i remember it well, and it wasn't even my own hall.

How far does the shunning go for you, by your JW parents or children?
by LyinEyes inmy dad is a jw, trying to reach out to be an elder again......also pioneering.
i saw my cousin , his nephew , the other nite at the dance club......i told him i havent seen my dad, nor heard from him in almost 2 years.
he said he saw him a while back but that he heard he moved.. last time i talked to my dad, it was over me not going to the circuit assembly he was trying to get me to go to.

Lyineyes, from what you`ve said about your Dad, he sounds excellent elder material! Pig headed, no love or compassion for anyone especially his own family, he sounds like the perfect borg elder! As a father and human being he is a complete failure, and wants a good hiding for the way he is treating you. From your thread, you can tell that you are still hurting from what he has done and no wonder but let me tell you this, although I dont know you all that well, from what I have learnt about u from your posts, this man is crazy not to love you and give you the relationship with your father that you deserve. You sound like a really warm and loving person, who goes out of her way to make people feel and home and it is truly his loss!
About disfellowshipping, I am ashamed to say that for years I have shunned both my brother and sister, and got severe telling off from the local elders, at times when I missed them both so much that I had started to have association with them. I kept up the borg rules for many years, until a couple of years ago after I had stopped attending meetings, I again got in touch with them both, I am happy to say that neither of them have held my cold-heartedness towards them against me, and we are trying to catch up on a lot of lost years......That organization has got so much to answer for, it truly ripped my whole family apart!

Did you get made fun of when you were in school?

i'm curious to know because when i was in junior high i was constantly picked on made fun of and the butt of many jokes.
even remembering that hurts till this day.

i was constantly picked on right through school, from nursrey to the senior school, i just grew up thinking it was "normal" for a witness kid to experience all the horrible things that I did. I too understand you when u talk about your under developed social skills, thats some thing im still working on now aged 32. Looking back although school was a very painful experience for me as a witness, at least it gave me strength of character, and if I had the confidence back then that I have now no one would be saying two words to me . At least in my adult life I dont take any cr** off anyone. I too wouldnt want my kids to go through what i went through, just glad i dont have any!

sorry pepper but u have really struck a nerve here. My sister, knew the rules yes, but when she decided within 7 days that she was repentant yet the rigid elders wouldnt back down and let her appeal go though that is when i felt the emotional hurt and anger and i still feel rightly so towards a supposedly loving organization. As I understand it u have up to seven days after a judicial committe to go back with a change of heart, and yet this opportunity wasnt given to my sister, so excuse me for finding your cold hearted attitude of "what do you expect" a bit too much to swallow! I expect the congregation to follow their precious rules and more importantly to show the love and forgiveness demonstrated by the ones they are supposed to be following, im sure Jehovah would have shown a little more compassion that the elders did in my hall!
