Oh cofty start tha thread i wanna comment....the "Are Jesus' Teachings helpful" thread. Ive learned alot on this thread from many sides. thanks to all for your posts. I know these debates get heated and sometimes personal but i appreciate my freedom in searching and expressing my thoughts and feelings. DS

by cofty inyesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.
we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.
they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.

More importantly jen1--If you question that they are the true organization yet u still believe in Christ and God you will still be DF'ed most likely...i asked an elder once "what if someone believed in Christ and God, demonstrated the values Christ had and is a genuinely good person, will they be saved at Armageddon?" he basically told me how Jehovah would lead him/her and he/she would also need to perform the lost important work--the preaching work.

7 he said to them: it does not belong to you to know the times or seasons that the father has placed in his own jurisdiction.. notice jesus never said thered be a change in venue, just that it wasnt up to them to know when..... so what is there from both sides?

Eden one--i respect you and your right to speak about what you believe. But please answer only the questions...Why didnt God intervene? Scripture brings out that with God all things are possible. He gave moses the power to part the red sea to save his people......right?
i know u dont speak for God but im not blaming God for natural disasters but am questioning why, if he has all the power to create the universe, would he not stop this to save 250,000 people? Certainly this would encourage and uplift millions of people and a beautifal display of Gods power, no? Not to mention itd be the moral thing to do...

Where else is there to go?
by snare&racket inwhen i left the jw's, close friends and some elders discussed my desicion with me,without fail they all concluded the same thing.... "but where else is there to go?!".
at the time, the question just confused me, i could not see why it confused me or the very telling nature of such a comment.
i never thought that once.. firstly, this indicates that many jw's remain jw's simply because of this tunnel vision perspective... everything in their periphery is valueless, but the wt on which they focus is everthing.
