JW CHILDREN GET PRESENTS ALL THROUGH THE YEAR. REALLY?????
by NAVYTOWN inis it really true that jw children get gifts 'all through the year', not just for christmas and birthdays like non- jw kids?
as stingy as most jws are, i find that very hard to believe.
plus the childhood magic of christmas and birthdays is totally absent in jw households.

I lived behind the Iron Curtain, so the choice of the toys were limitted. My parents were always generous as both had messed up childhood as result of WWII and they never experienced happines during these years. They tried to do opposite for us. But my grandparents (non of them were JW), never bought any gifts for anyone. They were the breed of the ending Victorian era, where parents treated their children as unpaid servant and never exchanged even single gift ever. They behaved the same way until their death. I had notices that JW were never really generous among themselves, they never invited anyone for lunch or dinner, nor were giving any gifts to children at all. I would say they were outright stingy. They also never visited anyone who was in hospital, or was dying or had provided support for family if anyone had died.

TheGreat Tribulation was in the 1st century
by maccauk11 in"then there will be a great tribulation, not seen since the beginning of time nor will everoccure again.
im saying, christ was talking about the comingdestruction of jerusalem in the 1st century and not the end of the world but the end of the jewish system of things.
there is no end of the world.

Not to mention what happened to Jerusalem in 135 AD after III Jewish War or after I. Crusade. Either way, the majority of the Jews in 1st century AD did not see any major sign or indication that the Messiah had arrived. Jews do not believe that Jesus was Messiah and they do not see any fullfilment of it to be related to destruction of the temple in 70AD. Additionally after 70AD, Jews were not thoroughly persecuted throughout the Roman Empire. But after 135 AD, they were not only forbidden to enter Jerusalem, but also their religion was outlawed and many of the Jewish inteligentsia that had no whatsoever relationship to the event of the III Jewish war was decimated by imperial decree. Also many Jews lost Roman citizenship privilege and were sold into slavery.

Disagree with that notion. 1st century AD was probably the most stable and prosperous era of the Roman Empire, which marked the begining of the Golden Age of the Imperial Rome and the Pax Romana. Roman Empire also had stable relationship with Persia, which was important for stability in Levant. Persia and Rome had not engaged in long war for almost 200 years. Some areas of Roman world had not seen war for next 500 years. Roman economy boomed, where taxes were about 2%, and interest rates were the lowest of the antiquity. There were several external conflicts like war in Britain, Judea uprising in 66-73, etc, but they were minor provinces of the empire. The core was not affected. Also majority of Jews lived outside Judea, in Roman and Persian empire, and were not affected by uprising during Jewish war. The biggest city of the Jews was no Jerusalem, but Alexandria. For Jews scattered througout the known world, the destruction of the temple was painfull, but did not affected their every day life.

The problem with 1914 teaching is that it was arbitrary picked year on misguided calculation and reconfirmed in 1920's after the Great War as the start of the Jesus's kingdom and beginning of his invisible presence. Aslo since that era, JW is teaching that entire human race had entered the end of the system which will be fullfilled by generation that witnessed the year 1914. However, 100 years later and almost two dozen individuals left around the world enough old to remember the 1914 (last person born before 1900 had died couple months ago), there is a clearly mismatch on what JW were preaching, and what had really happened with our world. Additionally, the invisible presence was conveniently invented as it was not fullfilling Revelation 1:7, or Mat 24:30,31. What JW has put there, is own belief of some obscure religous group in country that even was not major world player (that was UK), and completely unknow to majority human race in 1918.

Something unusual about virgin and Magi
by abiather injws view every verse of the bible as inspired.
this is nothing but following the blind guides of ancient times!
1) someone felt the need of projecting jesus being born through a virgin.

As I had remembered from 1980s here is the WT:July 1, 1985 Watchtower:
"Who do you think provided the star that moved in the sky to guide the astrologers? Remember, the star did not guide them directly to Jesus in Bethlehem. Rather, they were led to Jerusalem where they came in touch with King Herod, who wanted to kill Jesus. And he would have done so if God had not stepped in and warned the astrologers not to tell Herod. It was God's enemy, Satan the Devil, who wanted Jesus killed, and he used that star to try to accomplish this purpose."

To add WTWizard:
At least Santa Claus doesn't threaten children with imminent destruction if they do not join an organization and support it beyond their means. The worst that can happen if children are bad is that Santa will leave them coal in their stockings--hardly getting hit with 96 pound/45 kg chunks of ice or being swallowed by the earth.
or getting chashed by two hugry bears

Winnie, try to make your past experience into something positive. You learned a lot there, and try to use it to the best abilities. You have control over your own destiny.

I remember from my studies in KH that these three maggi were sent by Satan, who itself was the star of Bethelem.
