They may not be DF'd for asssociating with a DF'd person, but there are different ways of doing things. The threat of losing priviledges, being marked out as a bad associate in the congregation, etc, can have just as much an impact to make the person want to cut off contact with a DF'd person.

A Secret about DF'ing that Elders will not tell you.
by Amazing inone of the big issues affecting ex-jws is being shunned by their close relatives.
this can be especially painful for parents, children or siblings.
the jw relative may even make some exceptions to associate in the name of "necessary" business, but then later on their conscience "pricks" them, and they realize that they have pushed the envelope too much and they withdraw their association altogether ... or ... the society comes out with some article or the co comes to town, and manage to ding on some issue that make jws feel guilty about associating with df'd and da'd relatives.

Did you ever say/do anything as a dub that went against your conscience?
by BLISSISIGNORANCE ini ask this question because now that i'm out of the borg and see things for what they are, i have been reflecting on what i did and said as a dub.. i truly believed in the preaching work when i was in.
i believed in alot of the things from the bible.
so for me, the preaching was something i enjoyed.

I bought a CD (Tenacious D) but when I listened to it, the other people who where with me pressured me into taking it back to the shop because of all the stuff on it. It pricked my conscience that I wasn't being true to myself, that I was only doing things for the 'truth' because of other people. It wasn't a 'bible trained conscience' it went against, but it was my conscience nevertheless.

OUR MENTAL HEALTH
by RAYZORBLADE inno epiphany whatsoever, but i was pondering this subject tonight on my way back home from work.. there are many subjects on the matter of health, and of course: post jw, our mental health.. for most of you, how would you rate your present mental health?.
comparitively, our physical health, depending upon what ails us, we can generally heal and feel better after brief or extended recovery time.. mental health on the other hand, is definitely long lasting.. i've been almost 20 years outside of the jws, but i think it nearly took me that entire 20 years to get where i am today.. sad, but true.
anyone like to contribute their thoughts on this matter.. thank you.

For the last 6 months or so I have been very stressed. But since I moved in to my new house, I feel like much better. I don't know if its having my own space, being away from my parents going on about witness things all the time, finally owning up that I'm not getting reinstated and not having to hide how I feel, or a combination of the three. Whatever it is, I just know I feel a heck of a lot better now.

My dream bike would be a Ducati 999, but theres no way I could get one of them in the near future. Much more realistically I would like a TL1000. Am I the only person on here that prefers sports bikes? For me the best bits of having a bike was getting from point to point as fast as possible, especially on the twisty country roads near where I live. Disclaimer: I only went about 70(ish) mph!

What's the most ridiculous thing you were ever counselled on?
by micheal inone of the cornerstones of jw's is counsel.
they just love to give counsel and many times they will literally make things up just for the sake of counsel.
i was once counselled for joking around too much.

I was counselled for knocking back 5 pints once!
Was the counsel for not keeping up with the elders to get the rounds in?
I got counseled for the stickers on the back of my car in the hall car park. One said 'Fresh Air Ram Technology', and the other, 'Performance Enhancing Noise Induction System'. Funnily enough, now that I remember they never said anything to me about it, they went to see my dad instead.
