I'm much happier, therefore more fun to be around. I'm a better person, more forgiving and accepting. I'm healthier, much, much, healthier. I live in the present, don't put off good things for some future fantasy.

Secret Santa Wish List 2009
by Lady Lee infor those of you who signed up for the secret santa 2009 list here is where you give your secret santa an idea of things you might like.
it's hard enough to give gifts to people you know nevermind people you have never met.. so bearing in mind the $15 limit give us an idea what your favorite interests, colors are, or what things you might like.. in the past people have suggested something for their new christmas tree, a book, a cd of their favorite music, something from where their secret santa lives (something with the city's or country's name on it or an widely known item.. once people get their name they will be able to check back here to get an idea of what your interest is before they go shopping.. if you say "anything" or don't post then expect a surprise..

I'd like a gift to a charity in my name, too. Second Harvest, or Avalon Housing in Ann arbor MI. The latter made my life so much easier when newly out of the org and an abusive marriage. I know Avalon does good work.
If you prefer to send things, I like UNscented candles, jams, dark chocolate, a christmas ornament or cd or a surprise.
NOTE to Nos; no WT lit if you get my name, thank you very much!

Blood questions and new law in Canada news
by cognac inmy understanding is that if a child needs a blood transfusion and the parent refuses, the child becomes a ward of the state.
however, once the child gets the transfusion, do the parents just get the kid back?
does dss get involved?
-
Emma
I doubt the kids are physically taken away. The order for transfusion would be carried out despite the parent's objections. It happens here in the states regularly. I suppose if the court had reason to believe that the parents would run away with the child it would be a different matter. I've known of two cases personally, one with a five year-old where the room was monitored, and the other where it was a young teen and the transfusions were administered; I think the parents acknowledged the courts decision.

I'm from the lower part of the state. I don't recognize the name you posted. The entire state is in a bad economic situation like many parts of the country.
What congregation were you in?

I swear to tell the whole truth...
by Lillith26 in... and nothing but the truth, please help me prozak..... i'm sure some have noticed how 'cranky' and 'snappy' i have been posting the last couple of days.... i am sorry..... life on my peaceful farm has gone to hell the last week with the noise of constant loud bangs from 'scareguns' that have been placed around our property to keep the ducks off the rice crops..... i have had very little sleep as the noise echos inside my old brick house 24hrs a day!......
so now that i have had my rant, i ask the question.... (in the family guy style).
what grinds your gears????????.

Contribution of Franz books on your decision to leave?
by Damocles inthe recent resurrected topic on franz' books got me curious.. how much did his writing contribute to your decision to leave?.
for myself, it was another brick in the wall but not more important than any other.
i was a little different than most in that i regularly read anti-witness stuff from the very beginning and never stopped.

I'd already left when I read the books; couldn't have done the other way around. Before reading CoC I still had a tiny thought tucked away that "they" might be right. Franz's books resolved that and I was quite devistated at the actions of an organization I would have died for a few years earlier.
