Dad flew home this morning
by Simon inmy dad has been over from canada for the past month and staying at our house.
it's been so good seeing him even though he's not in the best of health (he's not supposed to fly .
the kids have loved him being here and i was really choked after we said goodbye lastnight and our youngest, dylan, started crying saying he didn't want grandad to go home and insisting on sitting on my shoulders waving till the car was well out of sight.. they are both asking when they can go visit again.. i hate goodbyes and being separated from family by such a long distance.

Simon - It's rough trying to keep extended families together and once you've established this as a 'must have' in your lives then your more or less stuck. GO TO CANADA! The kids will enjoy a vacation.
We're 2,000+ miles from my in-laws (they're in S. TX) and 2 1/2 hours from my family. Prior to this I've been 3,000+ miles from my family for 6 years and it was always so strange to use up all my leave for visits 'home'. Now wer're looking for other jobs which can move us anywhere from Korea to Hawaii. After that move we might start looking into a final, non-mobile position and living arrangement either way it'll be near family.
Websites, snail mail, videos always help build the bridge between the months and if you children are old enough, make it a family project. I wish everyone could have their grandparents live down the street and their Aunts/Uncles right around the corner. Sure you couldn't get away with anything, but you knew where to go when thing got bad.

Great story and I had the lay person vs clergy question too. I really hope they don't get off on a tecnicality in stating their 'members' are not ordained etc... HEY should I remind my step-mom she really isn't minstering?! ANYHOW I'm finding that it's convienent to use the laws of man when it's in 'your (JW)' favor....

i told the woman right off i was 'apostate' and had no intention of changing it.
she kept asking me personal questions which i told her were none of her business and she said she would have the elders come by and i told her that if they came by the better be wearing bullet proof vests!

Rav - You are the only one who knows your limits. Stick to it and stay in touch with the police. Great job with that by the way and now I want to move to VA! ALSO - sorry for the post regarding the certified mail - reflecting on that made me a bit upset only because in a back aswards way you're validating thier beliefs by stating you're an apostate. You're still playing by their rules and there's no reason why you should be expected to do that. You've made a great new life for yourself! SO get in the groove with your Ying & Yang, your Chi and Phi .... whatever....and just enjoy your life. And don't forget the wine!

Should the U.S. Release Photos of the Hussein Son's?
by Funchback inmy *personal* opinion is that they should because the people of iraq will probably require some proof.
i don't have any interest in seeing the photos but i believe that their photos will spread throughout the internet and the news media and curiosity will eventually cause me to peek at the photos.
don't know why i would have interest in seeing a couple of lifeless bodies though.

I feel SICK! And should I say - un-American?! As a former soldier I find it extremely distasteful of showing dead bodies throughout the media. The majority of the Iraqi people don't read or get TV - this is to show the world. NEXT? I'm waiting for the public executions as a new reality TV show........ That's my story and I'm sticking to it. If people don't believe these two are dead, a photo won't help, DNA may, but then they'll be mayrters for the cause. I'm extremely disappointed in our governments decission to run this.................

Ravyn - Thanks for jotting down your experience and considering what you have been through and the brashness of this particular JWB*&%h you handled it just fine. In the long run would recommend Expatbrit's ides and have something in writing, make sure someone signs a certified letter and keep that info in your records. Flying off won't help your cause only because they'll use it as an example. Keep your head on and try not to allow a JW stranger feel like they're in control of your emotions and invade your life.
