  after some considerable thought i have decided that i will no longer post on this forum because i want to return to jehovah.

  thank you for all the kindness and many interesting discussions over the years.

  first off, if you are in an abusive household and don't have the means to leave, you need to get help immediately.

  contact the police.

  they have resources to help you, especially if you have proof.

  I could write a book with stories just like that and worse.... actually I've literally started writing it, just to get all that crap out of my system. My husband read the first pages and he had a horrible time because of it. For the very first time he really understood how abusive, in every possible way, the home was in which I grew up.

  i took a hot bath this morning.

  then, after making my bed and saying "good morning" to my roommate, sana--i jumped on my bike and headed off to breakfast.sound exciting enough for you yet?

  haha, great story Terry. Just be careful that you won't become too vulnerable for religious people... you might encounter some JW's one day and God knows what they could tell you... :P

  My mom passed away yesterday....

  I'm so sorry for your loss, Perry. My condolences to you, your wife and kids. Must be hard to tell them this... and hard on you that you had to find out this way.

  It's unbelievable how heartless many JW's have become towards people outside their group.

  My thoughts are with you, can only try to imagine how you must feel... so sad.

  hi all, been a while since i posted here.

  i am in australia and heard paul grundy being interviewed by someone on abc radio in sydney.

  it was good to put a voice to the guy on jw facts.

  Leaving the org and marriage possibly ending

  i was raised a witness, baptized at 16, vacation pioneered, got married, etc.

  i was very much your typical witness and believed it was the truth until last summer.

  a very close relative of mine left the witnesses.

  Relatives of mine have managed to stay happy in their marriage, while the man has faded. The elders came to their house one day, and the man was well prepared. He gave them a list with questions to answer and his promise that he would return to the kingdom hall if they could give him satisfying answers. That was over ten years ago, they never came back and he has never returned to the hall. He and his wife never talk about religion, he became a 'born again christian' but he kept a low profile, never celebrated holidays or birthdays. His wife is still a very dedicated JW. Their only child is allowed to make their own choices, although the woman of course tries to influence that, but the man is showing the other side of everything, so there's some sort of balance there.
  
  Bottomline is: it is possible to successfully fade and keep your marriage intact, but only if you're willing to give in on things like holidays. Total freedom of speech and doing what you want is not in that package... So it's the question for you, atacrossroads, if your husband and marriage are worth that price!
