According to Oct.1st 2012 WT Directions- Past Child Molesters CAN Be Appointed Elders
by flipper inconsidering the fact that the wt society refuses to release in courts any of it's written directions to elders through confidential letters to elder bodies- i thought i'd do the courts and wt society a "favor " by posting excerpts from this oct 1st.
2012 letter from the wt society to all bodies of elders.
these instructions are very exposing of the negligence of wt authorities in how they view the seriousness of felony child abuse.

This Year's Memorial
by TD inperhaps i'm just getting older and crankier, but it really seems to me that the jw faith is deteriorating at an accelerated rate.. case in point: this year's memorial talk.
it was one of the most incoherent messes i've ever heard.
(and i've heard a lot of memorial talks over the last 50 years....).

A brother passing the "bread" dropped a piece. I whispered to my seat mate "don't look now, but there's Jesus' leg on the floor." A few minutes later he picked it up. We had 150, down 20 from last year. -

Removal of Tetragrammaton from Early Greek Manuscripts
by jhine ina while ago i posted on another thread that i had been told by some witnesses that the tetragrammaton had been in the original christian greek scriptures but had been removed when apostacy came into the church .
i did not know where this came from at the time .however while looking something else up i came across this .as i could not find the original thread i have started a new one .here is a quote from nwt reference edition 1984 :-.
" matthew made more than a hundred quotations from the inspired hebrew scriptures.

A guy dies, goes to heaven, greeted by St. Peter, who gives him a tour. They come to a large room filled with people. "Who are those people?" "Those are our baptists." They come to another large room filled with people. "These are our catholics," St. Peter explains. Then they come to a room where the door is shut. "Who's in that room?" the guy asks. "Well, we keep the door shut on this room. It's the JW's and they think they're the only ones here."

Poster country flags and privacy
by Simon inthe new forum originally had a little country flag next to each post showing the country that the post was made from based on the geoip encoding (the country the ip address is from).
before i switched over to the new site someone made an issue about it violating their privacy and i didn't want to complicate and confuse the switchover with policy debate at the same time as technical issues so removed the flags even though i disagreed.. someone has already requested it as a feature and i think it should be added back so i thought it's now time to open the discussion and get everyone's opinions.
first, the reason i think it should be shown:.

Here's a thought. Make the final decision encumbent on the results of a vote. A democratic process we were denied as JW's.
It doesn't matter to me if my country flag were displayed. I come from a mega country. But my vote would be no, based on other's concerns. That's how a democracy works. We make decisions based not solely on our own concerns but rather on what we perceive is for the greater good of the whole, weighing risks and benefits. I personally don't think the latter outweighs the former in this issue.
To the polls!

I heard from an elder in my cong who knows missionaries in Sierre Leone who report that "14 or 15" have died. that was last week. also heard from another source that there have been deaths in Liberia. I have no way to substantiate either report. So don't ask me for them ! Think we will see a report on jw.org ?!?!?

How about Ex 20:26, where God tries to cop a look at your "private parts." either wear your tidy whities or take the elevator up to the alter.

WT admitted "Jehovah" is not God's name...
by Watkins inif i remember right(unlikely, lol) it was a one-page article about the tetragrammaton which concluded by saying that even though "jehovah" was 'probably' not an accurate pronunciation, it is a widely-recognized and accepted english transliteration of the divine name.
i was thinking it was on the last page or maybe the back cover of a wt pub - maybe a watchtower.. can someone please direct me to the publication it was in?
i read it when i was still 'in' and it made me stop and think about how much emphasis the wt puts on that name, all while knowing it's not the name.

ADCMS: exactly my conclusion and one reason I began to doubt. why was God,s name not preserved SOMEWHERE ? And, Why was the name not recorded in Greek/greek scriptures? How did Jesus and early Christians pronounce it and why did the writers not include it ? Why would they b observing an ancient false jewish superstition ?
