! This lady had been at my door a few times with a little girl maybe 7 or 8. She came back because I had taken her literature and she had asked me something like do you know what will happen to you when you die. I got in my bed under the covers and wouldnt come out! I was a coward... I had some jws at my door a few months ago, two nice men, and I told them I was familiar with the watchtower and that I believed in Jesus. One said we do too and I said we dont believe in the same Jesus. They were very quick to leave after that. part of me wanted to keep talking to them but I was also relieved that they gave up easily. Thanx again for your comments and God bless you.

hello everyone! i am not a JW but....... when i was a child my mother was a "searcher". she was involved with Armstrongism, some other cult i cant remember the name, and finally JWs. She would take me with her to "bible studies" and I would listen. I recieved a copy of "My book of bible stories" at about 8 or 9 years old. She as well as my older brother were heavily into these bible studies for some time. I dont think they were ever baptized, probably because of their thinking for themselves and questioning some of their teachings. When I was about 11 or 12, my mother started talknig to some people from a baptist church. I know that for a while there she was really buying into what they were saying but i dont know if she was being "mind controlled" , i think it was more of being decieved and beleiving in the lies. Her and my grandmother argued about celebrateing christmas and i believe that she destoyed a cross she had had. Anyway, when she talked to these other folks, she still wanted to go to kingdom hall, and made arrangements for one of them to pick her up. by this time, she had been diagnosed with ovearian cancer and had dire spiritual needs. She waited for them outside on the sidewalk and they never showed up. She studied with them again after that. Im not sure if she ever really got over the damage done by the watchtower or not, she died when i was 14. she was baptized at a baptist church and i was also at the same time ( i was 12, and turned away quickly after that) I do know t
hat before she died she asked one of the jw ladies to "watch over" my brother. hed studied with them for a while afterwards, secretly because dad and grandma did not approve after how they snubbed mom. He did get out. I on the other hand wouldnt even talk to them. Some of it is blurry, between trying to block it out and the substances i was consuming.......... I turned away from God, any God, for many years. When I was grown i started studying Wicca but then came to know the love of Christ.
So anyway, this is part of my childhood experience. I was indoctrinated as a child by the jws and that book, that bible story book, scared me as a kid. I still own this book and my moms old watchtower pubs and books and am sure to keep it up high that my own kids wont see it. I still am not fully clear on what psych scars i carry because of my experience
I dont know much about "mind control" but what is clear to me is that the way they shun people is not christian like and their doctrine is not in agreement with scripture. I saw not too long ago another death because someone believed in these untrue and harmful doctrines. It breaks my heart that there are others out there like mom, honest seekers trying to find meaning, that get wrapped up in this destructive organization that turns their backs on the very ones that need the most.
I attend a baptist church, and i know when i go there its ok to disagree and speak out of turn. one lady said to me, " we are in the forgiveness business" and i like that. forgiving people for being......human! what a concept. Sometimes i dont feel like going to church, i want to stay home and be with my husband, and thats just fine. I dont think i have to go there to be with God, he is always right here wherever we are. Sometimes I feel closest to Him when I am playing with my kids or just appreciating the beauty of nature and His creation. In Christ there is freedom, not bondage, and he loves us as we are not as some other person expects us to be.
I saw an old friend of mine a while back, just before I accepted the Lord, and he is involved with the JWs. we talked a little bit , and i could just sense something about him..... like he was working and trying so hard........ I wish i had been able to say something more to him......... he reminded me of an animal in a cage the look in his eyes.... going on about how hard it is to do gods will, reaching, searching, trying. I hope i have the right words to say if i see him again. okay well anyway thats my story.i remembered the name ........ Christadelphians. does anyone know anything about this group?

IF JESUS DID NOT RISE FROM THE DEAD, WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS BODY? IF IT WERE TO BE FOUND, SURELY THE JEWS WOULD HAVE, EVEN PUT IT ON DISPLAY. THE DISCIPLES WERE DEFEATED AND BROKEN AND ROMAN SOLDIERS GUARDED THE TOMB. THEY WOULD NOT HAVE WANTED THAT BODY TO DISAPPEAR, THIER LIVES WERE IN DANGER IF THEY FAILED AT THEIR JOB. IF THE BODY WAS STOLEN BY THE DISCIPLES, HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THEIR MARTYRDOM? WOULD YOU DIE FOR SOMETHING YOU KNEW TO BE A LIE? SEACH THE EVIDENCE FOR YOURSELF, ITS THERE. BUT DONT TRUST THE WATCHTOWER, GO TO THE BIBLE, GO TO THE HISORICAL RECORDS. READ "EVIDENCE THAT DEMANDS A VERDICT" BY JOSH MCDOWELL. CHRISTAINITY IS NOT "BLIND" FAITH, IT IS BASED ON A SOLID FOUNDATION OF TRUTH.

To JWs: My Unanswered Question
by Skimmer inhere is a repost of a question i asked in another topic that hasn't yet been answered.
are there any real jws reading this who can give a convincing answer?.
if you are a sincere believer of the wtbts, i would like to ask you a fairly simple question that i have not seen answered in any of the wtbts publications.

DOES NOT THE BIBLE INSTRUCT US TO LOVE THE LORD WITH ALL OUR HEARTS AND SOULS AND......MINDS? WOULDNT OUR MIND INCLUDE INTEELIGENT REASONING? NO ONE NEEDS THE WATCHTOWER MAGAZINES TO UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE, ONE MUST ONLY HAVE A PREPARED HEART. " BECAUSE I SAID SO" IS NOT AN INTELLIGENT RESPONSE. DONT YOU THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE A SOLID FOUNDATION FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE?

Fredhall,
it seems to me that you arent really interested in having an intelligent discussion regarding your beliefs but rather try to dismiss an intelligent honest question and instead attack the person who is questioning. does not the bible instruct us to always be ready to make a defense for the hope that we have? if the Watchtower society is truly Gods organization then witnesses should not have a problem with an open discussion of beliefs and doctrine. -

The Watchtower Organisations Controlling Hand
by Big Jim inthe controlling hand of the watchtower organisation.
jehovahs witnesses are taught that god has always guided his people by means of an organisation and that, although, in times past, jehovah listened to the prayers of individual worshippers, he provided instruction for them through an organisational arrangement.
hence, they maintain that with the establishment of the christian congregation (at pentecost 33ce), jehovah had brought into existence an organisation on earth made up of true christians1 and, as christianity spread and congregations were formed, these functioned under the direction of a governing body made up of apostles and older men [and so] today, jehovah deals with his people through an organized body2 and this organisation exists as the modern theocratic organisation of jehovahs witnesses - the watchtower society.3 through their publications, the jehovahs witnesses are led to believe that jehovahs organization alone, in all the earth, is directed by gods holy spirit or active force (zech .4:6) only this organization functions for jehovahs purpose and to his praise.

Big Jim,
I just wanted to let you know I thought your letter was very intelligent and accurate. It is my prayer that more JW's would begin to understand the great deception and come to know the true extent of Gods love for them found in the testimony of the scriptures. : )
