It's very hard to enjoy coffee and donuts while gagging from the content of the meeting.

My guess is that most JWs do not have the appropriate social skills to justify a coffee and snack session before or after the meetings.

Are my children in danger of being indoctrinated if I let them spend the night with their JW family?
by Butterflyleia85 inso... i'm writing because i have mixed feelings.
keeping my kids safe is my goal... until they are old enough to understand and reason on their own.
my mother gave me the tapes (that i gave her back in december) of combating mind control by steven hassan, saying that she didn't have a tape player... reminded me of three years ago when i gave her crisis of conscience by ray franz and she said it's to big book to read and she's not a reader.

I would NEVER allow a child of mine to spend unsupervised time with ANY JW, relative or not. Certainly no overnight visits.

Don't even THINK about having children with her until you have been MARRIED for 3-5 years. Better to just focus on the kids you already have. Why not suggest that neither of You participate in ANY religion for at least a year or two. That will get the religion issue out of the picture. Then you can see if you are compatible WITHOUT religion Interfering.

My advice is for you both the part ways for a year. You live your life and let her lead hers as a JW. Try making friends with people who aren't Witnesses. Then after a year apart, have a discussion with her about the year you spent apart. I think then you will both know the right thing to do. Just don't make any permanent decisions right now.

Change of mindset.
by thedog1 ini have been a witness for a long time and still serve as an elder.
there have been a lot of changes to deal with in the last six months or so since i stumbled on this site due to questions i had about all the recent changes in understanding published in the wt.
many posters here talk about a cult personality and a real personality.

I'm glad that you are opening your mind to new information and expanded perspectives. Sounds like you are now seeing the Watchtower for what it really is.....a very closed-minded cult like belief system. And very authoritarian as well.

Anthony Morris III's video is endorsed by a two year old.
by LogCon inhow sad is it that one of the only eight links, on earth, to the creator of the universe thinks an endorsement by one and two year olds is a sign that jehovah has blessed the sparlock video?.
exerpts from anthony morris explaining the new sparlock animated video as downloaded to youtube by cedars.
] and as it would end shed gesture,..again.

Same sex marriage legalised in the UK at midnight tonight!!!
by DuvanMuvan intitle pretty much explains it all.
lots of people are getting married at midnight tonight.. what do you guys think?
maybe if anyone gets called on by a jw this weekend you can ask them what they think about it.. im just glad because it shows that religion doesn't define our conscience, that basic human decency can prevail over time and hopefully, these types of gradual but big changes will be present in the wts too in the future .

If all males became celibate Catholic priests, and all females became celibate Catholic nuns, the human race would die out in about 100 years. So we'd better put a stop to Catholics!!! See, isn't that an absurd statement? Likewise, "everyone' isn't going to become gay. The human race isn't going to die out.

Another fun activity would be to count the times the speakers refer to gay people in a negative way. 'Tight pants', remember??

Try going to a Unitarian church and see if you like it. They are totally non-dogmatic and accept all people no matter what their religious views are...or lack thereof. You will hear many interesting talks on a wide variety of subjects. Nobody will pressure you to 'believe' in a certain way.
