If the Governing Body Told You They Love You All Very Much, What Would Your Reply Be?
by steve2 inin a letter in the 2013 yearbook of jehovah's witnesses, the governing body sign off with the words, "we love you all very much".
these words were later echoed by one of the governing body in an address to french jehovah's witnesses in july this year.
these words sound so marvellously compelling and heartfelt - goosebump inducing, even.. imagine the governing body wrote these words to you or expressed them to you in person- yes to you reading these very words.

The teaching (God will destroy the world) arose from a wrong notion of what EVIL is
by exWTslave inevil is opposite of live, means not really living, but wasting!
if you are in harmony with yourself, fellow-humans and nature (and god if you believe in such an entity), then you feel light, at ease, hence you can say you are really living.. on the contrary, if you are not in harmony with yourself, fellow-humans and nature (and god), then you feel burdened, at dis-ease, draining energy, hence you can say you are not really living, but wasting your lifesomething which the biblical word for evil really means.compare mathew 7:17 where the word evil is used to refer to bad fruit (of a literal tree).. hence one can say evil is half-real!
if you think evil exists or doesnt exist, both are right.

KM Oct 2014 - Homosexuality (week of Oct 13th)
by Splash init would be interesting to have some present (stonewall?

the reasoning book tells us in part:.

Given the CONSTANT anti-gay drumbeat from the Organization, there must be some higher-ups who are fighting and supressing their own same-sex attractions. To an emotionally and sexually secure straight person, gays aren't a big concern. It's only when a person has 'personal issues and insecurities' regarding their own sexuality that they obsessively concern themselves with 'hating' homosexuality. Tony The Turd comes to mind as one GB member who seems to really make a big bugaboo of gay people. Tony: Is there something you're not telling us?????

Shunning Among the Shunned
by Quendi ini wonder if anyone else has had this experience or know of others who have.
when i was disfellowshipped, i approached another disfellowshipped person after the memorial celebration and asked him over for some refreshments and conversation.
he turned down my invitation saying that the elders had told him that he could not even talk to other disfellowshipped persons unless and until both he and they were reinstated!

That DFed Witness who turned you down must be thinking about getting reinstated. If he is reinstated, he will definitely shun you if you are still DFed. HOPEFULLY you are not planning to go back to the JWs. The best approach is to forget about that 'friend', forget about ever getting reinstated, forget the Witnesses totally. Then find new non-JW friends and go on to lead a happy and normal life. Good luck to you!

After reading the various suggestions, I think the wisest ( & SAFEST ) approach is to see an attorney for a possibly FREE initial consultation. Explain the situation and let the attorney advise you as to which option to take. Maybe filing a noise complaint might work. I like the idea of the attorney writing a letter to the elders at the local Kingdom Hall. Whatever occurs, your FIRST priority is to look out for YOUR SAFETY and prevent any retaliation. The attorney can advise about this as well. Good luck!

No Common Sense (About Convention)
by EmptyInside inwell, the guilt trip worked in getting them to the international convention, even though, for some,it put their health at great risk.. i'm glad that an elderly relative showed some common sense and realized she couldn't make the convention.
but, people still treated her oddly about not going.. one of her friends, who had a stroke in the past, thought about not attending, only to get screamed at by her so-called friends.
she did go,but it was hard on her.

My former Bible Study conductor told me about a Witness who was in danger of being DFed because 'someone' saw him 'smoking a cigarette' in a restaurant. Upon investigation, it turned out the man who was seen 'smoking' was actually eating a cheesestick! That to me illustrates how JWs are slaves to 'how things APPEAR' rather than how things really are. How many Witnesses have been DFed because some busybody assumed they were doing something wrong. That's life in a totalitarian organization!

Is or were there Sin in Heaven??
by jam inwhere was satan when he sin???
if there was or is sin.
in heaven, why would the earth be any different.

Asking if there is 'sin in Heaven' is the intellectual equivalent of asking 'Do zebras have past lives?' Both questions cannot be answered. The first question presumes that there really IS a 'Heaven', and the second question presumes that there are 'past lives'. Even quoting the Bible presumes that the Bible is true and has all the answers.

Today's public talk: shameless indoctrination
by OneEyedJoe intoday's talk was really somethin'.
so much so that i felt compelled to post this during the wt study.... i didn't pay attention to the theme, but where i to title the talk it would be "logical fallacy, scripture out of context, and phobia indoctrination: a case study in cult indoctrination.".
that's certainly a more honest title than whatever they gave, i'm sure.. it starts out by saying that sometimes people are skeptical about things they're told, and feel compelled to look for evidence of the claims.

So-called religious folks have been preaching about the dangers of 'Pop music' for decades. First it was Elvis, then The Bestles, then Alice Cooper, and later Marilyn Manson. Of course, the world somehow does't end from the influence of these musicians. The same applied to R-rated films. Naturally the Witnesses are afraid of anything new and different that threatens their constipated world-view. That's why virtually all Witnesses tend to look and act the same. So it's no wonder that intelligent members are leaving the Watchtower cult in droves.

No Logic in the world!
by Pinku inpeople fight over little things because they look for logic in each others position.
it is like asking why this ocean drop of water is salty.
is the whole ocean not salty?

I don't agree that animals are 'inferior' to humans. It isn't animals that are ruining the Earth. I view humans as being a virus on the Earth. The sooner humans go extinct the happier lives animals will lead. Give me animals over humans any day! Sorry for the rant.....but it's what I believe.

Food For Thought
by Yondaime inandre gide its is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not.. the words of wisdom from the deceased french author echo through my mind every day, and they make me think, would the people in my congregation give me their unconditional love if i was not doing well in the congregation spiritually?.
spiritually as in giving well in the congregation, making nice comments, doing parts in the service meeting, reading during the book study on stage, working at the literature counter, and recently becoming a servant.. of the 20 or so young ones in the hall only me and 4 others are progressing spiritually.
ive seen the way brothers and sisters have treated those in the hall that arent progressing and dont take the truth seriously.

I totally agree with jgnat, by all means make an effort to re-establish your friendship with Scott. It may well be very awkward when you speak to him. Just apologize for breaking off contact, and express your admiration for him. Tell him your perspective on the Witnesses has radically changed since you last saw him. And if anyone in the Kingdom Hall gives you any guff about it, tell them to butt out...it's your personal business who you associate with. Just refuse to discuss it.
