I've had a few CO and DO"s over the years stay for meals etc when I was in ,some ok some bad and rude but I always had a chuckle to myself when they were coming around and the elders would be almost pleading for anyone to take them in ,especially if they were carrying a reputation.

Tech49 has the CO over for lunch
by Tech49 inso awhile back, during our last circuit overseer visit, vic and i decided to bite the bullet.... there seemed to be very little support for the mid-week lunch plans for the co and his wife, so we signed up to host.
we definitely didnt want it to be awkward, so we invited a few others along, as a nice little group affair.
they were excited, and offered to do the cooking, so i said i would play along.. just some background.... this particular co is kind of a tool (big surprise right?

Marriage Consummation - emailed question has me stumped
by jwfacts ini received an email from a jw that got married, but the wife never had sex with him.
they were together for a period of years.
he told the elders, but they said there was nothing that could be done.

How about this then.....brother in law is married with one young child .sleeps repeatedly with wifes sister who is only 13 and gets pregnant . His wife is devastated and it is reported to the elders and eventually is Df'd .and in time and in confusion of her loyalty to keep quiet for the sake of Jehovahs name she has sex again shortly after finding out what her husband did. She later talks to elders saying she has trouble staying with her husband but they tell her it's too late she has had sex with him so he is forgiven.
So the society uses sex as a marking of whether a relationship must stay together .why can't it be used as an indicator to a failed relationship when there is none and therefore annul it ?

I don't have to feel bad about taking an interest in others ,visiting them ,helping them and have to take my tie off to do such things so the elders can't accuse me of usurping their headship (because they don't give a shit for others)
I don't have to see and listen to another case of child molestation in the congregations
I don't have to watch the successful business elders parade their mock humility and yet roll up at the KH with the latest expensive Lexus
I don't have to watch absolute dicks grovell for "priveleges " and promotions
And yet I miss the genuine friends I had there ,sad really only wish I could wave a wand to open their eyes

FEWER NEW ZEALAND CITIZENS AFFILIATED WITH JWS IN 2013 THAN IN 1996: SUCCESSIVE YEARS OF DECREASE
by steve2 infewer new zealand citizens affiliated as jws in 2013 than in 1996: over 15 years of successive decreases.
the first table shows the new zealand census from 1976 to 2013. typically, numbers of citizens affiliated with the witnesses are higher than the number of active publishers because it includes children and those who are affiliated with the witnesses but who may not be active publishers.. of note, more citizens were recorded as affiliated with the witnesses in 1996 (19,527) than in 2013 (17,931).
the decline in numbers affiliating with the witnesses in new zealand started in 2001 and has continued across two further census reports - so this is not just a temporary blip.

Appointed by holy spirit
by Ben57 ini have been reading the posts on who is and or had been an elder.

Ben I also think you are wrong on this basis (not using the bible at all )-
I had a book study conductor who had been an elder for about 14 years at the time , then suddenly we were informed we were getting another elder to take over the group. The reason came out a little later when it was announced from the KH platform that he was reproved and not an elder anymore. I spoke to that elder and he admitted to me he had had a sexual relationship with his wifes best freind who was a sister and had to confess to it but only after the sister had come forward to her body of elders admitting it first.
The key problem here is that he had been appointed as an elder after he had committed adultery and kept it a secret for about 15 years from the congo and his wife ! The WT does say that elders are appointed by holy spirit so did the holy spirit get it wrong or maybe Jesus or God ,can't have been the GB can it ?

What is your weirdest field service experience ?
by cookiemaster inmine just popped in my head and i just had to share it.
a few years ago i went with a special pioneer(and elder) at one of his studies who was a cow herder in the mountains.
obviously, even though we were going to the middle of nowhere, where no one lived, we just had to go all dressed up in nice suits and all.

While working the Esplanade with a young sister at a beach side suburb we knocked on the door of a holiday home ,when from the property next door a man with crazy eyes and working overalls on came running toward us .
He pulled out a large wooden cross with JC on it and yelled at us we 'were the seed of Satan ' and to get off the property ,I kindly pointed out that he did'nt live here and he had no right to throw us off ,which infuriated him even more .
The poor girl was terrified as he was making threatening gestures with the cross and screaming by this time so we left - that was a close one
Ah the joys of pioneering

Crazy JW urban legend
by Simon ina sure guarantee that this was bogus (really, any reasoning is required at all?
) was that it did the rounds applied to john denver, annie lennox and others.. basically, they relied on satan (oh yes) for their musical ability (i knew it) and any jws in the audience would be asked to leave because ... (drum roll) ... they blocked the signal to satan so couldn't perform with them present!.
anyone else remember that gem?.

That's right John Denver tragically died ...oh well Satan must have needed another angel in hell.

Do you look like the apostate they warned you about?
by Angus Beef inafter waking up and wanting to get out of this nightmare, the word apostate is really bothering me.
if i quitely become inactive, fade away will i just be looked at as "always weak".
i want to scream out how big a fool i was.. and now telling my poor young daughter how wrong i was to bring her up as a jw.
-

The word apostate is used by JW's like people who go into a rant at someone with abusive labels trying to manipulate them and gaining power over them.
Just don't give into it ,be content with what you now believe
