  Memorial Night

  the memorial this year was the first one i've been to since being df'd.

  when they were passing the emblems they missed out the row where me and another df'd brother were sitting.

  the other person said it had been happening for the last 5 years he'd be going back to meetings.

  The memorial this year was the first one I've been to since being DF'd. When they were passing the emblems they missed out the row where me and another DF'd brother were sitting. The other person said it had been happening for the last 5 years he'd be going back to meetings. I wasn't happy with this so I had a word with one of the elders at the next meeting. He said that it was beacause of a question from readers in the 50s where it said that Judas was not at the last supper when jesus passed the emblems, so modern day judas's(DA'd & DF'd) should not be offered them either. I asked how this correlated with a question from readers in 1976 about what would be done if a DF'd person partook of the emblems(A situation which would not occur if they were not passed to them), and also a watchtower study article from 1990 that stated that the emblems should be passed to all in attendance. The elder got quite agitated at this and mumbled something about reviewing the situation for next year.

  Has anyone else here been in that situation, or know of something similar done by the elders

  If You Never Were a JW What Religion Would You Have Been?

  personally, i find catholicism too weird and if followed properly, just another "cult".

  if i was not raised as a witness, i probably would have been a "home baptist" or something like that.

  what do you think you would have been, religiously speaking, if you were not first a witness?

  When my family was first contacted my dad was training to be a medium, so I probably would have been a spiritualist. Also on my mothers side, all my grandfathers family were spriritualists, apparently quite high up. obviously as good wittnesses we didn't have any contact with the, but this has just made me more curious about the whole thing.

  Disfellowshipping

  hi, i wonder if someone can give me some information on the disfellowshipping/reinstating process.

  i appealed my disfellowshipping and at the appeal hearing they went to deliberate.

  they spent 10min on their own, over an hour with the original committee, then 5-10 min on their own again before disfellowshipping me.

  I've been reading in the elders manual 5c about appeal committees, and that they are to see if the original decision was sound, based on what happened in the original committee. Does this mean that any new evidence heard is not taken into account? Would this explain why the appeal committee was so quick in reaching a decision?

  Mental Illness

  the national alliance for the mentally ill website defines mental illness as: mental illnesses are disorders of the brain that disrupt a person's thinking, feeling, moods, and ability to relate to others.

  they further define schizophrenia as:schizophrenia is a brain disorder that interferes with a persons ability to think clearly, manage emotions, make decisions, and relate to others.

  many people with schizophrenia have hallucinations and delusions, meaning they hear and see things that arent there and believe things that are not real or true.. doesn't this sound like some of the "faith"ful?

  Chemical imbalances can often be controled by medication and let the person lead a normal life. Its the same as someone taking antacids to control a chemical imbalance in their stomac, but people put such a stigma on it. I know of a few wittnesses who keep on having relapses because they feel guilty for taking medication and talking to therapists ect instead of talking to the elders. Its screwing peoples lives up. If you had a broken leg would you go to the elders for help, or to the trained dr's at the hospital?

  In my family the elders always remembered when we done something to help the older ones. They remembered us when they had someone else that needed help so they could pass the buck to someone already rushed of their feet doing thing for others. My mother is exausted because she gets a bad conscience if she tells the elders she needs help in caring for some of the elderly ones. Even though the elders notice this shes always the first one they approach if there is something else needing done.

  felt a little bored earlier so i decided to take a trip over to the wt's badly researched propaganda official site, when i stumbled upon this little gem concerning the wiccan faith:.

  Smurfs are demonised? Does that mean we've got to stop using bluetac(smurf poo)?

  I've known loads of people doing the fade that have got interested with witchcraft, ect. Is this just a comment on the people I know, or is a more widespread thing on people leaving the organisation? How prevalent is it in general society compared with xjw's?

  Am I an Agnostic?

  i've been doing some reading on agnostics lately and i've also been doing some thinking of my own.. see, the way i see it is i do believe that there is *a* god or maybe even more than one.

  i also don't disbelieve satan or demons but i do think they're way overrated.

  i just think that we don't have sufficient information.

  What vote was this? Who voted on it and when? Any ideas what books only just got in, and which one missed out? If the prophetic books only just made it then all the stuff fortold for our day could be there by mistake...

  "Special Blue Envelopes"

  been reading some boe letters that mention "special blue envelopes" evidently used for judicial correspondence between the society and the congregations.. frankly, i had never even heard of them before.. any former elders out there want to describe them for me?

  (yeah i know they are "special" and they are "blue" .

  more importantly, are there any former bethelites that can describe the process or treatment of these at hq?.

  Blue envelopes are easy to get from art suppliers (Near me anyway). Are they A4 or A5? Any smaller and there would be problems folding the sheets of the forms. Do they have address windows, address labels, hand written addresses or preprinted? Do they use standard stamps, are they franked or are they prepaid? What about the forms for inside them? Would it be possible to replicate one of these and nominate people to DA themselves? Would it be possible to make it authentic enough so that the society processes it and send the stamped reply back to an unsuspecting congregation? I've got an evil streak....
