  Returning 20 years of JW books to KH need opinions

  my mom and i have been cleaning out the basement and gathered over 20 years worth of jw books, magazines, tracts (some dating from the 1950's!).

  we are playing with the idea to return the jw material in a box, with the words "we quit" and a xeroxed copy of the cover coc next sunday morning in front of the local kh.

  does anyone have any better/more sarcastic ideas?

  my mom and i have been cleaning out the basement and gathered over 20 years worth of jw books, magazines, tracts (some dating from the 1950's!).

  we are playing with the idea to return the jw material in a box, with the words "we quit" and a xeroxed copy of the cover coc next sunday morning in front of the local kh.

  does anyone have any better/more sarcastic ideas?

  I would just give them the bound volumes w/ your notes & duplicates, but keep the older ones.....

  i keep hearing rumors that there are locations throughout the country where the witnesses have their own schools, kinda like parochial school.

  has anyone else heard this?

  Yeah I went to Homeschool, & my younger friends did too but they went to a different one than me that was run by Witnesses. It's been going on for years so that they can make you Pioneer & keep you away from the worldly kids.. Sucks! I wish I could have graduated from a public school & could have gone to the prom like a normal teenager/ F--- all of them for taking our childhoods away without our consent! Christine

  I have about 50 song books (no lie). I used to forget mine every meeting & borrow one out of the library & take them home- I pretty much still have all of my books, but they are in storage collecting dust. I found the 1997 Watchtower cd rom today, because wanted to do some research to some answers on this site, but unfortunately it won't run on my MAC. I have like 4 or 5 reasoning books, & an old territory card I stole from the KH. All of the bound Watchtowers I threw away because the CD rom replaced it. I still have the Pioneer book too somewhere- Maybe Ebay is a good idea, or I could sell some to researchers or something/ who knows/ Anyway, some of those books are some of my great grandmothers with all kinds of notes in the margins- Kristine

  Mostly 80's- but here's some that I prefer: REM, Pink Floyd, System of a Down, Metallica, No Doubt, Beck, Sublime, Jimmy Buffet, Aerosmith (love his tongue), Dave Matthews Band, Eagles, Bob Marley, Madonna (still love her sexuality), Eric Clapton, Enya, Sade, & more......Kristine

  "New light" on Independant thinking?

  i've just been reading an article on the jwmedia site about a study into wt literature that has been ordered by a russian court.. http://www.jw-media.org/newsroom/index.htm?content=/region/europe/russia/english/releases/religious_freedom/rus_e030523.htm.

  it goes into the usual wt waffle about the persecution and harrassment of jws, religious freedom etc, but the following quote caught my eye:the study also revealed a much higher level of education among jehovah's witnesses (when compared with that of the average muscovite), which tends toward independent rational thinking and decision-making.

  now, this would give joe public that the average jw is therefore able to think for himself, and reach his own conclusions independantly.

  Educated my ass! That's why most Pioneers are supported by their parents or are on Welfare, because they cannot get a decent job. If you started Pioneering like me @ the age of 16-20 (went to homeschool), then you mostly missed out on a higher education early in life. The Watchtower & Awake say the same shit over & over, so that basically it's worded a little differently the next year so it drills it in your head.. I could see how someone can become an expert because they update their memory bank over & over again on the same crap! Oh, & those who have gone to Bethel, usually have trouble getting a job after leaving.

  Ozzygal, Why are you feeling guilty? Are you still a JW? If you keep coming here & feel guilty, that should send you a message that you totally don't beleive all of the JW's propaganda, or you are still under their mind grip. Hope you will find some good info here, & keep coming back- Kristine
