  Did Jesus and Gautama Buddha preach a similar message?

  there are many similarities in the stories attached to both the buddha (the one born in lumbini, nepal) and jesus, even though buddha lived in the 6th c/bce and jesus in the 1st c/ce.

  this video compares some aspects of their teachings.. the text attached to the video states:.

  yesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.

  we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.

  they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.

  Because belie ing the Bible,for many, makes people think "well if it is my time to go its my time to go", or "its all part of this wicked system of things", or "they will be resurrected and will enjoy eternal life, death is just the beginning".....my problem with these outlooks is that it creates a cynical portrayal in the mind of people who think this way, making you appreciate this life less because its in this wicked world. I know as a witness i became cynical to everyday life. But when you focus all your time on the Bible and hope for the future without learning about where you are in the present, and also forget to study about how we got here not just as spiritual people but as beings of a physical universe, you tend to not see warning signs. Like i said not all theists or christians are this way bit many do develop that cynical view that this life isnt good enough and will be done away with, replacing it with the new.

  BIG conversation with the missus MKII. Ended well. Wish I could argue better!

  well, had a loooooooong conversation with the missus again after being accused of being overly critical of the borg.. .

  i stated that i thought the borg was marvellous, full of really good people, (in our experience, it has been so far), but that i had difficulty with the dogmatic stance we had on certain issues that we couldn't possibly be sure about, and that if i were to vocalise any of these issues and unrepentantly not change my thinking, then i could be df'd for that, which i view as an unloving bullying tactic.

  organ transplants, vaccinations, (jah will resurrect, don't worry), new understandings of the fads and generations etc... particularly the thought that only jw's will be saved.

  Thats the same with me...like when my wife asked how are they going to have kids in the mew system of things since luke chapter.....oh i forget...says that in the system to come they will not be given in marriage--therefore no babies since we cannot have kids out of wedlock right? i agreed that she was correct and the org was wrong.

  just recently my daughter ask for permission to get baptized.

  not knowing the mess that my wife's religion is, i consented.

  after a lot of research, i now regret my decision.

  Lol cap'n the similarities continue...wife wife is a fanstastic argu....er. My brain also shuts down and i end up saying stupid crap.

  Daniel im sorry about your situation....its thaat type of situation that makes me more cautious...especially with my kids being involved. If u need to gent and chat you know we are all here for you.
