your right heathen.
ultimatly it should be left up to us after we have the facts.
unfortunatly the police do have do get a quota in somtimes. but that is just there job. they have to "harass" us with law but also protect us with it. good luck amigo
just wondering how many people here feel that the seat belt law is mandatory for safe motoring.
i can't stand this law myself as if you only forget to put one on the police are happy to pull you over and detain you and write you a ticket.
this is one of those things that i think if there were a public vote over, it would not exist .

My Thoughts:
Iam a firemedic, unfortunatly I go to to "accidents" everyday, atleast a small handfull of fatalities a week. It should come as no suprise those that are killied in crashes mostly were not wearing seatbelts.
and it is a sad sad thing when we go to an accident, and see that someones mommy or daddy or son or daughter ect... has been violenlty ravaged by twisted metal, and have put themselves in a position to taste death by there own ideals that seatbelt laws are impeding on their rights. what about the rights of the loved ones left behind? waiting for their family to arrive back from work safe...... waiting for them to come home after a night on the town?......... what about the small kids who survive terrible accidents thanks to car seats.only to have there mom killed because she felt to constricted to wear a seatbelt? dont they have a right to have there mom or dad with them as they gow up in life?
i think a very good comment was made on this topic, the laws are meant to protect us from ourselves.
i myself find it very uncomfortable to feel that stiff nylon pressing against my collor bone.but, i know that if i get into an accident my chances of coming home to my wife or seeing my friends,or getting encouragment from all the people on this board are much greater..if iam wearing a seatbelt.
good luck(can i say that) be safe
if the watchtower changed it's blood doctrine to one where publishers could do what their conscience dictated without fear of reprisals from the brothers, if they also quit using the two witness rule and said all criminal accusations must be reported to the police, if they stopped shunning, if they said all df and da'd could associate with their friends and family, if they apologized to ray franz and all others who were hurt by their policies; would exjws respect their dogma and refrain from putting down their religious beliefs to their faces?.
this is an important question, more important than you know.
iw
I would have to question there motive. Is this another strategic decision to get the numbers back up,so they may boast on how Jehovah has blessed them with such an increase in "publishers".
I think that would be the more likely scenario, not apologizing out of love.
for example the annoucment at the last km school about "inactive" elderly and infirm being able to count field service time in 15 minute increments. surely that "provision" as explained, allowed many to report time, and thus, giving the illusion of the great influx flocking to the one true religeon.
our niece, irene, who posts here as inky, sent me an email.
her 27 year old son is getting married in two weeks, and she posted a few days ago about how he didn't invite her to his wedding.. she told me i can post it as she doesn't want to read it again.. "dear mom.
i've needed to write this letter to you for some time now.
My thought are in the words of each of YOUR friends HERE Inky. my heart truley cries over your experiance. We are all with you.---------------- j.p
i was looking at my "copy" of the pay attention to yourselves book and noticed the following: .
normally, a close relative would not be disfellowshipped.
for associating with a disfellowshipped person unless there.
why is the book different than the magazine.
look to see the year of publication in the book compared to recent wts. what i mean is.........
remember. The watchtower publication is the prime way of letting one know how to conduct themselves. so the current watchtower would explain the changes one would have to make as it comes from Jehovah releasing his new light on all matters.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, snore snore zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
that was the response i had to give from the plateform, when people were addressing those types of questions to the society.
i'm curious about this, because it was fairly apparent that some newly baptized people didn't have a good grasp of a lot of the doctrinal points of jws.
mind you, doctrinal points vascillate quite a lot, so that's no surprise really, but you would think that the basics would be covered prior to allowing people to get baptized, wouldn't you?.
for instance, my brother-in-law's girlfriend didn't understand the ramifications of the blood doctrine when she got baptized (they wanted to get married in the kh, and unless she was baptized they wouldn't be allowed to do so).
(sorry about the split)
2 experiences are. my wife before she was baptised had trouble making a reply on a few questions.
the "brothers" overseeing this just gave here some paragraphs from the society writings to help answer.they asked her how she would respond after reading the words in the paragraph, and just left it at that. kinda letting her take it at face value.
the 2nd experiance: my father studied for 4 years. he finally gave up trying to please them. interesting note: my father went through the questions for baptism 8-9 different occasions. my father was not able to answer the questions because he has a hard time reasoning, remembering, comprehending. he has had 3 strokes. my father would try to prepare for the questions because he wanted to dedicate his life and live forevere, he prepared by studying 8 hours a day, everyday. just to try to remember about 5 questions and answers at a time.no exagerration.
it was very painful to see how they treated him. no matter how hard he tried, a man with mountanous disabilities was never good enough. he got so depressed and tried to kill himself, thinking that God could not love him, because he could not live up to there legalistic ways of doing things. no, God could not look over his learning disability. now he takes his life day by day it has only been 6 mos since he has been to the hall. amazingly his depression is gone. and un fortunatly there is no words i can express. that would tell just how frustrating that time was.

interesting you mention about the questions. i have 2 experiences with that.
ever wonder about those people who spend $2.00.
apiece on those little bottles of evian water?
try spelling evian backwards: naive.
Thank you i needed a good laugh
.
if you were to live eternally on earth, what little things of life would you never get tired of?.
The sound of the ocean, hitting the beach. experiencing "death by chocolate" cake everyday, or at least everyother day.(its a laxative you know)
