To be VERY blunt, it sounds to me like you are in an 'escapist' mindset, wanting to abandon your debts and spend money you don't have. Sounds like a total pipe dream to me. There have got to be more sensible opportunities closer to home, without going thousands of miles away to have an 'experience' you aren't really sure will solve any of your problems. It kind of sounds like the same type of escapism JWs resort to.....putting off their real responsibilities in the hope of everything being solved in the New System. That's called Magical Thinking. My advice is to look for an actual job in a field that interests you, in or near where you now live. A PAYING job, so you can deal with your debts and start living an independent adult life. Give all this a lot of thought before you go running off on some pie-in-the-sky 'adventure' on borrowed money. Whatever you decide, I wish the best for you. Oh, and needless to say, cut ALL ties to the JWs if you value your sanity.

JWs don't celebrate thanksgiving because they are mindless drones subservient to a mind-controlling cult out of New York.

Two pet peeves of mine
by Sour Grapes inthere are two things that just drive me crazy.
one is that the art work in the watchtower is treated like they are actual still photo's taken thousands of years ago.
your will hear comments about look at the smiles on their faces or the sadnees or happiness in their eyes, or notice the reaction of the crowd, etc.

One question I have NEVER heard adequately answered: WHERE are all the factories for making clothing? Where are the plumbers? Electricians? Construction workers? No, it's ALWAYS a picture of very average, non-descript JWs eating fruit while tigers and lambs loll in the meadow nearby. Hard to believe there are grown people who actually fall for these fairy tales. My view is, if they are that gullible and unquestioning, then they deserve to be the pitiful pawns of a manipulative cult.

Wedding question
by lostinthought incan a witness get in trouble for attending an inactive family members wedding?
just wondering because i am getting married this summer and my mom tried to blackmail me by saying she and other family members would attend but only if i returned to the meeting.
i told her i am not going back to the meetings.

The best approach in my opinion is to just plan the wedding exactly the way you want it to be. Then invite the people you feel close to. Then it is strictly their decision as to whether to attend. Whatever they decide to do, don't allow it to affect your wedding one bit. For any Witnesses who do show up, make it clear that it is YOUR wedding and they are not allowed to bring their JW opinions and comments into the event. This is YOUR day.....don't let it be about THEM.

Scientific explanation of how spirit creatures could materialize
by EndofMysteries inin my science class book i was just reading about particles and antiparticles.. i'll just quote a few parts, "every type of particle in nature must also have an alter ego, an antiparticle........one fascinating property of particle-antiparticles pairs is that if you bring such a pair together, the two particles will annihilate each other......when the pair annihilates, the mass of the two particles is converted into energy which is carried away by a pair of photons.....the reverse is also possible, two photons may collide to produce a particle and it's antiparticle-by a process called pair production.. so assuming spirit creatures are made of energy, there is a scientific explanation of how energy can become physical mass, and physical mass to energy.
whether you believe they exist or not, i thought that was an interesting read and a way to explain how they could materialize and de-materialize.. .

'Spirit creatures'.....'ghosts'......'demons'.....''Bigfoot'.....'Vampires'......'Werewolves'......I put them all in the same category: Complete Nonsense! Jehovah's Witnesses are very gullible....they fall for all this stuff hook, line & sinker. It's hilarious!!

WT Study Article Nov. 23, 2014--Adam understood "day" to be 24 hours
by Cadellin ininteresting admission in today's wt: adam may have understood "day" (as in "in the day you eat from it, you will positively die") to be a literal 24-hour period.
i don't think the wt has ever said this before; the usual emphasis is that jah meant it as a figurative day, a day from his standpoint which is 1,000 years (and the article does state that, later).. however, if adam understood god's warning to be carried out in a 24 hour period, and god did nothing to alleviate that, then who did the lying?
actually, regardless of adam's understanding, the question still stands but moving toward an admission of the use of day in that context to be 24-hours only makes the question even more valid.

And what 'court reporter' was on hand in Eden to record this word for word conversation between God and Adam & Eve??? It's the same with much of the Bible.....who was there to write down exactly what was said and done between humans and God? It's all make-believe nonsense coming from the fevered imaginations of the Bible's authors. Bring up this question at the next Watchtower study: 'Who was there writing down all these conversations with God word for word????'

A Non J-Dub paying a visit to KingDumb Hall!
by J-DUBBED ini was thinking of doing a pop-in visit when they're doing their thing(what ever that might be).
to just see what it is that lures and hooks people, like our son.
i was worried there is some sort of subliminal messages in audio or video that start to brain-wash a person.

If you want to stir the pot a bit, while being love-bombed, ask the question: 'We have heard it said that Jehovah will annihilate billions of innocent non-Witness people worldwide at Armageddon. Can that possibly be correct???'. Then watch them try to squirm out of giving you a simple yes or no answer. Or they will change the subject altogether. This will tell you all you need to know about the Witnesses.

Ongoing frustration with wife
by Flipping El ini've tried taking the slow, patient approach with my wife.
i believe i first posted here about 13 months ago about my wife.. we've always had good communication and could talk endlessly about philosophy, neuroscience, sociology and then when i learned the ttatt, i clammed up a bit about spiritual things.
i'd always been fairly liberal, suggesting other alternative ideas, but then i told my wife about the un/ngo scandal (i ran across the guardian story doing a talk as an ms, lol!

This serves as a definite warning to young people looking for a mate: NEVER get involved in any way with a JW. They will always value the cult more than they value you and the relationship/marriage. JWs are experts at 'crazy-making' behavior. So the best bet is to stay FAR AWAY from any JW. They really are nuts!!!

Dec 2014 WT
by bobld in"of course,a close relationship will not last if one person does all the talking.
(in this case it is me talking to god)just as friends enjoy two-way communication,(right on)we should allow god to speak to us(yes i have allowed him to speak but he says nothing)and we should listen to him when he does.
(iam still waiting for him to say something).

The bottom line is: God isn't real. He doesn't exist except in people's imaginations. End of story!!

My advice is to just inform the Elders that you need to take a complete break for the time being. If they offer any objections, just say: 'I need time to privately discuss my personal problems with Jehovah. I don't need any assistance in doing that and prefer not to discuss it further. If I need help I will contact you.'. Don't let the Elders harrass you or start quoting Bible verses to you in order to guilt-trip you. That should get you out of your dilemma of being over-worked by the cult. After all, it's not like they are PAYING you to do all that stuff for them. Just stop volunteering!! After this, just gradually cut back on meeting attendance, stop participating in the Ministry School and stop answering questions during the Watchtower Study. Finish your college degree program and then once your have a job you can decide whether to cut all ties to the Warchtower cult. Best of luck!!!
