I highly doubt that the believers in 'living forever'....whether in 'Heaven' or on a 'Paradise Earth'..... can even articulate or comprehend what the term 'forever' really entails. The human mind cannot really grasp the true implications of 'living forever'. Multiply 'forever' by 1,000,000 and you still have 'forever' left to live. Most people don't really even appreciate and make the most of the 'actual' life they are living NOW! Would doing that 'forever' be any different?? No, folks, this living forever business is yet another example of Magical Thinking. Many cultures in the near and distant past have believed in some sort of 'afterlife'. I hate to break it to you, but all those people are now DEAD and gone, forever! They don't 'come back' from the dead and they don't 'live forever' in some made-up 'Heaven' or 'Paradise Earth'. Stop believing in Fairy Tales, and 'Come up to present time'. Life is occurring NOW, not in some hoped-for mythical 'future'.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses the only religion to teach a paradise earth?
by rory-ks ini have tried researching, but this pesky organisation always packs out the list.
you seem to have to drill down several layers before reaching christadelphians.. is it a recognised idea among other peoples/religions?.

I hate to tell you, but your 'good friend' has dropped you like a hot potato. Same thing happened when I was studying with a MS about 5 years ago. As soon as I started asking probing questions, he abruptly stopped coming over. My reaction was to write him off totally and stop attending KH meetings. Your friend is obviously a lost cause. All you can do is try to alert your family members that it IS a cult. Maybe your experience will wake them up. Hope things go well. PS: ask your wife if she has any good explanation as to why your 'friend' broke off contact with you, after you started asking sincere questions.

If Jehovah God Really Loved Humans & This Earth How Might He Show It?
by minimus insupposing that you might say that you believe in god, how might a god of love, show that he really cares about us all?.

'Jehovah' should show that he loves humans by admitting that he is a figment of the Bible writers' fevered imaginations, so finally people can stop believing in fairy tales. If he did that, humans could learn to rely on their own inner resources, instead of looking to a Big Man in the Sky to solve all their problems.

ISIS Kills American Soldier, Will Watchtower Speak Out Finally?

Interestingly, cults seem to ALWAYS tell their followers: 'OUR way is the solution to ALL your problems.'. Unfortunately, there are always gullible people who fall for it.

Why was such a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT thing as Internet not foretold in the Bible?
by Pinku injws claim that even such a small thing as proclaiming 1986 as the international year for peace was foretold in the bible.
this raises the question: why was such a great thing as internet (the influence of which could not even be compared with anything in the history at all) not foretold in the bible?
with internet and tv the world has become literally a global village!.

The Internet, television, computers, etc were not predicted by the Bible's authors because they didn't in fact have any real knowledge about the future. They were essentially trapped within their own era and the thinking of that time. No predictions in the Bible have ANY basis in reality. Thinking they do is just wishful, magical thinking. The best example of this is the complete inaccuracy of ALL Watchtower predictions. Not knowing what the future holds might be scary to some, but clinging to the predictions of a 2000 year old book is not the answer.

JWs are a current topic at Daily Kos

I don't get the impression that the writer really knows what the JWs are all about. He just viewed them as nice people at his door who are worried about global warming and other social problems. He doesn't realize that it's all a disguised strategy to lure prospective members by seeming to be sincere and nonthreatening. Too bad he didn't dig a little deeper into what the Witnesses REALLY believe.

My guess is that they will mention it in an article, but not very forcefully.

Are we starting to treat DF people differently?
by Quarterback insome may remember the time when the private study edition of the wt wasn't to be made available to outsiders, and the df'd.. now, with the recent boe letter, sept 1, 2014, it specifically states that jw.org is making the km available even for df'd individuals.. do you sense a new trend developing?.

I maintain my position that DFing and Shunning will soon be discontinued. Impossible??? Nobody thought the Soviet Union would collapse either, nor that the Berlin Wall would be torn down, before it happened. One thing I have learned in my 65 years is to NEVER say 'never'. Many times over the years, I have predicted that 'impossible' things would occur, and eventually my predictions proved correct. I can certainly be wrong, but let's just wait and see what happens in the next year or two.

I look for a big announcement very soon, within a year, that disfellowshipping will be ended, and shunning will no longer be necessary. I see this as being a public relations move, since shunning has gotten the Witnesses a lot of bad press. Family members shunning other family members isn't good PR, especially in the Internet era. Of course, the risk will be that, once shunning has ended, a large number of Witnesses will leave the Organization. Am I dreaming? Maybe, yet with JW.ORG in full swing, it seems anything is now possible.
