The FIRST thing a troubled JW should say to an Elder who wants to 'counsel' them: 'First, can I please see your license showing that you are an official psychologist, psychotherapist, marriage counselor or Medical Doctor?'. If they cannot produce any of these documents, tell them you would prefer assistance from a trained and licensed professional. End of discussion.

by punkofnice ina young jw i used to know (nice person), said within earshot to a non df'd ex jw he knew that his "..parents are up and down in the relationship and the elders(tm) are going to help.".

I live in the extreme NW corner of Washington state and love it. Altho there are Witnesses up here, the general population is less religious than other parts of the U.S. I doubt you will have anyone being too nosy about which church you attend. If anyone asks, just tell them you prefer to keep your beliefs a private matter. End of discussion. Should any Witnesses come to your door, just tell them you don't want to talk to them and to not come back again. Do not engage in any conversation and NEVER tell anyone here that you were ever involved with the Witnesses. People up here really wouldn't even be interested.....they prefer to mind their own business. I hope your move goes well, and welcome to the Pacific Northwest!!!

Steven Lett Governing body tells his Grandfather beaten for playing loud Rutherford records....Why??
by Witness 007 inat the international convention melbourne brother lett of the group 2 faithful slave told an emotional story of his grandfather on a sidewalk in texas playing a rutherford recording loudly till a irratated texan came out of a house, smashed the grammaphone and punched him in the face...if you ever heard rutherford you would know why.
for example religion is a snare and a racket invented by satan....no wonder they were banned..tarred and feathered...killed and put in jail playing the rantings of a maniac.
brother lett was proud of him...i pitty the fool.. .

Maybe some present-day householders will have a similar reaction when the Witnesses start playing Watchtower videos on their ipads at the doorstep. Maybe the GB will make some videos of their convention talks to 'entertain' those answering the door. What better way to drive the average person away from becoming a Witness. By the way, Rutherford's talks were about as appealing as Hitler's were.....they sounded very similar. I can just imagine how listening to that recorded crap from Rutherford would drive a householder to punch someone in the face.

Studying for the meetings vs. going on Facebook
by Coded Logic inmost people on this thread seem to agree that the internet is having a harmful effect on the wtbts ability to gain new recruits and retain jw children.
my question is do you think this has to do with the fact that those who leave are learning ttatt?
or is it that people are just spending more time of fb and instagram and don't really care much about studying and fs all the time?.

Hopefully, more younger JWs...teens especially.....will discover this website and will share it with their JW friends. That might develop into a whole 'underground' network of 'double life' youngsters following along on here and learning TTATT. They will be waiting with bated breath for the day they turn 18 and can tell their JW parents to piss off and then move out on their own, Watchtower-free.

Why does the Society no longer use strong language?
by LogCon inwhy does the society no longer use strong language, such as found in the march 1, 1949 wt, to expose false religion?.
"...for years now the united states government has had a succession of roman catholic men as postmaster general and in control of the post-office department, and about such there can be no doubt that they are agents and representatives of the vatican.
but to date has anyone ever heard of this religionist in office issuing an order forbidding the use of the united states mails for carrying on a racket of collecting money from roman catholics upon the representation that it is for the benefit of their dead.

Probably the Governing Body looked in the mirror and saw that the article was in reality talking about the same type of religious scam the Witnesses perpetrate. So they had to dial their language down a few notches.

What do Mark, Luke, and Paul all have in common?

i was a jw for 20 years and i never knew this!

What do Mark, Luke and Paul have in common?? For one thing, they are all considered 'Saints' by the Roman Catholic Church. So I guess that means they are sitting up in 'Heaven' just waiting for our prayers to them so they can put in a good word for us with Jesus/God. Another example of how the human imagination can dream up the most outlandish stories. And a certain type of 'believer' will buy these tall-tales hook, line & sinker. Instead of doing their own thinking and investigating, most people prefer to take their beliefs pre-packaged by a 'religion'. Similarly, a large majority of people simply unquestioningly adopt the religion of their parents. JWs certainly encourage this and never teach their kids to question where their beliefs originated.

Talk about 'yesterday's news'. How does this nonsense relate to the present world as it is in 2014??? That's my problem with constantly obsessing about the Bible and taking it all seriously. It's the same regurgitated silliness we've been hearing for centuries now. Time to move up to Present Time and live in the NOW, in the one life we have. Make the most of it instead of keeping your nose stuck in a 2000+ year old book of implausible stories from some Bible writer's fevered imagination.

I don't understand the psyche of JW
by bobld inthe majority have good jobs, drive newer vehicles, have nice homes,go on vacations.all in all they have the smarts.. however, rwhen it comes to their religion, they are dummer than a sack of hammers.they drive around in circles to get two hours of service time.they can't differentiate what the fds/gb say is from jehovah god, when in reality it is the stuff that comes out of a horses ass.what the horse eats(as it were food at the proper time from the gb) comes out of the horse as manure(shit sounds better) as a loving provision from jehovah.. .

The JWs are not really that different from almost all other religions. They play on the average person's fear of death, and offer simplistic 'solutions' to those fears. A very common solution is the dogma about either 'never having to die' or that after a person dies they will 'live forever' in some sort of Heaven or Paradise. Also, religions promote the idea of an all-knowing, all-loving Shy Daddy who watches over us and will grant our every request made via prayer. There, that's the entire basis of virtually ALL religious belief systems. They think they have the absolute 'Truth' wrapped up in a neat package. I personally would prefer a religion that DOESN'T claim to know everything and have all the answers. One that leaves room for adjustments and discovery of new ideas. Beware of groups that claim they have 'The Truth'.

According to the Watchtower, the GB (aka: FDS ) somehow get clear directions straight from Jehovah. And by their own admission 'it is impossible for God to lie'. So when the GB tell the rank and file Witnesses to obey their pronouncements they are saying Jehovah is commanding it. So, since jehovah cannot lie, once he says something it must therefore to TRUE from then on, absolutely. So the GB can't later issue conflicting directives without admitting that the original 'Truth' wasn't Jehovah's absolute truth at all. Back in the day, The Watchtower claimed that Jehovah PROMISED the End would come before the 1914 generation had all passed away. It was written in every Watchtower magazine for decades. What happened to THAT 'promise' from Jehovah???? Answer: It's all utter made-up nonsense, every word of it. The whole 'New Light' charade is just a coverup to hide the fact that it's just fallible men making all this stuff up as they go along.

Judge Rutherford did not know he was under the New Covenant in... 1929
by objectivetruth inthe new covenant is the single most important, claim to fame that jehovah's witnesses (the governing body) have.
in the 2014 watchtower 10/15 "you will become a kingdom of priests" the watchtower says the following :.
"by means of the new covenant, both jews and uncircumcised gentiles would have an equal opportunity to be heirs of gods kingdom, because their circumcision is that of the heart by spirit and not by a written code.

It's amazing how religions constantly obsess about The Bible instead of focusing on the PRESENT world and finding solutions to real problems. The only REAL life we ever have is in this present moment. The past is gone, the future isn't here yet. The next time you hear a JW or a Bible Student debating some obscure Biblical doctrine, ask yourself: Are they living in the real world of today, AS IT IS??? Or they worrying about words penned 2000+ years ago in a book written by men of that long-ago era? The only time we actually have is NOW. Live your life to the fullest and aim to help solve today's problems. The past and the future can take care of themselves. Come up to Present Time.
