She would not want to be the cause for stumbling others or bring reproach on the Christian congregation
Thats the argument they use whenever they want control, but cannot find proper biblical council

For the love of a good animal
by Maverick ini just came back from nine weeks on the road and one of the things i do miss are my kitties!
my daughter calls, e-mails and writes me all the time when i'm away but the cats have a limited vocal range and are not big on writing!
but after they punish me for being away, any of you who have cats know what i am talking about, they warm up to me and it is nice.

I've never understood peoples love of animals. Maybe it's the way I was bought up where animals are used either for food, or to be used for some domestic task, but never to live in the same house as us. When I see people kissing their pets, it leaves me cold. However, my 5 year old daughter has been begging me for a cat since she was about 3, and reluctantly i've just bought her one.Even though it does nothing for me, (and its learnt to stay away from me...) I love to see my daughter getting excited when its time to groom or feed it.
Animals..? No thanks

Question: Beware the voice of strangers talk
by Water infor some unknown reason i decided to torture myself and attended the july assembly.
i found the talk "beware the voice of strangers" particularly interesting.
although it seems, according to my jw mother, that i got the wrong message from the talk.

Pardon my ignorance
by Ariell inwhat was the true motive for the wts joining the un?
what did they have to gain?
i've done research, but have yet to find an answer to my question.

How much money would they have been saving?
I imagine it would be negligible to a corporation that generates billions of dollars.

What do they do with all that cash?
by yxl1 ini dont understand why the wts doesnt donate some of its time and resources to charity.
surely helping others in need would classify as a (the) christian act, and would bring a good witness.
imagine peoples perspective of the wts if they helped financially with high profile disasters.

It still bothers me that they've got mountains of cash and yet we dont really know what the hell they're spending it on.

Another blinding post Blondie! Thanks for your time and effort. These posts are the main reason I continue to use this forum.
God sees the good "in" ALL without their having to turn in a time slip.

Did anyone else want to puke at assemblies?
by RoadDoctor inis it me or do others get absolutely sickened by the disgusting interviews given during circuit and district assemblies?
i mean, come on, how much more rehearsed are these little skits?
i always hated hearing everyone's "out of this world" field service experiences.

The DO said non-witnesses were corpses
The stupidity of the people who listen and apply this stuff never ceases to amaze me. What this DO is doing is judging non-JW as people that are already dead. Where the hell does that come from?!
"Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those persecuting you; that you may prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous." (Matthew 5:43-45)

I didnt miss anyone from JW land...Not one soul. I had problems making friends before and after, and felt that I didnt fit in with any group. Its been 10 years since we've left the Dubs and I still dont have many friends, but I've realised thats just the way I am. One or two friends is more than enough for me. I dont think it had anything to do with the Dubs. My wife on the otherhand has a huge circle of friends and enjoys socializing as much as possible. At least now she has true friends, something she felt she could never have while being a Dub, and she's never been happier, ..and because of that I'm happy coz she's my best friend
