  What do I see Christians this way?

  okay, since leaving the witnesses and christianity.

  i have become very open to learning new faiths and religions.

  i have studied many and found something to be very interesting.

  Its always nice to see someone step out from the darkness of Christianity and organised religion. I made the same leap a few months back and would now consider my beliefs more deist than anything else.

  Christianity and Muslims, and the other major faiths of this world. Will be the straw that destroys humanity and not the one that keeps it together.

  Possibliy. But thankfully, mankinds reliance on organised religion is becoming smaller and smaller each year, and those still chained to the ball of religion are becoming less and less fanatical. Oneday, we'll see a day when religion doesnt have the power it now holds, and for mankind, it will be the start of a new world.

  Are You a Taker Not a Giver

  many posting here once would not accept a blood transfusion or give blood because of the wts doctrine.. having left that doctrine behind and being willing to "accept" a blood transfusion, are you willing (if able medically) to donate blood?.

  if willing to accept an organ transplant, are you willing (if medically able) to donate an organ, either as a live donor or when deceased?.

  if yes, to both questions, do you donate blood regularly?

  The Bible

  in the friends forum a topic was brought up about what belief made persons leave the organization.

  while certain witness beliefs did cause me to doubt, i think learning certain facts about the bible was what made me finally leave.

  i think it would be interesting, while controversial, to have an intense conversation about the bible and whether it is concretely true or not.

  The bible helps because it does show you glimpses of God

  I couldnt disagree more. My view is that it does the complete opposite. The Biblical version of God and his exploits doesnt really tally up. I just cant see a god who created everything would be that petty and small minded.

  Is the Bible actually mythology and how could this view be helpful to the reader? Can a person still be inspired by the Bible if he/she recognises that quite a bit of it is embellishment and mythology?

  Yes and yes. The gnostic view of the gospel accounts is more mythology than historical and yet they had no problem being inspired by its tales. People can be inspired by anything.

  Passing the time at JW Assemblies

  love_truth, in describing the utter dullness of jw assemblies and conventions, just gave me an interesting idea for a thread.

  what were some of the ways you tried to make the hours pass?

  some of mine: looking at the interesting refracting patterns the arena floodlights made on my eyeglasses when looking thru them at an angle.looking for people i knew from my congregation and others in the mass of people in the arena.counting the number of people leaving the section to go to the bathroompractice writing people's names in elvish scripthaving a conversation with friends a row behind me by passing notes back and forthseeing how many pages of my bible stick together when i slam a wad of gum in between its pages.. what else?

  Coming Out With Pride & Confidence!

  i have only been visiting this board for a couple months, but wow, how it has helped me!

  thanks to everyone who has shared information and their stories, given advice, listened, reasoned, confessed, vented, cussed, challenged and supported.

  i am formerly known as "hunyadi", but i made the decision to come out a few weeks ago.

  it's because so many work menial jobs!

  you put a jw in an office setting where everyone has to be well-groomed and he/she will blend right in (mostly).

  there was a little debacle a few days ago about jehovah is a dickhead and starts shit for nothing and kills his people.

  but there's a movie that was written and directed by kevin smith named dogma.

  Ahh Dogma. One of my favourite films. Always makes me laugh no matter how many times I watch it. And having <removed> as God at the end is pure genius.

  City City ... we're the pride of Manchester !!

  a classic derby moment, first in our new stadium and we stuffed man utd 4-1, ruining their title hopes and possibly saving ourselves from relegation.. are man utd on the decline?

  they are nowhere near the top in the league this season and were dumped out of europe too.

  all we need now is for arsenal to do them in the cup and they finish with nothing !!

  Wander around and check out sisters. Failing that, I'd daydream. After many years attending assemblies I learnt how to daydream for hours on end. The hours would just wash by and I wouldnt have absorbed a thing. Occationally I would be dragged out of my self hypnotic state when the seals clapped or laughed, but at that point I'd usually go for a wander, a spliff or a coffee.
