  My Mom is in the hospital

  my mother broke her hip last week.

  she had an emergency partial replacement surgery friday night.

  we don't know how she did it as we have caregivers with her at all times, she may have fallen while in the bathroom for a few minutes.

  I am in the same boat of caring for elderly parent with degenerative Neuro disease [Not Alzheimers]

  btw Often the hip breaks which causes the fall [Osteoporosis].

  I trust you have others who can assist you with support. Also the medical costs can be crippling - in our case Grandpa who passed in 2009 had no life insurance - why? Because when he wanted to take one out [45 years ago] he was told he was showing lack of faith - afterall the world was going to end in 1975 - so gran ended up in the Shit ! And by extension the children - we - now carry the financial can.

  JW vs Jehovah's Witnesses

  i tried to search for a similar topic but couldnt find one.. anyway, i am an active jw or is it jehovah's witness?.

  recently i noticed a trend, mainly found between teenagers and older techie brothers, of referring to themselves as jws.

  Sarcastically speaking...........[in jest with you of course] Yes it would appear that the more distance they can give to the name the better - hence this drive to market and brand "JW.ORG" on every occasion now.

  We were once counselled quite strongly that "JW" is not to be used ...it is slang...thats how the "world" refers to us etc etc

  I was initially quite averse to the whole media circus that arose. Having been involved in Legal studies I find the court proceedings quite interesting though. His defence at this stage has probably got the upper hand over the Prosecution and this is probably due to the Prosecution not having build up a good case.

  Defence is doing a helluva job at casting doubt and so everything is pretty much circumstantial -

  Cannot believe the hype it has generated though. Now if only all the other victims out there - and LB has enumerated how crap our justice / policing system is - could get this much attention in court things would be a lot different.

  Baptisms only at regional ( district ) assemblies from 2014 / 15 service year?

  just a rumour but i guess it makes sense - i've a friend on a circuit committee ( he knows it's not "the truth" but for family & work reasons he stays in ) & he says that the wtbts have told them not to book a swimming pool for next years one day assemblies as the plan is to have only one baptism a year at the main regional ( what they used to call "district" ) convention.. with the drop off in baptisms so that sometimes there isn't anyone baptised or just a handful , i guess this is inevitable.

  i remember going to a baptism a few years ago - we had hired a municipal 25 metre swimming pool and only one person ( a rather confused and scared middle aged lady who hadn't been in a swimming pool since her youth ) was being baptised - it was all something of a farce with the "worldly" staff looking on very puzzled at such an elaborate & expensive ceremony for one person.

  ) also with both assemblies being one day with just short morning & afternoon sessions , i suppose it is sensible to ditch the baptism talk - it tends to be something of a snoozefest anyway at the end of the morning session.

  Of course if Baptism is such a requirement for a ticket on the Ark of Salvation you could get some folk getting quite panicky that they havent been dipped and the end is "just around the corner" / imminent / upon us/ near / etc etc

  Most candidates I did questions with never had a handle on:

  1 What is the Kingdom

  2 Who are the GB / FDS [This was up to 3 years ago]

  3] Who are the anointed

  and as you mentioned What is Dedication what must I do for it / how etc etc

  The 3rd set of Questions with my daughter [I declined to do the questions ] took 3.5 hours ! I asked her why she had so much to say and of course it was because the Bro spent most of the time gassing on about ................nothing !

  could someone explain where it is written that mservants should be doing the congregation average/10 hours minimum?.

  When sitting in the CO meeting with Elders the average was often pitched at the congregations average or national average which could be 14 hours or more. Your spiritual character ie ability to show love to others. care for elderly, assisting single parent families etc never came into the reckoning when considering appointments. Also once you on the body - if you average dropped to say 9 hours - now problem - you were not on board. At all times the bodies entire average hours was never better than the congregations [mainly female Pubs] average.

  Lovinng it mate ! Playing Aussies is always going to be a cracker ! Aus Batsmen were holding up well to ferocious bowling attack [body blows] but with the Steyn Remover injured its going to be a battle for Proteas.

  I am from the match city but I wont be watching live - tickets were sold out.

  i'm looking forward to next week.

  even though, i'm enrolled this semester as an external student, (just to make it easier to go to china during the semester), i'm allowed to attend on-campus lectures and tutorials.. i've just downloaded the unit guides and everything fits in well with my planned china visit, this unit is at 200 level, so its an easier assignment load (just 3500 words in two asssignments) and both due before my planned dates to visit china.

  and the exam will be at least two weeks after i get back.. oh!

  If the Big-A is so close why not hang around and take over a whole load of buildings from the leftovers. Eg the white house [dats resoived for Toni da Toid ] or Capitol Hill or the Pentagon etc
