Specific banned shows, songs, etc...?
by AllAlongTheWatchtower ini know the society tells people not to listen to rock n roll cause its from teh satan, not to watch r rated movies because they're "worldly", etc.
but i was wondering if folks had any specific instances where one song, one show, one movie, or whatever was singled out as being particularly 'evil', and banned on an individual basis?
i was never a jw, but was in the worldwide church of god...the two are rather similar, i've seen many (and made quite a few myself) comparisons on the board; and i can remember as a child that every once in a while certain things would get brought up as being more evil and worldly than others.. examples of specific bans:.

how do you feel about mandatory military service?
by The Humper ini was watching the democratic debate on tv today, well some of it, and this was one of the topics.

many countries do it and have no problems.
Actually, I think you''d be best of looking at the differnces between those countries that still do and those that have stopped, and then decide what you want your country to be like; here are (from Wiki) the countrrees that stil do;
- 2.1 Albania
- 2.2 Austria
- 2.3 Belarus
- 2.4 Bermuda
- 2.5 Brazil
- 2.6 Bulgaria
- 2.7 Chile
- 2.8 China (PRC)
- 2.9 Croatia
- 2.10 Cyprus
- 2.11 Denmark
- 2.12 Egypt
- 2.13 Eritrea
- 2.14 Finland
- 2.15 Germany
- 2.16 Greece
- 2.17 Iran
- 2.18 Israel
- 2.19 Korea, South
- 2.20 Malaysia
- 2.21 Mexico
- 2.22 Norway
- 2.23 Poland
- 2.24 Russia
- 2.25 Serbia
- 2.26 Singapore
- 2.27 Sweden
- 2.28 Switzerland
- 2.29 Taiwan (ROC)
- 2.30 Turkey
- 2.31 Ukraine
The Nordics are the odd ones out, but they all have non-milliary options. Germany lets you off if you go to University. The rest of the post-industrialised world doesn't do it. Go figure.
and its mostly with the males. not mandatory for females.
I really can't stand sexism like this. I think any manditory military service should include women as well. Otherwise equal rights is just a joke, and more importantly because politicians might be a little more cautious about using girls as cannon fodder as it looks bad.
it wouldnt be such a bad thing really?
Well, in terms of human rights, yes actally, it would be that bad.
what else have you got to do right after high school?
Errrr... complete your education and NOT learn how to run round with guns? But what people do with THEIR time is irrelvent; they are not servaets of the government, they are citizens, and in a free country labour should not be forced.
and not like 4yrs just 2yrs. whats 2 yrs anyway? not a very long period of time.
Again, irrelevent. It's not how long, it's the principle that forced labur and free countries are not compatible.

Please pause a moment from fapping yourself to realise 95% of the active posters on this board despise JW's to one extent or the other. They are a mad cult and we are some of the people that got out.
Of course, if you'd paused just two minute before trolling and read some posts, even someone with as noticable a lack of brains as yourself would have realised this.
Oh, and using homosexuality as an insult is so gay...

With respect, although I would oppose legal compulsion for adults your example of forced abortion is silly. The law is intended to save life by allowing doctors to give treatment against a patient's will; it is not intended to allow a doctor to grab a pregnant women on a whim and abort her.

The Hyena - Testament to a Grand Creator! No, wait....
by PopeOfEruke inwhat a masterful example of jehovahs's loving kindness and wisdom is the hyena.. most carefully jehovah designed the birth canal of the female hyena to abruptly do a 140 degree turn just before the normal place of exit for the birth canal and change direction back to the head of the mother.
the birth canal then ends in what is generally referred to as a female pseudo-penis, a narrow tube exiting the body exactly where the male penis does.. .
when the young hyena mother first gives birth, most times the young get stuck around the bend or lower down in the tight "penis", where they suffocate and die.

Oh, this has been a favourate of mine for ages.
Problem is, when you do use it on a Dubbie, they don't tend to have the mental courage to pursue the obvious implications, or the education to actually see the implications.
I'm still waiting for my brother (a JW) to get back to me on it.

Godhead
by Messianic inromans 1:20 is the second place the word "godhead" is found in the scripture.
in this verse the apostle starts off saying "the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen.
paul was speaking about god's divine nature, and was not talking about three manifestations of god.

