What more do you want?

  Sound like the wtr is on the run, especially with the comment in par7 about Simeon living all his life in imenent expectation nut dying before it came.

  Par15: Pressure may also be experienced by a mature christian who helps one fellow believer after another to deal with difficult situations. In such cases, the one who gives encouragement may also be in need of receiving it.

  Is this an open admission of all the wrong doing that elders ect do and get away with?

  The telewest arena holds 10,000 people, and the last few years theres been about 6-7,000 attending the assembly. I can't ever remember seeing anybody protesting outside it.

  Blackcat might be watching first division football next year but Sunderland AFC(aka'the Blackcats'...) are second favorite to come back up next year. The favorite is the Titanic.

  i've found loads of old watchtower's and golden age's for sale on www.ebay.co.uk.

  then just type watchtower into the search.

  most of them date from 1912 through to the 1940s, and are currently at about three pound each, but the auction finishes in about 5 hours so be quick.

  Theres bound to be loads of good reading in these to find weird old policies, and you can imagine witnesses faces if instead of quoting 'apostate' liturature to them you just use watchtowers.

  If the Isrealites held public trials/hearings, and this is also a constitutional right for americans under the 6th amendment, why are the judicial committee hearings private and not public? Not that I want to do my dirty laundry in public, but is this another example of the society not following the laws of the land?

  I love my old Alice Cooper albums. I wasn't too old when they first came out, but a few years ago a sister decided her conscience couldn't let her keep them anymore, so I've been looking after them since then. I mustn't have been as good as she was...

  Militant Apostates

  i'm wondering if there are many truly militant apostates out there....... some real god hating watchtower bashing hard guys....i just read the "bill bowen update" thread and feel that all opposition is good opposition, and knowing that the wt society can see any posts we make, also feel its a shame they can see squabbles among their enemies.

  I agree with minimus. I'm naturally militant, but have learnt if you go too far people just ignor you, they find it very easy walking past people with placards or handing out leaflets at assemblies. But if you went to an assembly entrance dressed in a lamb costume (A la 'Trigger Happy TV'), giving out balloons with a silentlambs logo on for example, you can imagine the long queue of kids you'd have wanting one to walk around with and parents trying to explain why they can't have one - "Its because their trying to stop child abuse." It would've got me thinking.

  i wonder what percentage of jehovah's witnesses actually practise the shunning policy personally?

  i've been df'd since 1972. since then i have encountered numerous jw's, either by chance encounter in the street or in social situations such as pubs and restaurants.

  i've come across several in work situations also.

  I've been DF'd for 6 months, and the only people who shun me are the elders in my hall. I've bumped into quite a few people when I'm out and about, and mostly they stop to say hi and ask how I'm doing. This includes a few elders from other halls too. Quite a few people say hi when I go into the hall too. I think its one of those things where they'll turn a blind eye as long as its not too obvious, or they want something against you. Thats my experience anyway.
