Calling all Bilingual Spanish-English speakers on this site for a project!

as some of you may know, i am latino.

there are around 2 million jw's who speak spanish around the world, and i want to reach them with the truth about "the truth" (also known as ttatt).. here's the two main problems with ttatt in spanish:.

1. i have not seen a site like www.jwfacts.com in spanish at all.... 2. even if there was a site like www.jwfacts.com, 95% of the spanish-speaking jw's won't have access to wt publications earlier than 1970. .

I am a Portuguese speaker, and we do account for 800.000+ WT bots. Although it's not the same language, we can benefit from the Mutual Intelligibility that exists between our two languages.

I honestly think these resources might prove useful, they're all worth reading:

Please spend some time looking at those websites as they're pretty extensive content-wise. I believe most of it will be intelligible to you, but you might use the Google Translator to translate the whole website in case it starts to be complicated. if you had the pleasure of hearing the watchtower today what a good way to cover their tracks right after the am!

so if their is any doubts they will scare it out of the rank and file!

i have to give it to them they did their best to plan this out along with all the new light i guess it was to trya and stop the internal bleeding.

That even looks like a confession from the governing body!!

the aforementioned website contains images taken from WT publications that contain or suggests some trademark products.

This is called Product Placement or Embedded marketing... pretty much the same thing as the Pepsi scene on Back to the future 2...

it is a very widespread technique that benefits both the advertiser (by means of an agreement with the product owner) and the owner of the advertised product (by having more exposure)

Indicetj is implying that the WT might be promoting, although secretly, some products... and along with that, some $$ might have come.

I've taken the liberty of extracting these images for comparison:

Given the circulation of these mags, this argument could sound at least plausible...

Hi to all!

I'm a still 'active' JW living in southern Brazil.

I was born to JW parents so I had been raised as such. My father has been a JW since he was little but my mother became one after they got married.

I have been following lots of websites dedicated to exposing the lies that lie () behing the WT curtain. I want to share my experiences and thoughts with others while I seek to rescue my entire family from the WT organization.

My entire family is inside this cult as is my wife's family; all good-standing. I myself am seen as good-standing and am being encouraged to increase my door-to-door activites in order to be indicated as a ministerial servant.

I'm still actively participating in activities along other JWs (going out for a movie or a restaurant, travelling together...)

I'm still with my stealth mode on!

My biggest concern, and the reason for not having dropped already, is to be shunned by my family as they are really devout. If any of you guys have suggestions on how to better approach them with 'sensitive' material, I'd be thrilled to be enlightned!

I have always had good confidence of being in the 'thruth', but sometime ago it just became clear to me that something was wrong.

I think that the turning point for me was when we started seeing the 1995 generation teaching changes, the credit-card payment option at assembly halls, the imposed change of the song book (which by the way suck bad in Portuguese; the previous songs were written by a brother who was a composer and a kind of a poet; this new one is simply bad) AND finally the dawn of mass communication via our beloved Internet!

Keen to participate as much as I can on the forum. As soon as I get more time, I'll post more detailed info on my story... man I've got stories to tell..

i am not sure how you all feel as we all left at different times for different reasons.... but this new bible seems to have put some final nails into a coffin that was once my jw life.

the religion is so far and so different to the religion i grew up in that it has become something i feel no affiliation with anymore, no bond, no shared ideas or even sentimental views.

different teachings on when the end is coming.

Hey Snare I second you post! Although I live in a totally different country, I can assure the feeling we had here was about the same you described... same memories! Oh those "Book study" Tuesday nights.... it makes me nostalgic mainly because of the friends we had back then

i know this is old news, but as i sit here, and ponder the upcoming agm, i can't help but think, " what happened?!!

" i actually awoke an hour before my alarm went off, just thinking of everything that is bothering me about the wtbts.

approach this list as a born-in, someone who was told that you were different from everyone else.

IMHO the organization has become too corporate-like. I mean, the feeling we had several years ago of brotherhood and uniqueness and thrilling of having Biblical thruths has been replaced by a feeling of systematic personal scrutinization; report collecting, good-standing maintenance and competition to have more privileges.

IMO it didn't start as a cult or high-control group but it definitely turned into one. my 2 cents

They really messed it up! The editor should be disfellowshipped for such a blatant error!

Just so you know, since the JWs arrived in Brazil in the early 1920s we've been using Jeová; perhaps some regional 'new light'? lol

Hello to all! My first post here! yey!

IMHO all JWs have this 'common sense' that it is fair to give a donation for this 'precious gift'; at least where I live people would definitely donate.

I also think they made this move in order to take off the spotlight from the fact it's been 100 years since 1914...

I downloaded the PDF from the jw.org site and found that on page 1743 they've listed Jehovah as being Iáhve in Portuguese. As being a native Portuguese speaker and still 'active' JW I can assure no one here uses that, we simply say Jeová.... It is never mentioned on WT pubs neither at speeches/preaching.

Anyone using this term would definitely be called upon. Unacceptable to be pronounced inside the KH... for sure!

Iáhve is mainly (rarely) used by some christendon churches.

I seems that this revised release is in need of some revision already! lol

(Btw: if there is any kind of "introduce yourself" section here, I'd gladly tell you a little about me)
