Does anyone know exactly what they look like, or where you can get hold of similar ones? You could have a lot of fun...

"Special Blue Envelopes"
by Oroborus21 inbeen reading some boe letters that mention "special blue envelopes" evidently used for judicial correspondence between the society and the congregations.. frankly, i had never even heard of them before.. any former elders out there want to describe them for me?
(yeah i know they are "special" and they are "blue" .
more importantly, are there any former bethelites that can describe the process or treatment of these at hq?.

You just can't win .......................
by integ inwith staunch jw's you just can't convince them to even take a look at the possibility they may not be the all encompassing " truth".
at least on the surface, they will not admit that everything is not perfect.
maybe deep inside they have some doubts about certain things, but their pride will not allow them to ever change, it seems.

If people think you are having a go at them they'll just clam up and ignore everything you say to them. But if your friendly and chatty with them, they'll get comfortable with you and let their guard down. If you make a thought provoking comment as part of the conversation, then immediately change the subject as if nothings wrong, their guard will stay down but the idea will stick in their head until something triggers the memory and they atart thinking about it. This is a big problem in prisons, where the inmates are constantly trying to get at the officers, Its conditioning.

Have you ever had a "part" in an assembly?
by doodle-v inwell guys, i've been part of this discussion group for about two weeks and i must say it's been really fun!
i always look forward to reading everyone's thoughts on so many different topics.. i grew up in the troof, so needless to say it was a major part of my life.
my whole childhood was engulfed in meetings, field service, book study, bible study, watchtower study.

I was in that demonstration too! Except I WAS one of the bad ones. funny how things turn out... We had to sit in the back row in our jeans and I had to keep getting up to go to the toilet. I can remember how boring it was (I was 12 at the time), and we had to go to 2 assemblies, and loads of practice sessions. The looks on peoples faces when I was walking round the sessions in jeans was good though.

Question
by Gadget inone thing i always wondered, but no one was able to answer.
when you preach to others, you encourage them to read the watchtower ect to gain knowledge about the bible, but wittnesses aren't supposed to read any other religious material.
i know this is because if they read it they might find the real truth, but how do wittnesses justify asking others to read material when they won't do the same themselves?

Any idea who could star in it?

Last year at an assembly a long way from where a live I bumped into an elder I've known for most of my life. Last time I saw him, a few years ago, I had a few things going on in my life and we had argument after arguement about why things were covered up in the congregation, how some could do so many wrong things and they be covered up, no matter how bad they were. And others who'd been wronged by them were just ignored and given the cold shoulder. He got the fright of his life when he saw me, and was so uncomfortable so I kept the conversation going as long as I could. I saw him a few weeks later on tv, he was the one sent by the society to sort out the congregation in the paranama special on child abuse! Wonder if thew cover up there felt familiar to him?

To whom belongs all the Watchtower's wealth?
by JH ini know this won't happen, but who would get all the money and the buildings and the lots, if the watchtower society would close down?
how many people would benefit from this?.
are there any figures on how much wealth the watchtower has accumulated over the years?

Anyone know what other other corporations are owned by the society? Any well known ones? Is there any dodgy deals to be dug up here? If the society run these corporations would the governing body be liable for any legal infringements by them?

Quick Builds
by Gadget inhas any body any idea how good the workmanship is on quickbuilds?
normally if you get a group of people who don't know about building you get chaos.
i know a few years ago they were changed from 48hrs to 2weekend, something to do with not being able to lay the bricks fast enough, new legislation limiting how many courses could be done in a day.

searchfothetruth, does that mean your on the quickbuild photo's on display at Crosby hall, merseyside? Their the first thing you see when you walk in there! I mystriously disappeared from all the photo's I was on from ones I went to....

Need some help on the blood issue
by TemeculaMole in.
i was having a discussion with my mom about the blood issue.
she asked me a good question which i did not have the answer for.. what was the purpose of the god saying to abstain or dont eat blood?
-
Gadget
Yeah is this not just anothor "burden" for us, similar to the tree in the garden of eden. There was nothing actually wrong with eating the fruit, but jehovah ordered it not to be eaten aas a test of Adam & Eves faith. Isn't not having blood just the same?
