  Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  do any of you suffer from what you perceive as ocd?

  to any degree?

  do you think it is because of the wtbts?

  Hmmmm, wanna visit my work area??? It's a disaster! But in other areas I do the same thing, especially with money. The heads on the bills MUST be on the same side and facing the same direction, and the bills MUST be arranged with larger bills at the back. The rest of my wallet is a disaster, bulging with receipts that are 6 months old, but if the money is in order, then I'm happy. I do the same with CDs, arranging them by category, and the labels all facing the same way.

  I was super disorganized before I was a JW, but that changed alot when I ran my own business. It had to!

  I don't think I have OCD, but I often wondered if my stint as a JW affected my short term memory. People in the borg used to marvel that I could remember how many beers I drank on New Years Eve 20 years ago, but could not remember the subject of a public talk a few hours earlier. Now that I'm out I don't notice any short term memory problems anymore. I'M CURED!!! Maybe it was just my level of (dis)interest.

  Gender in The New System?

  the org teaches that in the new order those that have been brought back to life will "neither marry or be given in marriage" the earth will be eventually filled by those that make it through the big a.

  (if that's the case there would be alot of sex happening in the new order.

  i was looking through the photodrama of creation book the other day and read the page dealing with mother eve created (p.9).

  Does this make any sense at all?

  First God created Adam, and according to JW belief, he was perfect.

  Then God said it wasn't good for the man to be by himself, so he took one of Adams ribs and used it to create Eve. According to JW belief they were both perfect. They were then told to fill the earth.

  Then they sinned and weren't perfect anymore. They filled the earth anyway.

  Then the JW's come along and quote Jesus' words that resurrected ones will "neither marry or be given in marriage", and use this as a basis for the belief that marriage will one day become obsolete. Sex and procreation will cease because the earth has been filled. Does that mean women will be obsolete? Or men? Maybe women will be shrunk to the size of a single rib and re-inserted into men. It doesn't sound very appealing to me. It also makes it sound as though a woman's main purpose is to serve as an incubator for children.

  So much for a "perfect" arrangement, eh? Sounds kind of chauvinistic to me. It looks like just one more way that the society puts women down.

  Brother Valis is absolutely correct about the superiority of Canadian beer. But I'm sure Brother Beans was stricken with some unrelated malady that could have, unfortunately, temporarily diminished his capacity for fine brew. Could he have been drinking American beer? Hmmmmmm!

  As each day passes, the Canadian Branch of Apostates enjoys increase, and there are many new ones who can suck suds with the best of 'em! Hell, we ARE the best of 'em!

  Michael, I have to agree with you - Canadian women are VERY HOT!!! But I've met some very hot American women too. Perhaps they can trace their roots back to Canada?

  well, it has finally happened.

  my jw husband came home last week and told me he is moving out.

  it seems he has been talking to the elders, and they feel his spirituality is being threatened (even though i have not insisted he stop going to meetings, i won't allow any jw material in my home because of my children from a previous marriage - i don't want them exposed to it.

  Sounds to me like the French are getting royally ripped off in their restaurants. From my own experience, the amount of food intake is only part of the obesity problem, and I didn't notice any mention of other lifestyle factors, such as physical activity. I eat considerably less than I did a few years ago, but I still gained weight. Why? Most likely because I have a job that is fairly sedentary. Since becoming more physically active these last few months, I've lost over 30 pounds, with no change in my diet. How did I increase my physical activity? I stopped driving to work, so now I have to walk to bus stops, a total of about 2 miles a day. Not that much when you think about it. Considering Toronto rush hour traffic, I'm spending less time commuting, and saving money too.

  I'd rather stick with my current diet and just excercise more. And cutting back on beer and pizza is unthinkable.

  when you were a witness, and the end actually came, how do you think you would have reacted?.

  I believed the end would come as I was taught, but I often wondered if I'd really like what I saw afterward:

  Surrounded by dead bodies everywhere! The stench would be overwhelming! And the diseases that the survivors would get from these unsanitary conditions.

  As for everything being so perfect and wonderful, who the hell wants that??? I enjoy my accomplishments SOOOOO much more if I have to overcome obstacles to attain my goals. It's much more satisfying!

  As for everyone being so nice and pleasant, how boring! Why don't we all just have freaking lobotomies??? I like a little friction now and then! A little friction between people aids in building relationships and character. Don't believe me? Just try having sex without it, and see how far you get!

  No more meat for dinner!!! I can't imagine life without burgers, steak, ribs, chicken, pepperoni on my pizza. What would I put in my hot dog bun, a freaking carrot???

  Then they'd probably try to find a way of banning beer too!

  No thanks, I'll enjoy my life now, and die happy one day.
