11/15/52 WT p. 703 We are not living today among theocratic nations where such members of our fleshly family relationship could be exterminated for apostasy from God and his theocratic organization, as was possible and was ordered in the nation of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai and in the land of Palestine. Being limited by the laws of the worldly nation in which we live and also by the laws of God through Jesus Christ, we can take action against apostates only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with both sets of laws. The law of the land and God’s law through Christ forbid us to kill apostates, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship.
When I read blondies post I thought it was very thought provoking but would probably not work out in practice. Then I read the qoute above in he WT review saying the only reason they don't kill apostates is that they aren't allowed to. Shows what the world would really be like if jws ran it.

So the only reason they don't kill apostates is that they are not allowed to? And I thought that love was one of the identifying signs of the true religion, and that jesus said to love your enemy?

Thats the way I see more and more happening. They don't have to justify anything anymore because people believe it no matter what. Are they becoming complacent that loyal followers will not question them?
well, i might have went a little too far this time, but when someone pushes me, i push back, that's just the way i am.. my parents worst saying, and was probaly one of the reasons that i left jw land was ..................."the worst person at the kingdom hall is better than the best person in the world.".
if i had a dollar for everytime i heard that growing up.. so, i asked my mom if she still felt that way, she said sort of (very carefully), i said so the jw child molesters are still better then people in the world, is that how you really feel ?
she started to cry, before it was the media just making up stories, now i think she is realizing that "some" of these stories are true.. she asked me why i hate the jw's so much.. i said i don't hate the jw's, i hate the organization and the lies.
"Well, it doesn't matter because they're not serving Jehovah whole souled. They hardly ever come to the meetings bla bla bla....."
Isn't one of the signs of the true religion that they will have love among themselves? And this just show how much true love they have.

Good post Blondie.
If Jehovah's Witnesses ruled the world...
...then stop the world, I want to get off.
what's up, people?
been a while since i've posted.
anyhow, just thinking about 9/11 the other day as i was watching a special on tv which has made me realize that for years we were part of an organization that has looked forward to the death of the vast majority of mankind in much the same manner as the 9/11 tragedy (check out some of the pictures and witness porn from older publications especially).

I never thought of it like that before, I wonder how many witnesses have.
Not according to them they were down there preaching the word.
But according to another poster on this board, when they turned up at the bethel immediately after the attack there was security guards stopping people going in and they had to show their blood cards to gain refuge. A bit different to what they said in the magazines....
so the dixie chicks are abandoning country for rock.
apparently because they're not appreciated or understood by the country music industry and fans.
didn't we have some sort of post-anti-bush discussion about how they were making more money since their ill-fated comments?
....then there's Metallica.
The only Metallica album I've really listened to is the one with the philharmonic orchestra, which I like. If I want to chill/relax I listen to rock music with classical instruments in them, but normally I its the faster and the harder the better as long as there is a strong melody I like it.
i just got off the phone to a friend who was at a wedding last saturday.

I just got off the phone to a friend who was at a wedding last saturday. It was a sad day because the groom had cancer and only had a year or so to live. They had a family party on the Sunday and he died suddenly there. His tumor burst into his lungs and he drowned on his blood in front of the whole family. I didn't know him too well but its hit home to me how short life is. How much time have I wasted doing what other people wanted me to do, going to meetings, on field service, studying, etc. I never really believed it, I only ever stayed in because of it was what my parents wanted, why rock the boat etc. If something like that happened to me I wouldn't want my last thoughts to be about why I spent so much of my life following the orders of a book company. I want to go out and life my life as much as I can.