Look, you do it to yourself you do. I almost KNOW you will be in on any thread insisting that something that is unproven exists and there is a big cover-up that you know about as you are so clever.
Rense is simply a site that accumulates information from all over the place. Much of it is inaccurate and biased but since it simply posts such material uncritically, I find it repellent that you simply dismiss such items altogether lumped together prejudicially.
Using a site that knowingly publishes any concievable rubbish as a source of information is like using a trash can as a source of food. There's an evolutionst called Hooberus on this board who uses a website I have shown time and time again to be utter rubbish to support his mad Creationist beliefs. I am sure you think he's mistaken yet your research has all the rigour, reliability and methodology of his.
Simply because it's posted there means nothing as to its origin or truthfulness, it's just posted there.
And as for the matter of UFO's , I don't see how any honest person can investigate this field, even superficially, and not conclude that the US government is not to be believed on the subject.
LOL. That assumpton is based on you assuming there is truth to stories of UFO's. Can't you see the flaw in the logic of that?
Some people say they have seen UFO's -> You think there are UFO's -> Therefore any denial of UFO's by the US government is a lie.
It's called presupositionalism; doesn't matter whether one is presupposing the existence of god or of UFO's, in neither case does one have EVIDENCE, but despite this the presumption is used as a truth to base an argument on. Rather than provide proof of UFO's you blame the US government for you not being able to prove your theory.
The semi-official COMETA report from French military and political officials made this same point. So, when you assert that 'hoaxers' exist as the cause for some phenomena, I suggest you contrast such with the proven fact that the US government has little credibility in this and many other matters. Life is often a game of poker and you have no choice but to choos one liar over others.
Just like the brainless 9/11 possee. They use the fact the US government sucks like a cheap whore and has similar morals to one. On top of this reasonable fact and all the stuff that is provable (Iran in the '50's, The False Cold War, refusing to broker peace in Afghanistan when the Russians wanted to withdraw, destabilisation of democratic Latin American reigemes, WoMD, the list goes on and on), they build little fantasies and use the US's track record to insist that IF it was untruthful in x example (say the False Cold War), it must be untruthful about UFO's and 9/11.
They ignore that the ones that are provable are provable, and the ones that aren't aren't, insisting that it is the US governmrent's fault they can't prove their monmanacal conspiracy theories.
But meta, you obviously like believing this stuff, so I doubt argment will pursuade you otherwise.

If you were thinking of buying a car, and the salesman said;
"One thing you must never do is listen to anyone who has owned this car in the past and then sold it; they are all liars or mislead, and you will be decieved by them and lose out on the opporunity to drive the car."
Would you buy a car off someone who tried to stop you talking to any previous owners?
If you would, I have a car you might be interested in. PM me.
If you wouldn't, then stay and learn why so many JW's are xJW's.

So sick to death of the whole 'find Maddie' campaign - now includes Pope
by needproof ini am sure most of you are now aware of the missing british girl madeleine mccann, who was abducted from portugal a few weeks ago.
the media is making a massive thing about this, and i am just wondering why.
they say 70,000 kids go missing each year in the uk alone - but this case seems to be unique in that it is so widely reported.

I would caution people against subscribing to urban myths.
'Everyone' knows that people are deliberately killed to make snuff movies right?
http://www.snopes.com/horrors/madmen/snuff.asp
And obviously there is a burgoning child sex slave industry
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/guest_contributors/article1795921.ece
http://www.walnet.org/csis/papers/doezema-loose.html
Obviously some girls are kidnapped by organised criminal gangs an held as slaves, or so close to slaver as makes no difference. But the evidence of world-wide organised rings of child sex-slavers simply isn't there.
Unfortunately the missing ones are mostly likely taken by local sexual predators, there's no need to make up a massive conspiracy. It's just easy and more comforting to make your nice neighour not a suspect at the cost of demonising some fictional crime lord.
I also so think it is way easy to judge others; the other kid needproof mentioned was playing outside its grandmother's door in the heart of the countryside and went missing. One can go along the road of due dilegence straight into the arms of lack of persective. I doubt for one moment any one would regard them as careless or bad parents until this happened they're the same people they were beforehand. Let's not forget who the criminals in this really are.

She's a pretty, white. blonde girl from a good family with educated parents.
I totally agree with 'what about the rest'?
But I also know if such a tragedy befell me or mine I would ride the press until it screamed like the whore it is to keep the story in the press.
