We are not trees
by Rip ingot a stengthening committee coming in yesterday and i lashed down the bomb.. honestly, without fear i pointed out all contradictons with reference to the july 15 watchtower,.
the first article about sheep and goats, killing the year 1914 (that was a good move) and then ressussitating it in the next article about wheat and weeds( i said this is an irresponsible writing) and attempting to re emphasize it in the rest of the following article.
outrageous, dishonest and irresponsible.

Got a stengthening committee coming in yesterday and I lashed down the bomb.
Honestly, without fear I pointed out all contradictons with reference to the July 15 watchtower,
The first article about sheep and goats, killing the year 1914 (that was a good move) and then ressussitating it in the next article about wheat and weeds( I said this is an irresponsible writing) and attempting to re emphasize it in the rest of the following article. Outrageous, dishonest and irresponsible. If they consider the readers they should check coherence in their writing.I said whoever writes this should remember
The two articles were totally contradictory. As both were talking about Jesus parables on the same topic of separation of good from evil, it is not fair to say this one started 1914 the other one didn't.
A lot of doctrinal matter was pounded. Their argument was It came from the FDS and I said Whoever claims to be the FDS is not the Bible nor Jesus and beside it is a responsibility of each and everyone in an office of trust to be faithful and discreet but not his responsibility to brag about it. Only Jesus is he who has the last word and a judge. I requested them to read some verses about it in the Bible, they refused.
The committee stayed dumb and I could see their lack of argument. They told me to write it down and the will submit it to the headquarters. Do you think it is of any help to write? My next possibile step is to shun them and their meetings but my wife is not happy with it.

Epistemology. I Wonder 2...
by braincleaned inwhat is the value of our knowledge?.
i respect all beliefs for what they are.
but many of us are being treated condescendingly by those who have more certainty than we atheists do.

Tec, thank you for your industrial argumentation with Braincleaned. I was off since, and i see you are meeting some commonground all together. i wish to put it simple on :"how you know that you know": that is by the time we can't ask more questions. otherwise we are still in a quest.and sometimes the answer to the our last question is we can't know [humility]. By that time if we see it fitting our interests we Just believe. we don't know that God exists, we believe he exists. and belief in God is a stonger degree of knowledge, I wish braincleaned can have it since he can't get answers to his last questions about things, numerous things. Braincleaned, you are one step ahead to believing!.

Sheep and Goats
by ctrwtf ini'm lucky enough to live in a part of the us that many would call "pastoral.
" true to the label, i pass a small farm on the way to talking my daughter to school each day.
the other day i notice the owners had their small flock of sheep out to pasture along witha black goat.. for some reason i had a flashback to all the references the society uses re sheep, other sheep, sheeplike and goatlike etc.
-
Rip
The society is misusing Jesus's metaphors and parables when it takes the respo of deciding who is goat and who is sheep and when it is done.Simply this responsability is for JEsus. The time is the end day. There no hidden reading or prophecies attached to Jesus's parables, he was simply a keen obsever and gave pedagogical lesson in conclusion, to take as they are. Otherwise you go beyond what is written.

I wonder...
by braincleaned ini wonder about why so many of us stick to the "truth" within the frame of the jehovah's witness religion.. of course, the wts has authority over our minds thru the control of information, demonizing any "worldly" knowledge that might jeopardize our faith in this entity.. thru my own experience, i understand how we can stick to this organization; because of a life's investment in serving, and the close ties of family and peers we do not wish to abandon or upset.
so we are here on sites like these, to understand the mechanisms of the cult... to try to make sense of why we should stay, or why we should leave.. the consequences are too important to take this lightly, or too swiftly.. if i may share a bit of my journey, i did not have to worry too much about the cult at first, because my main battle was based deeper than that.
after all, the root of any christian religion is in the bible itself; faith in jehovah and christ; trust in the idea that the bible is inspired by god himself.. so yes, my quest went to the base, the root of the jw faith... the bible.. since childhood, the character of jehovah was a problem for me.

OK, Braincleaned. Hope you are not taking it as an attack. you bring a good point that 'God might not be the author of his own existance' and you can't assert 100% because that is where our reason lacks something and we simply do not know. May be he is, may be he is not. And simply if he is the author of his own existance, this is what makes him God vs. Humans who can't be author of their own existance. And I think this tends to be the most correct thinking because the Bible says he is the Alpha and Omega. My stand point is that God to be HIM, he must be the first cause of himself and then the cause of everithing.
About Evolution, I believe that it helped to achieve creation and that its laws were designed by an ingenious person (Jehovah). Its been a tool for him to attain diversity of species we have now. Don't believe in Darwin's fallacies of the Homos.....till Homo Sapiens, I think its purely hypothetical, took my time to examine it.
About Blaise Pascal, I personally liked his reasoning and his way of bringing all his interests int the spotlight while evaluating a situation; i was thinking in terms of interests without taking into account that Jehovah needs my service, he is all powerful and can do the job even when none seems to cooperate. Don't think we are of any service to him when it comes to accomplishing his purpose. So his basis of judgement is not my service, but my willingness to be used, just in case. He can use even stones (said Jesus). and Eph 2:8, 9 Salvation is a gift by faith not a reward by deeds.
Talk to you later
