  Our first Halloween was amazing

  not sure if this is the right forum, if not i apologize.. last night was our first halloween.

  i have to admit, the very idea that somehow it is satanic and that it makes bible god cry seemed immensely foolish as we prepared for it.

  my daughter was dressed as an undead witch and my son was dressed as thomas the tank engine.

  We're having our Samhain celebration tonight. Your story was so great to read CAA (your pumpkin made me laugh out loud because of the 'vomit'... hilarious!) that I really feel joyous and happy already preparing the house for tonight.

  I've just placed orange and black candles everywhere, bought a bouquet of flowers (for witches the Samhain night is the night where the 'veil' between the physical and spiritual world is the thinnest, so tonight I will call out to my ancestors to join us tonight in our celebration and I just love to have some flowers when we get visitors ), I've decorated my altar with leaves and nuts and a couple of pottery pumpkins, so it all looks great in our little Spanish house!

  And now I'm off to the kitchen to make some pumpkin soup and I also have to bake a cake. Busy busy busy!

  Hey Vince,

  I wish you well and hope to see you back again here. Really like your posts! And I think I understand the feeling about forums... been on a lot of forums, but sometimes it's hard to stay detached and don't take things personal.

  But in fact all it is, is just blacks signs on a white screen... the emotions triggered are inside of ourselves... And that's the only thing that matters: taking care of our own 'inner world', giving it the time and space to heal. Everything that happens outside can only have an impact if we allow it to. Some people get scared of a spider, but lots of people don't have that fear. What makes the scared people scared? The spider? NO, it's their own fears, thoughts, memories, anything coming from their own minds! The spider has nothing to do with it.

  Same goes for anything and everything in our lives that seem to come from outside of us and hurt us.

  That's what I've learned the last decade... change your inner world, then your outer world will change along!

  But don't take my word for it, if it resonates with you just give it a try. If it doesn't, then just ignore me

  no birthday celebration after all

  new boyfriend is upset bc an old boyfriend when i was a teenager is on my fb friend list and wished me a happy birthday.

  was supposed to go to turkish embassy for cultural celebration.

  my first birthday in years, and total freaking meltdown.

  First I agree with the previous posters, a boyfriend being that jealous about someone from your past doesn't deserve your love!

  And I also like to say that in a way you're right, birthdays aren't always that special. Don't make it a bigger thing than it is! Sometimes birthdays are a blast, with lots of fun, laughter and happiness... and sometimes they just suck. My husband's birthday last year was a great party with his family and our friends who all came to visit. This year his birthday was just not so good... *understatement*... All our friends and family are far away now that we've moved to Spain, and we had a lot of stress to deal with so we took it out on each other and that way his birthday was nothing but a disappointment. (My own birthdays are never special... I still have a problem celebrating them other than having a dinner and a glass of wine with hubby).

  So like I said, birthdays can be a joy, but don't get your expectations up too high or you'll be disappointed.

  And you know what? Before you know it another year has passed... time for another birthday

  Irony: JWs who refuse to answer their door on Halloween!

  with halloween fast approaching, it struck me looking back how ironic it was when the worm turned every year on halloween, when jws turn off the porch light, draw the curtains, stumble around in the dark, etc.

  when the worldlies come to knock on their door, lol!.

  on the other hand, i remember the family escaping from the fortress at dusk to go to a movie, bowling, etc.

  Oh yes, I recall... doors shut, lights off and silently hiding untill all the kids were gone again. I always felt so stupid doing that!

  Last year I dressed up as a witch, had lots of candy and decorated the front door with a devilish laughing and moving (electronic) witch doll with lit eyes... Soon as the kids rang the doorbell I opened the door, clapped my hands and the witch doll would start her laughing... hahahaha, the looks on those little faces! They loved it and didn't want to leave, just clapping their hands over and over again to hear that laughter...

  I don't think we'll see anyone this year, since we're living in the outback now... But instead we'll have a wonderful Samhainparty, just me and my hubby.

  i am still a jw.

  i cant give any more details than this because of my family members who are devout jws.

  i cherish a larger picture in my heart without anybody knowing ittrue worship means love and compassion, (luke 10:25-37) not belonging to any organization or having a set of belief system!

  ...to my boyfriend, we're going to have one of those weddings ('gay' weddings to the straights).. although my jw family know i'm gay, and not going to meetings, only one of my sisters has sussed the situation.

  but i think after 3 years it's about time i told them.

  especially if sometime in the future i'll turn up with a (gay) wedding ring.

  About my Coming Out...

  since my coming out publicly, i have received a lot of kind words.. i wanted to thank all of you from the depth of my heart.. .

  on the other hand, i need to make two things clear:.

  i'm often encouraged to use my position to create cartoons or stories for nickelodeon, etc.... i do not have that kind of fire-power.

  Being a teenager I wasn't allowed to sing the song from Irene Cara, "Fame"... because of the phrase "I'm gonna make it to heaven"...

  And 'bless you' after sneezing wasn't allowed either, toasting with a glass of wine wasn't and congratulating someone with their birthday wasn't allowed nor receiving birthday wishes on your own birthday. Oh and don't forget the New Year's wishes... I recall when I was seventeen working at an office and the new year had just started. After a couple of days off we came back in the office and everybody started shaking hands and kissing each other and wishing each other their wishes for the upcoming year... and I just stood there, nearly paralized, hands behind my back, sheepishly smiling and praying they would leave me alone. It was all so embarrassing...
