  i've been out of the organization for quite a number of years, and still feel that uneasy feeling that was washed into every cell of my being by wt indoctrination since birth.

  never seems to go away completely, does it?.

  i use to feel the need to talk about my experience in the organization to others, to worldlies, and they never quite seem to understand.

  Jewish and also Buddhist.

  LOL, I really can't speak to what harmony, contradictions or conflicts that might present in a practicing JewBu.

  I am no longer in. Going back to the KH is, for me, is merely an exercise in irony and mischieviousness for myself, and the gift of insight for my friend.

  I've been out of the organization for quite a number of years, and still feel that uneasy feeling that was washed into every cell of my being by WT indoctrination since birth. Never seems to go away completely, does it?

  I use to feel the need to talk about my experience in the organization to others, to worldlies, and they never quite seem to understand. Talking about it often seemed to sabotage my efforts in connecting with other human beings and forming friendships. I learned to talk less about it and become a student of what those without religious indoctrination do in order to start and cultivate relationships with other human beings. I'm getting more adept at this art. I sometimes falter, though, when doubt and that nearly intangible something akin to PTSD starts going off like alarm bells in my brain.

  I finally made a wonderful friend who loves me so much that she is quite curious and wants to understand how my experience in the cult has shaped who she sees standing before her. Have you ever been getting to know someone and there is a topic broached in a conversation in which you find yourself looking at the other person as if peering across a chasm of experiences, or knowlege, or understanding, and you have to stop and insert something about your religious upbringing in order explain why this common experience shared by every other person is missing from your frame reference? I've rarely had to do that with her. She is always drawing me out like some wonderful therapist/friend with genuine interest, care, and attention.

  We recently took a trip together to Washington DC, and while standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, and somewhere between talking about history and politics, she asked me what the experience of going to the Kingdom Hall was like. I joked that my description would make the experience seem innocuous and mostly typical of religious meetings. She asked how I would feel about going taking her to a meeting. I asked how she would feel about going? She is a JewBu. She really wants to check it out. I am taking her next Sunday.

  when my friend, the middle child of 3 siblings, was five years old, his mother took him by the hand and led him to the house where his father was having an affair with another woman.

  His mother is a nasty selfish narcissistic bitch who cares for no one but herself. M is basically unloved, scapegoated and used, his normal boundaries broken down early. No remotely decent mother would treat a helpless child so badly, set him up for the kind of failure he is now recycling in, then make it all about herself. The fact M's brother molested him is the sign of a dysfunctional toxic family and NPD 'mother, IMHO.

  I just want to add that M had receive a partial scholarship to attend college in NY for marketing and business. He really wanted this opportunity to get out of his mother's house, out of the town he grew up in, and try and use the momentum to move beyond his challenges with sex/drug/alcohol addiction. I watched her sabotage his efforts to get there. He needed another loan she would not co-sign for (neither would his dad), but she did cosign a loan for the older brother who squandered the opportunity and ended up in jail. He ended up more depressed for missing this opportunity and his pattern became more frequent.

  It's like the mother gets some sort of pleasure or gratification from rubbing out any and all self-esteem and confidence that ever tried to take root in this young man. She clearly wants to keep all three of her children dependent on her emotionally. The kicker is that not only did the older brother sexually abuse M til he was 13, but he had also been having intercourse with the baby sister for an indeterminate length of time. The older brother is the prince of the family.

  M is now 20.

  He is not a prostitute as wrongly surmised, but has used internet hookup sites to find older men to have sex with who will also get him high on meth. He has a history of drug abuse since he was a preteen. Marijuana since he was 13, alcohol and prescription pill abuse which lead to a dui a year ago, and he contracted HIV when he was still in high school from having unprotected sex with much older men.

  I am much too close to the situation to do any real good other than keep encouraging him toward proper counseling, and perhaps the right kinds of meds for chronic depression and persistent anxiety that he is currently self-medicating for.

  He went to his mother a few months ago to tell her about the sexual abuse by his older brother and she denied any knowledge or seeing any signs of this ongoing abuse, and then sort of relegated his feelings to the doormat she wipes her 52 year-old prom queen feet on. She claims to be the victim of emotional and physical abuse by her ex-husband, M's father, and remarried to a man who is spineless and keeps his head down while she rules the roost.

  While the children were growing up, she hosted drinking parties for all of her children and their under-age friends and thereby fostered the use of substances in her home, but now objects to M's use of substances since it does not include just drinking, but pot and meth. She makes threats, but never does anything to help her son.

  To my knowledge, the mother knew the following- the husband was in the other woman's home. The mother KNEW her husband was there cheating (if not actually in the act), and she took her son along knowing there would be a confrontation between her, her husband, and the other woman. It seems calculated and deliberate to have had the little boy, M, in tow.

  In talking with the mother in recent days, she related how when this particular child, M, was born, she took it very personally that the infant did not want her to hold him. She talked about how the infant would cry when she tried to hold him and wouldn't stop crying until she put him down, and how deeply hurt she felt that he wasn't like the older brother (four years older) who felt safe and comfy in her arms. The older brother, btw, began molesting M when he was around the same age of 5, and the molestation continued until M was around 13. After that, M subsequently began trolling the internet looking for sex and drugs with much older men. The practice has continued to this day.

  I mean first of all, it is clear to me that this is a very self-centered woman who wanted her husband to feel shame for not just being caught, but also suffer the guilt and shame of his little boy witnessing this transgression. She wanted her husband to pay for his infidelity, but she was willing to injure the little boy and make him pay a price just to inflict shame on the husband.

  AGM - has it been rolled out to all Witnesses

  my wife has been pretty inactive with the folks who have been trying to get her to study going on about nine months now.

  just recently the last gal she studied with has been calling her and trying to get her interest again.

  the congregation she had attended was a spanish speaking congregation and i guess i am wondering (actually thinking) that the renewed zeal is a bump from the agm.
