  i noticed in metatron's thread about bribery the next issue of qfr includes something about taking in knowledge now, which one could understand form the witness viewpoint, but why forever.

  if you were perfect could you learn any more?

  why would they still need to keep learning about jehoveh if he had already fixed everything?

  Don't you remember the thing about New Scrolls Being Opened? in the New System??? These are, apparently, going to be even bigger and better than New Light?. And possibly even more important. I mean, they may contain a map to the Garden of Eden? where only the purest weed grows.

  Scully, you forget. This is the WATCHTOWER we're talking about. There will be no weed, pure or otherwise. They will study insects. Once this is completed the society will preach to them. That's what's in the New Scrolls?!

  They'll still count time too.

  Your mistake was posting it last night. We have lives at night. Next time post rambling thoughts during the day, while we're bored at work.

  hi all.. many of you have probably seen my posts on here before, but if you haven't let me reinterate my story in short for you.. i am currently dating a wonderful guy, but the problem is he has been considering becoming a jw.

  he has studdied with them for about a year.

  because of me has agreed to do some religion searching and figure out what he really believes.

  I was told that they knew Jehovah forgave me but that I needed to prove myself to the rest of the congregation

  They really don't hear themselves, do they? Jehovah's forgiveness is not valid until it is approved by the congregation, eh? Perhaps Jehovah was being presumptuous by granting forgiveness. Maybe next time he should check with the elders? first.

  I'm surprised they don't disfellowship Jehovah for "running ahead of the organization?."

  the quote below was part of a talk in the 90's.

  i heard this as a child and thought to myself, how can any woman accept such a draconian veiw?

  i was not sure if i had understood correctly so, i brought it up to my bible study conductor maggie, i was appalled that she agreed with this veiw, we debated it back and forth, until i got the upper hand, then she told me that i was to "rebellious and strong willed", and that i "should never get married", that i way i would not have to submit to male "headshit" "headship".

  I got in shit many times with elders? because my wife was what they considered unsubmissive?. It's not that she disrespected me or anything, but when we made decisions we did it together. Most likely the elders? were pissed because she was unsubmissive? to them. If they came to her about something she'd say to them, "Why are you telling me? Go talk to my head! He's over there!"

  When I got married I wanted to marry an equal, not some bimbo who needed her every move monitored. Evidently, many brothers? are not comfortable with that. Perhaps they recognize their own deficiencies after all. Many times I marvelled at the stupidity of the brothers?, and felt sorry for the sisters? because the pickings were so slim.

  as a jw, when i'd find out someone got disfellowshipped, i'd shake my head and think, "what a selfish person.

  choosing immorality (it had to be immorality) over jehovah.

  i hope i never make such bad choices.

  I used to think that people who DA'd were bloody apostate bastards from hell. There was nothing worse. So of course, that was the appropriate way for me to leave.

  Would they then just drop the disfellowshipping charges and let the disassociation stand?

  If you disassociate yourself you are no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses, so they don't have the authority to DF you. The resulting shunning is the same though. And I'm sure there are some elders? out there who would DF you anyway, just so they can think they had the last word.

  Gas prices & JW Conventions/Field Service

  with gas prices forecasted to reach $2.50 in the u.s. do you think this will impact the district conventions this summer?i hope that either fewer will travel to the conventions,and those that do attend will donate less money to the wts.. and what about field service?

  i realize hard-core jws will continue in the "ministry", but in my area we have a lot of driving territory.

  not many are willing to drive, they prefer to stay close to the kh and work shorter periods rather than spend a lot of money filling up their gas tanks.. in other countries where gas prices are higher than u.s. prices perhaps people are used to it, but do you think it has a bearing on jw activity?

  I just paid $0.85 per litre for gas today.

  But since I'm not going in service? anymore I'm only having to fill up twice a month now instead of every week.

  Considering all the donations to the society are supposed to be for the worldwide preaching work? maybe they should be contributing some coin to the publishers? for gas and mileage. I'm sure that the cost of gas is much higher than the cost of the cheapass magazines most people don't want anyway.

  Better yet, they should become more environmentally friendly and quit going out in service? altogether.

  "Jehovah will bring to ruin those ruining the earth". He should start with the JWs.
