Hey everyone,
Been trying to cut back on the amount I spend surfing.
Is there a newsletter or site that gives the "most important" updates on JW land, instead of me having to browse this wonderful site often?
Thanks!

jehovah's witnesses to hand over top-secret manualon friday finland's jehovah's witnesses will give their religious rule book to the minister of justice and the minister of the interior so that it can be inspected to ensure that it's in line with finnish rule of law.
jehovah's witnesses will hand over their secret rule book to the minister of justice, anna-maja henriksson, and the minister of the interior, paivi rasanen.
image: heikki saukkomaa / lehtikuva until now, only senior members of the jehovahs witnesses committee have had access to the congregation's secret book of rules.. the disciplinary activities of the jehovah's witnesses committee have been criticised for violating human rights.. according to anna-maja henriksson, finland's minister of justice, the purpose of the handover is to examine the book and determine whether its rules and regulations run counter to finnish law.. henriksson and interior minister paivi rasanen met on thursday with the leadership of the jehovah's witnesses in helsinki.
I don't really understand why Finland is doing this. I don't agree with many JW doctrines. However, I believe that a group of people should be able to excommunicate whoever they want from their group. This is called freedom of religion. It sucks, I know. But I would rather have my own personal freedom and allow JWs to continue shunning. I don't really understand the need for governments to manage shunning. Its called personal responsibility. If a JW parents wants to shun their child, well that sucks! But, shame on them. Its their responsibility and they will have to answer to the creator.
However, if Finland is worried about child abuse cases being dealt with in the congregation and not reported to them, that is a different story and completely legitimate.
And also, Finland screwed their sovereignty when they signed into the EU. Even if they acted against the JWs, the JWs could appeal the the EU high court.

so, i have some free time on my hands and decided to volunteer for a hospice company that is fairly large and well known.. anyway, i visit people that have a relatively short time to live and it is very fulfilling.
however, the company that i am going through is for-profit.
i knew this when i signed up, but i don't care because its all about the hospice patients for me.. so, i get this email:.
@ripvanwinkle:
non-profits can be just as bad. example: WT

Hi y'all,
So, I have some free time on my hands and decided to volunteer for a hospice company that is fairly large and well known.
Anyway, I visit people that have a relatively short time to live and it is very fulfilling. However, the company that I am going through is for-profit. I knew this when I signed up, but I don't care because its all about the hospice patients for me.
So, I get this email:
I’ve selected just a handful of you to email about this. We are changing our branding and so the paperwork is set to change as well. We could use two or three volunteers to help restock our paperwork that the nurses use. Is anyone available around 2pm tomorrow? I’m thinking an hour and a half to two hours.
END
So, I'm thinking to myself...seriously? A for-profit company wants my unpaid help to work in the office? Anyone else think this is weird. I mean, on their website it has an 'investors' section.

I was able to download it with a little bit of waiting.
Yeah the letter looks legit. Looks like they are using the GB as the letterhead, probably because of legal reasons.
I doubt its fake, but maybe more Elders can vouch it is real.
put yourself in the org's position - distasteful as that is - and come up with a solution to solve the problems of not only recovering their stock market losses, but also, ensuring an increase in their dwindling revenue stream.. the major problem is, donations are voluntary (with no future guarantees) whereas pledges are compulsory - in the heart and mind of the giver!.
however, far too many will probably forget/refuse to keep up their monthly tax - with no way of knowing who is 'paying the man', and who is not.
master stroke - make plan a 100% certainty to fail in the first year, based on the 'anonymity' of the setup.
I remember when I woke up.
A couple months before I did, they had a census for what donations for the new KH we would give. I'm well off and before waking up had put on the census something like 1,000 bucks.
But, when I woke up and was cornered by the Elders for a letter I wrote the WT, I decided to stop all donations (wansn't mad, just felt that the whole lotta money I donated so far should be good enough.
Anyway, a few weeks later, an Elder that cornered me gave an announcement from the platform that we should all try and pay what we promised.
LOL! Come and take it if you want it, come and take it if you can, come and take it but I'll warn ya...you'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands!
ever since reading about dmt and hearing people discuss it, my new post-jw open mind wants to experience it.
anyone here tried it or feels the same?.

I have an ex jw friend that went down to S america and tried the real stuff made by locals. he regrets it because he followed the advice the spirits told him and his living situation got screwed up.
meh...go volunteer.
