My family doesn't even know (at least not from me) that we've moved 2500 km away to Spain. The last time we moved I've sent them all our new address and never heard a word, so why should I bother telling them anything? I don't feel like I'm shunning them, they're just of no interest to me anymore. And that's the result of what they've started in the first place with their shunning.

I find I am Shunning my family !
by Phizzy inalthough i really hate the wt/jw shunning policy, which especially huts those who have been df'd, i find i am in a kind of way doing it to my jw family.. i do not include them in anything i do, in my own family gatherings, and i cannot be arsed to inform them of things going on in my family, or to even go and see them, unless really necessary.. this all adds up to a kind of "reverse shunning", and i do feel a twinge of guilt about it, but it is simply how things have become.. do you, fellow faders, find a similar thing happening ?.

No more doubts for me! Good-bye JWN! We have THE TRUTH!
by DATA-DOG ini could go on and on about my personal journey over the last 2 years or so, but i don't need to.
everything i needed to hear to finally lay my doubts to rest happened on one meeting night.
it could only be divine providence.

I agree with joyfulfader. We've lost our house to the bank this year and before we definitely left it every time the doorbell rang was a moment of stress and fear of who might be at the door. So I can imagine that this couple is stressed out just from hearing the doorbell ring and the fear of opening the door to i.e. debt collectors. Of course it's not very nice to treat innocent children the way they did, but I know that fear can make you do strange things you'd normally wouldn't think of. Add the fact that they're JWs with the twisted believes around Christmas and their behaviour isn't as strange as it appears at first sight.
And it's a good thing this experience will prevent those children to ever listen to door knocking JW's in the future

JW CHILDREN GET PRESENTS ALL THROUGH THE YEAR. REALLY?????
by NAVYTOWN inis it really true that jw children get gifts 'all through the year', not just for christmas and birthdays like non- jw kids?
as stingy as most jws are, i find that very hard to believe.
plus the childhood magic of christmas and birthdays is totally absent in jw households.

In a way my siblings and I got a lot of things we wanted, but the downside was that it was always used against us. When you received a gift, you could easily loose it within minutes by a wrong expression on your face, a wrong word, something you did you weren't supposed to... So the toys and stuff were used as blackmail items.
I also remember that one day my parents bought a new stereo set. They offered me their old one, so I was thrilled. But then they asked how much money I had saved... and I told them that I had 100 Dutch guilders in my piggy bank, so I had to pay them all my money and then I got the stereo set with gramophone. When I left to be married at 18 I had to leave my stereo set for my younger siblings. My parents acted like it wasn't mine and because I was having lots of problems with them I didn't want this to be a new subject to fight about, so I gave in and left it (along with lots of other stuff that was mine, like my dollhouse, they just 'confiscated' it all). And I regret it up until today.
I've also had enormous trouble with my parents because I bought a record one day. I'd saved some money and I wanted to have it so badly, but I wasn't allowed to. So I went and bought it and told my parents that a friend had given it to me as a gift. But I was very bad at lying (still am), so my mother sensed that I wasn't telling the truth and started an interrogation... and finally I told them them truth and that they actually pushed me into doing it this way, since I wasn't allowed to spend my own money the way I wanted to.
So, yes I got presents, but did I really like it??? Hm... not really.

Christmas is WRONG!
by thesaint inyou all should be ashamed of your egotistical selves.
how can you leave god's organization to celebrate the work of satan the devil?
it just goes to show you how jehovah's christian witnesses are correct about how persons will leave the truth for their own selfish desires.. first off, christmas is a pagan holiday and it proves no spirit with the almighty jehovah and his son, the christ.

And a Merry Christmas from Spain also! Isn't there something in your neighbourhood, a choir singing Christmas carols or some other 'event' where you can join in and share the experience?
Wishing you all the best for 2014 and maybe you can send out Christmas cards next year, so people really know that you're up to it and want to join in in whatever they're doing for Christmas.

It's insane what religion is capable of... It's even more insane that they accuse children who fall asleep at school of being witches. I'm a witch and at night I sleep! Ignorant idiots!

New video of interviews with Famous active and former Jehovah's Witnesses
by jwfacts ini have put together a mash up of active and former jehovah's witnesses, including a number of interesting interviews.. http://youtu.be/ozwvh57erro.
as a side note, i hope it does not get removed for copyright violation, as software automatically scans for pieces of music and i have already received some violation messages.
the video does comply with fair usage laws, as the music is relevant to the commentary..

Great video. I feel sorry for Prince, he seems a nice and sincere guy but he let himself be fooled by the WTS like we all once were. I also still feel sorry for Michael Jackson who felt guilty during his first Christmas. And I don't know what I exactly felt when I heard the Williams' Sisters thank 'Jehovah' for their victory... thought it was kinda weird.
Really hope the video will remain online, I've enjoyed watching it.

No it didn't, I was df'd still thinking they had 'the Truth', I just couldn't handle the pressure anymore. Within a year I learned what's hidden behind the 'Kingdom smiles' and was glad I was free.
Great letter by the way, thanks for posting!
