  Were There ANY Advantages To Being a Jehovah's Witness?

  Its almost as if you have pms Minimus. (is that the right word for reading my mind).

  I was just talking to Mouthy this afternoon (wanted to know if she was feeling better) and we were discussing my son's addiction. He has stolen a lot of money from me and I kicked his butt out the door. The cops have a warrent for his arrest.

  Of course, I have no contact with him but his jw mother does. She believes that she is going to help him, not by getting him help with his addiction, but by her preachimg to him. She has told him that the only solution for him would be coming to Jehovah.

  I truly believe that he would be better off remaining addicted (with the hope that he will hit bottom and get help) than to become a jw. Being a jw will slowly kill you, only it is much more gruesome.

  Sitting on the outside looking in, you gotta love it!

  "A Christian who has commited a grave sin". Am I the only one that has never heard of someone getting the shaft for a real GRAVE SIN, but thousands being ousted for very minor infractions? (having a smoke, Xmas tree, any holiday, asking questions, matter of dress, etc., etc.)

  this is just some general information for outsiders, (non witnesses) who want to know how to get the witnesses to leave them alone.. .

  each kingdom hall has an assigned area their members are responsible for doing the door to door preaching.

  it may be the whole town or, if there are more than one congregations, the town or city will be divided up between halls.

  I have been told that a simple request to praying before discussing anything with the witnesses, works wonders. I never got to put it to the test. I think that my giving my ex's jw lawyer so much grief, has something to do with them not calling at my house.

  I have a lot of relatives that do get called on, much to their displeasure. Since the divorce, some of them have said some things to them that are much worse than r-rated flicks. This seems to work.

  A good friend of mine was called on recently. After patiently listening to their bad news comments about the world today, he said that he did not understand how they put up with the "Gestapo" without getting angry. If they were able to explain that, he would be happy to listen.

  Needless to say!....before he could blink.....they were gone and never to be seen again.

  Well, well.....Beans....68 eh? I am afraid I wasn't born that year (a few years older than that) but something traumatic did happen that year. I had the misfortune of meeting my ex jw wife that year. She was only 17 then and (though she was born into the cult) she was rebelling for a while at that time.

  That is the reason for my moniker. What a storm that turned out to be!

  I must admit that something wonderful did occur because of it. She at least blessed me with four great sons and all of them get the garlic out whenever they encounter a dub.

  I also bought my first new car back in 68. A Mercury Cyclone, 4 speed big block. What a rush that was, cruising the 401 at 150 mph. Lost my license because of it, and I've yet to learn from that experience.

  Today I own two of these very rare muscle cars, and have a blast cruising around in the summer.

  The best part of the sixties! Mick Jagger and the boys, still going strong.

  Rock on Mick..... and he is even older than I am!

  Question about Satan being thrown down to earth

  remember revelation 12:7. there was war in heaven and micheal and his angels battled the dragon and his angels.

  then satan was thrown down to earth and was like a roaring lion.. didn't the jw's say that this happened in 1914?

  Just think about it!....What the h**l was Satan doing all this time in Heaven? What was God thinking letting him roam around on his turf?

  The bible states that Moses was asked to remove his sandals on the mount, because he was stepping on Holy ground. Of course everyone knows that that small piece of earth, would be more sacred then Heaven.

  Most of their nonsense is a joke!

  i hope you all remember me...a few months back i wrote and said that my husband who is a jw...a very passive agressive jw...told me i was satan's minion and that my literature on the shelf had demons that were attacking his jw literature and he moved all of his literature to our bedroom floor.

  he also said that my activities online were going directly against jehovah and that it was destroying our marriage.

  being as we have three young kids, and he wasnt going to meetings much anyway...i decided it would be a small thing for me to give up my online persona and remove my literature to save the marriage.

  Lovesdubs,

  The first thing you have to do is find a lawyer that has had experience with the dubs. I had a very difficult time finding one here in Canada. It is so frustrating dealing with jws because they are such a minute cult and nobody knows anything about them. I found a lawyer that was involved in ONE other case. That was the best I could do. He messed up on a number of areas. I desparately tried to educate him but the consensus was always the adage that courts do not consider religion in custody battles.

  If you are going to separate, you need all the info you can get your hands on. An invaluable asset that I had was a copy of the societys booklet on "Preparing for Child Custody Cases". By studying this booklet, you can show that the lws lifestyle is in question here. The courts only consider what is in the best interest of the children. You have to try and show that being indoctrinated by the jw, the children will be seriously handicapped.

  I don't think that the blood argument is going to have any effect. They will lie through their teeth about it. My ex certainly did. My lawyer managed to get us an arbitrator so we could come to a mutual agreement. When my ex was asked about my concern about blood being withheld for my boy in case of an accident, she stated that the first phone call she would make in a case of an emergency, would be to me. I had a hard time believing that, the fact being that she had already filled a no blood card for our son.

  It cost me the better part of my retirement savings fighting her, but I am happy to say that I now have my son living with me.

  DO NOT TRUST them for a second. They say hind sight is 20/20. If I analyze my situation, my trusting her humanity, caused me the most grief and expense.

  I am really sorry that you are going through this. Try to remain as calm as posssible and research....research......and more research.

  Hello Midwest,

  All other religions are bad news to jws, but Catholicism is definately were Satan spends most of his time.

  Is she just studying or is she baptised? How long has she been studying?

  Take it from another Catholic, that was married to a jw for 25 years, you have to be a genius and have amazing control over your emotions, in order for you to even whisper questions.

  I sincerely hope that she has not been studying long and with a loving attitude, you can stear her in the right direction.

  Don't get fooled for a second that this is a religion. They could instruct Amway reps and quadruble their sales, in a very short period of time.
