I just checked the JW.ORG website and noticed an article about the JW response to Ebola. As I suspected, the ENTIRE focus was on alerting and educating JW MEMBERS about Ebola.Just like in other disaster situations, the JW Organization almost exclusively assists it's own members, ignoring the general public. It seems their main concern is keeping their members healthy so they can CONTINUE TO SPREAD THE JW MESSAGE DOOR TO DOOR!!! To me this JW.ORG article confirms my belief that The Witnesses ultimately only care about their own members and nobody else. After all, the non- JWs are just going to die at Armageddon anyway, so why bother with them. And the article is quick to report how many WITNESSES have died from Ebola, as if only their deaths are noteworthy. Anyway, check out the article about Ebola on JW.ORG. See what you think.

Back when I was studying with a Witness MS, I got invited to the home of an Elder and his wife for a 'Turkey Dinner'. Of course it was a day or two before or after the 'real' Thanksgiving Day. The meal was great, but I couldn't help wondering what would have been so wrong with actually having the meal on Thanksgiving Day. JWs can be so petty when it comes to any type of enjoyable holiday celebration. Yet when I asked the MS I studied with about celebrating Thanksgiving, he told me there was nothing wrong with it because it was just showing thanks to Jehovah. But had I been baptized it would have been a different story entirely.

FuGK This Religion- Stop Ruining My Life!!!
by wallievase ini am sorry for the title but today just took the cake.
after not going to the meetings since august and trying to sort through this with my family, my wife today told me she wants to separate because of our differences over being a witness or not.. this is ridiculous.
so i said- how can you separate from me when the religion you whole heartedly believe says you can only separate for 3 reasons- abuse, willful non-support, or stopping her from her meeting attendance, etc.

Sorry to hear of your troubles with your JW wife. One of the hallmarks of a brainwashed cult member is that they can't handle anyone having differing views and opinions. They feel like THEIR way is the ONLY way. Ask your wife to give you a BIBLE-BASED reason for wanting a separation. Ask for specific verses If she can't provide them, tell her to ask the Elders and get back to you. The only reason they will be able to give is that you have a differing opinion about religious matters. Your wife is obviously just following the party line fed to her by the Elders and fellow JWs Please get back to us after your wife answers your specific questions. Best of luck!!!

Did Jehovah program us to have a free will? If so, how free are we?
by I_love_Jeff insince the jehovah's witnesses believe we have no indwelling immortal spirit, are we like robots programmed with a special code called "free will"??
since robots have no indwelling immortal spirit, they can be programmed to do whatever man wants them to.
nice control tactic.. .

Yadda yadda 2: As far as paranormal experiences go, I can't comment on a personal level. I do have instances when I happen to think of a person, and then minutes later that person calls me. But I have no explanation for it. IF ghosts exist, I think they are likely visitors from another parallel dimension, NOT the spirits of dead humans. The human mind is very powerful, so it can undoubtedly manufacture seemingly supernatural experiences that are beyond our normal everyday senses. I think there is far more to life and the Universe than we currently know, but I don't think the churches have the answers to it.

I agree with the JW idea that humans don't have a separate 'soul' which inhabits the body and somehow survives after bodily death. There is absolutely no concrete proof that a 'soul' exists at all. Humans are strictly biological organisms, the same as all other living things. A person lives for a period of time and then eventually dies. Just like all other living creatures. There is no 'soul' that somehow magically survives death and then 'goes to heaven'. Folks, it's all a convoluted fairy tale dreamed up in the fevered imaginations of Bible writers. Strictly Magical Thinking. We live. We die. The bottom line is: You're alive NOW......make the most of the life you have. This is it!!!

Question for those converted to JW as adults
by DaleRivers inwhy did you become a jw, what particular teachings attracted you to 'the truth' ?.
.
in my case (baptized at 20/21) it was the only religion i knew; my mom, her mom, and favorite sister were jw; and the teachings of no hellfire or immortal soul made sense to me.. .

Always Busy: please tell us the rest of the story. After you and your kids got baptized, how long was it before you 'saw the light'?? Were you then shunned by the new congregation? Did your children continue to be active JWs? Did you eventually join another religion after the Witnesses?

Be Honest About This Doctrinal Matter
by lambsbottom inwife says she always thought the wt said that anyone alive at armageddon that did not get a chance to hear kingdom message may survive?
true?
references?.

JWs focus almost exclusively on 'surviving Armageddon' and thus cheating death. As with most Christian religions, the focus is on DEATH. Religion seems to be a major way that people deal with the 'problem' of death. Mainly that it can somehow be 'survived' in one form or another. Really folks, what's the big deal about death? Everything that is alive eventually dies.....birds, fish, plants, insects, animals, reptiles, etc. They don't have an 'afterlife' and neither do humans. When we die, we die. Gone forever. That's the reality, and no amount of Magical Thinking can make it otherwise. So live your life NOW, and make the most of the time you are alive. This is it!!

Letts shows up noo "generation" teaching
by hamsterbait inin his preesentation, he speaks to "you the young ones".
"you are the next generation of " adult witnesses.
this one sentence using generation in the normal way, at a stroke, shows they just made up the overlapping teaching to get themselves out of a hole.. .

Just start noticing: No speech by any GB member has any real inner spiritual depth to it. All they can come up with are hare-brained personal opinions and Company platitudes. BORING!!!! Heaven help the poor deluded JW kid who actually finds that rubbish interesting and inspiring.

All of the GB members are in actuality just uneducated ego-maniacs who are too full of themselves to realize what utter imbeciles they sound and look like. In all of the talks I've heard them give, never once have I sensed any inkling of genuine spiritual depth. They are opinionated company yes-men who love to hear the sound of their own voices. But nothing comes out when they move their lips, just a bunch of gibberish.

I HOPE the GB decides to televise a Memorial Observance next year. That would REALLY show the world how totally nutty and weird the JWs are.
