Does John 6:52-58 state that not only the anointed can partake?
by MrsR-Awaken inso i read a comment on youtube of someone stating that john 6:53-58 woke him up.
the nwt says .
so jesus said to them: “most truly i say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in yourselves.+54 whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life, and i will resurrect+ him on the last day;55 for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink.56 whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood remains in union with me, and i in union with him.+ 57 just as the living father sent me and i live because of the father, so also the one who feeds on me will live because of me.+ 58 this is the bread that came down from heaven.

Lurkers: Is it true that no servant of Jehovah in the bible celebrated birthdays?
by juandefiero indid you know that job's family celebrated birthdays?
the word translated "his own day" at job 1:4 is the same word translated "day of his birth" in job 3:1. .
seems deceptive, does it not, to change that translation.

John's birth was met with rejoicing Luke 1:58
Issac/Abraham Genesis 21:8. It was custom for children to be weened on their 3rd birthday, and Abraham provided a great feast on that day. Please research this for yourself as far as weening goes.
There are more, but the real question is what is the WT reasoning on not celebrating birthdays? Wasn't it because Herod had John the Baptist beheaded and Pharaoh had the baker killed. So someone died and that is the reason no? Well then afternoon naps should be held in the same regard. No good JW woman should be giving their child a nap in the afternoon!!!!! 2 Samuel 4:5-7

The mistranslation of John 14.10
by Wonderment indarby bible translation says the following at john 14.10 (brackets his): .
"believest thou not that i [am] in the father, and that the father is in me?
the words which i speak to you i do not speak from myself; but the father who abides in me, he does the works.".

"Jesus started one church that the apostles propagated. What were they teaching? That Jesus came for 144k? That only they had the heavenly hope? That part is a new testament."
Good point. What did Jesus say to them? Well, on the premise of belief in the Bible as the Word of God, inspired by God, we have to accept what the disciples wrote. So with this in mind, the corrections made by Paul to the different churches around and the descriptions throughout the NT, we ARE told what Jesus said to the disciples. Maybe not everything, but what God wanted us to know.
All the rest: "That Jesus came for 144k? That only they had the heavenly hope?.....etc" are completely made up by man.

The mistranslation of John 8.58
by Wonderment injohn 8.58 is one of those scriptures which translators often mis-translate.. i am aware this text is defended with passion either way by its advocates.
many insist the "i am" rendering found in many versions is correct.
others defend the "i have been" or "i was" readings of other versions.

Have you considered this same thing in John 6:20? The direct translation of Jesus statement is " I AM no be fearing"

J.W. Women Should Stop Wearing Mascara!
by The Searcher inthe wtbts/ org dictates to its subservient followers what constitutes a bible truth/principle and what does not.
example: it-1 p. 319 birthday - ".....there is no indication in the scriptures that faithful worshipers of jehovah ever indulged in the pagan practice of annually celebrating birthdays.
the bible makes direct reference to only two birthday celebrations, those of pharaoh of egypt and herod antipas.

No more afternoon naps!!! This is strictly forbidden. There was an afternoon nap recorded in the Bible and someone was beheaded. A good JW woman would never let her baby sleep during the day.
2 Samuel 4:5-7 "5 So the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, departed and came to the house of Ish-bosheth in the heat of the day while he was taking his midday rest. 6They came to the middle of the house as if to get wheat, and they struck him in the belly; and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped. 7 Now when they came into the house, as he was lying on his bed in his bedroom, they struck him and killed him and beheaded him. And they took his head and traveled by way of the Arabah all night."

What exactly is this? Is there another option?
" I would like to hop on one foot please?"

"It is noteworthy that when writers of the Christian Greek Scriptures quoted from the Hebrew Scriptures, they usually did so from the Septuagint"
Is this a factual statement? or is this one of the "obviously, or evidently's"
All this WT article states is that the Septuagint is the faulty text not the Hebrew scriptures. It is the reliance on the Septuagint that is the fault. My understanding was not that the Septuagint was written for its upstanding translation of the Hebrew scriptures, but rather for the Greek readers to be able to read the Hebrew scriptures.

EXACTLY Why JW's Are NOT Christian
by Perry ina lot of people, ex-jws, believers and unbelievers alike, think that jw's are just a somewhat kooky brand of christianity.
is it possible to "try and follow jesus" and not be christian?
what exactly makes someone a christian?

It was a Pharisee named Gamaliel, who was a teacher of the Law. It was said because the theory was that if it were true it would continue, if it were not true it would fizzle out.
At what point does it become true or not? That is the real question. If it dies out after 200 years, was it true? Ever? For the movement to be true it must not fizzle out, not in 5 years, not in 1000 years, but forever remain.
