OK, I actually Saw the Passion
by Yerusalyim injust came home from seeing...the passion...after the movie there was a question and answer session with two rabbis that viewed it with us...and three priests from my parish...more on that at another time...though both rabbis said in their opinion the movie is not antisemetic, but that it could (would) stir up antisemetic feelings in those who already possessed them.. the movie was an overall good one.
it was interesting trying to figure out some of the symbolism...what did the baby represent???
i think i know, but i'd like to hear mel's take on it.. pretty gory stuff, not quite what i thought it would be, but still quite yucky.

About the Programme What the World thinks of God is a unique BBC event examining the modern world's relationship with God. A major poll of 10,000 people in 10 countries has been carried out for the programme. And there are some startling findings about the current state of belief in Britain - and some surprising contrasts between other countries around the world. From our studio in London Jeremy Vine will bring together religious leaders, leading authors and thinkers in a uniquely global debate.
Contributors
In London Jeremy Vine's guests will include the Poet Laureate Andrew Motion, Pakistani politician and former cricketer - Imran Khan. Other guests from around the world include Cardinal Francis Arinze of Nigeria, Jonathan Miller - atheist and broadcaster, and world famous author Ariel Dorfman.
The voices of religious leaders, authors and celebrities from around the world will also be included in the programme. These include Shimon Peres, Tony Benn, Stephen Berkoff, Kate Adie, Jackie Stewart, and Simon Callow.IMAGES OF FAITH A series of images created for What the World Thinks of God Picture gallery Some of those taking part in the debate have written articles for this website and these are being published ahead of the programme.
Opinion Poll
The BBC commissioned ICM to poll in 10 countries - UK, United States, Israel, Indonesia, India, Mexico, Lebanon, South Korea, Russia, Nigeria. The 10,000 people interviewed have provided a unique insight into the state of belief in the modern world - in which countries are people more likely to go to church, where do they pray the most?
War Audit
What the World Thinks of God has also commissioned an investigation into war and conflict through the ages which asks to what extent religion or religious differences have been a contributory cause. The research has been directed by the leading authority on peace studies, Dr Greg Austin of Bradford University and the study will be published here at the website ahead of the programme.
How to watch
The programme will be broadcast on BBC Two on Thursday 26th February at 21:00 GMT. The programme can also be heard on World Service Radio on Sunday 29th February at 1306GMT.
Have your say
Over the next few weeks, before and after the programme, you can send us your views about the topics covered in the programme here at the website. What if satan were to change?
by robhic ini was wondering how this part of the bible can be taken seriously.
for thousand of years, it has been written down that satan will be thrown into the abyss along with his minions.
ok, so how incredibly stupid (is there even a limit?

yxl1
Ha! This always used to make me chuckle. If satan knew he was going to be defeated, then why not just do something about it? I mean, he CAN change. He was an angel, and then decided not to be. Whats stopping him from changing back. "Sorry god, but I really f*&ked up. Any chance of letting me back in?" He's either very stupid, or doesnt exist. I know where I stand on the matter.

As Sirona said:
What is the truth about christianity?
Personally, I spent 15 years studying the Dub-view of christianity. I then spent the next 8 years searching for a form of christianity I could accept. Finally I decided that its nothing more than a bunch of ancient morals/myths/tales/traditions bound together with the added "bonus" that people believe that god inspires them.
IMO, christianity and the belief in the bible, has pushed us further away from god. Until we move on from these ancient beliefs and start searching for god in our own way, we will forever remain in the darkages.

I was told to get rid of my Hulk comics by Brother Uphisownarse because it was satanic. They even tried to say that my reading them was causing me not to want to go on the field service. Satanic? When has Satan ever been described as a 9 foot, green man in purple pants? Maybe I missed that watchtower study. I wonder how many of them went to see the movie.

It's official
by Purple ini am the world's most uncoordinated person!
my karate teacher told me tonight that in all his years of teaching he has only ever been unable to teach one person to get to the first kata and he is determined that i will not be the second one.
oh how to imspire a person and build their confidence up!.

You go girl! Sounds like you're having a great time.
Just a word of warning. I used to do a lot of martial arts and there is nothing more annoying than someone who doesnt take it seriously and messes around. I'm not saying that you're that type of person, but it could be the impression that the other members have. I quit so many clubs because the process was slowed down by people not taking it seriously and slowing the whole group down. Its funny once or twice, but when I've paid me money, ventured out of my house on a cold evening, I dont want to be "entertained" by someone fannying around on the floor mats.
I've just re-read this post and I sound like a grumpy old arse...sorry, but it wasnt my intension
Have fun

...and you will be objects of hatred....on account of my name
by undercover inwitnesses love to use the scripture at matthew 24:9 where jesus says that, "and you will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name.
" as "proof" that since they are disliked by most of the world that they are in fact approved as god's chosen people.. isn't it interesting that people "hate" jehovah's witnesses not on account of jesus' name but on account of jehovah's?
so, technically speaking, jehovah's witnesses do not fulfill this prophecy.. later in verses 23-26 it says this: "then if anyone says to you, ?look!

" and YOU will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name."
In reality, thats not really the case is it? The "nations" generally dont hate the Dubs because of what they believe. They find them a little annoying and weird. I think this is another case of reading things that aint there IMHO.
