Phew!! What a relief to know that I wasnt the only person who wanked during the "meatings", sat through public talks
stoned out of my head, broke into the KH for a prank and got jiggy with it at the KH. The only thing I'm really embarised about
is that I would swap purses and wallets of anyone who was stupid enough to leave stuff in their pockets and then leave them hanging in the
cloakroom...Mind you, it almost caused a fight between two sisters

, what do you think ............ 1) will a jw parent allow their son/daughter date someone who is not a jw ???.
2) will a jw parent allow their son/daughter marry someone who is not a jw ???.
3) will a jw parent allow their kids to socialize with other kids after school or weekends ???.
My older sister was dating an Elders son. We were invited to Sunday lunch to meet his family.
During dinner the Elder made a joke about me being the first black person he's met that doesn’t like bananas.
Later on in the evening, he "joked" that if his son married a black person, she'd end up looking like a fat mamma.
Coming from a black family and growing up in a predominately white congregation I can't answer the question of "Are JW's
Prejudice???", but I can say that at least 50% of my congregation were. Maybe its not the same everywhere else, and maybe things have
changed since, but I'll never forget the subtle abuse be encounted on a weekly basis. Espcially from the older members.

Your post reminded me of a little incident that happened just before I left the Dubs. There was an Elders daughter who was 17 years old and who happened to be interested in a young black brother who was 20 years of age. When things started getting serious (ie they would go on the field service together – chaperoned of cause) the young sisters father approached the young brother and told him to keep away from his daughter. After two weeks of constantly asking the Elder why he was no longer allowed to see his daughter, the Elder eventually wrote him a letter stating that his daughter was too young to date, and should be using her energies praising Jah. He also mentioned that even though he had no problems with blacks, mixed marriages never work!!
Within a month, the young sister was ENGAGED to an older (nearer the fathers age!) brother who happened to be a good friend of her dads and who happened to be a Ministerial Servant!
They were married, pregnant and divorced within a year.
i have read many stories here about those who have been disfellowshiped.
they express the pain of the experience, and the emotional trauma they experience.

How about when you've done nothing wrong, but get kicked out on hearsay? I was diss'ed when an Elders daughter said she "might have seen" me smoking. They didn’t even have ONE witness, let alone two eyewitnesses!
When I questioned it, I was told that I was being diss'ed because of my "unrepentant attitude" I was told it was my right to ask for separate hearing, but if I did, it would be much harder for me to return.
Funny how when a different Elders daughter was SEEN smoking by her own father, mother, and other family members (All JW's) he put it down to a silly phase she was going through. Nothing more was done about it.
I could reel off hundreds of examples where people have been diss'ed for nothing more than asking intelligent questions. They don’t tell you THAT when you're going through your baptism questions
what makes a normal evening for you?.
mine might be spending a couple of hours on the computer, eat something, maybe watch the sunset, maybe a phone call or two, some maintainence on my apt, rest.
i would consider that normal.. just before i go to sleep, i usually read some of a book.. ss

i found it funny how some people would literally underline just about everything in the watchtower magazine.
the more the magazine was underlined and notes were written, the more a person looked spiritual.. did it ever happen that you didn't read your watchtower magazine, and you underlined just about anything just to look as if you read it?.
I must admit, I was quite proud of pulling out my crisp virgin copy of the watchtower on a Sunday morning,

i think this is my first debatable topic.
for anyone who has experimented with recreational drugs or who knows about someone who has how do you think they can change you for the better as well as for the worse?
i know a few ways in which they really changed me, i was very shy and never felt compfortable around people until i had my first experience and felt totally unhibited around a room full of people (talking in retrospect) and i never forgot what that felt like - it opened my mind and i learned to become much more confident.

and at one point we had a full 6 piece rock band (with drums) rehearsing.
Even though I dislike the Dubs, I'm not proud of what we did. Its not nice messing with peoples
places of worship...but at the time..It REALLY felt good!!
i'm sure all of us were loyal at one time to the watchtower, believing in all of it.
(some of us probaly hated it from day one as well but, ).
