i stopped attending meetings over one year ago, and i have thoroughly made it clear to all friends & family that i am opposed to the teachings of jehovah's witnesses, and i cannot support a religion that teaches lies.. i have systematically examined each teaching & practice of the jehovah's witnesses.

concluding that many are not scriptural or logical.. after a year i have very unexpectedly arrived at another conclusion.

the jehovah's witnesses do have the truth.

here is my current viewpoint..

I have attended Jewish Synagogues, Independent Unitarian Fellowships,Messianic Fellowships. I have researched many more Religions.. My conclusion, is that there are untruths mixed in with Truth Everywhere.. When I researched the Old Testament, and the Torah I realized that there truly is nothing new under the Sun.. Men love to control one another, and they all teach False Doctrine.

Some scriptures that I believe are important :

Hebrews 10:25 " not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." ESV

Hebrews 3:13 " But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin."

Hebrews 10:24 " And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,"

Proverbs 18:1 " Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment."

SO It is in our best interest to associate with Fellow God Fearing Individuals with Good Morals, BUT if EVERYONE teaches false Doctrine, how can we rectify this? We have to choose someone to fellowship don't we?

It's my opinion that the Apostles continued to Attend the Jewish Synagogue after Jesus ascension,and because they were all "cast out" John 16:2 , because of their adherence to Christ as the Messiah they were forced to start Home Congregations, eventually becoming Christianity.

Perhaps his Is the Path? Stay in the JW org, until one is cast out, and then start a Home / Small fellowship.

1 john 5:1 says everyone (not just special people) but everyone who believes that jesus is the son of god is born of god.

born of god is the same thing as born again.

the jw theology is so easy to refute i dont see how anyone can read the whole nt and still be one..

yogosans14 - Take a look at the Wording in Revelation 7 9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

Notice that the "Great Crowd" is also standing Before The Throne, and they have already Gained their Salvation.

As you know.. the WT teaches that the Great Crowd does not Gain Salvation until the 1,000 Year Reign Ends.

We were Taught as Witnesses, "Reject All False Teachings!" , "There is only one True Religion" and so on. These Teachings breed Hate & Intollerance towards others Beliefs.

To respond to this statement "being part of that which isn't true is problematic." I disagree to a Certain Extent.

1. Jesus Attended the Jewish Synagogue for Most of His Life. At that time, they were Absolutely Teaching False Doctrine, as well as Man Made tradition that was Contrary to God's True Word.

2. Paul supported False Religion, and he even Murdered righteous men in Support of that Religion. - Jesus chose him, because of his Heart Condtion.

3. No one, teaches Truth, anywhere in the World. I believe that Jesus wants us to Remain in the Church that we are in at the time of Being Called .1 Cor 7:17 " Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches." (My opinion, what are your thoughts on this Scripture?)

Dis-Member - I came to this Same Frustration.. " Does not then belief itself become ridiculous and pointless? "

One thing that Frustrated me so much are the scriptures that say some thing like "If you have Faith in Jesus, you will have Everlasting Life" But What does this Mean.. What is "Having Faith".

When I decided to stop Obsessing over Knowledge & Doctrine and Rather started to Study Jesus life and the Way he Treated people, I started to Understand what God has Given us.

John 3:16 - " For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

To Believe means Nothing.. But To Believe Jesus, and Follow His Example means Everything. This is the Truth.

When I began Striving To Do instead of Know, is when I started to Understand God & Truth much Clearer.

Acts 1:7 - Jesus did not Answer their Question.. If I were to ask you, "Will you be Going to the Store Tomorrow" and you Replied, "Don't worry about that, it's none of your Business" The Result would be the same, if I had never asked the Question.. Jesus did not answer, he Just let it be and allowed them to wonder.

declares Jehovah. “I will put my law within them, and in their heart I will write it. And I will become their God, and they will become my people.”" If God is writing his law within people's hearts, how would it be possible to write errors and inaccuracies? - God's Laws are His Statutes,Commandments,Regulations and Not Scriptural Doctrine relating to Prophecy,Chronology and Historical Interpretation..

As Much as an Individual Immitates the Life of Jesus, this Person is Following God's Laws.

If any organization claims to have the truth, then that "truth" changes, and people are expelled, excommunicated, disfellowshipped for not believing their current version of truth, then how could that organization possibly be God's organization?

If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers ... thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die. - Deut 13:5-10

Relating to Deut 13:5-10 - JW's equate the Organization as being "God's Word" .. so their practice of disfellowshiping, is in line especially when you consider that the Israelites, stoned someone for almost anything.

Deut 21:18 - " “If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they discipline him, will not listen to them, 19 then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gate of the place where he lives, 20 and they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This our son is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ 21 Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall purge the evil from your midst, and all Israel shall hear, and fear."

Lev 24:16 - "And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him."

Along the Lines of "The Light gets Brighter" and Changing things.. The Israelites were Very Guilty of this Same Thing.. See Jeremiah 8:8 " “How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us’? But behold, the lying pen of the scribes has made it into a lie."

A Side Note - I do not Believe that God ever Commanded these Stonings or any other Atrocity that the Israelites added to his Perfect Law. I do believe the Israelites had Evil Tendencies, the same as every other Human in History and they Added these Regulations to God's Laws.

If almost any idea can be proved from the BIble how on earth do you decide what you belive in?

This is My Approach -

1. If the Scripture Coincides with God's Love / Power / Justice / Wisdom it is True.

If the Scripture Contradicts these Attributes - I don't understand it Properly, It was Translated Wrong, It is a False Scripture.

Crazyguy - That is where the Issue lies, any teaching can be Proven with the Bible.

The Trinity is True - There are several scriptures that "Prove" that the trinity is True.

The Trinity is False - There are several scriptures that Prove that the Trinity is False.

HellFire - Same Thing.

Virgin Birth - Same Thing.

Death of Christ - Same thing.

Pretty Much Any Theological Teaching Can Be Proven & Disproven using the Bible..

I believe what I Believe, but Who am I to Judge some one on what they Believe?

Leaving_quietly - I'll first respond to this question " How is it that two presumably intelligent people have done "objective" research and came to very different conclusions?" - You and I Have not come to Different Conclusions. We both Personally know that Many of the teachings are false.. The Conclusion that I have come to is, there is Biblical Support for each Witness Teaching & Practice.

I'l express a few arguments from the Witness Point of View Regarding 1914.

1. For Every 50 Dates that point to a date other than 607 BCE there are 2 Secular, non Jehovah's Witnesses Sources that point to it.

2. Jesus Apostles continued to be wrong on several things, and Jesus never corrected them.. Example Acts 1:6 , they were expecting the Kingdom to be restored to Israel at that very Time.

3. With in "Gods Organizations" there have always been Errors & Innacurate Prophesies. - Deuteronomy 18:22 "when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him." This scripture is spoken to Gods Chosen people, The Nation of Israel, which proves there were False Prophets amongst the Israelites, the same as there have been among The Organization. The Scripture does not say "The Israelites will no longer be gods chosen people, it says do not be afraid of him The False Prophet (Individually).

BTW - If you would like to provide a few Arguments that prove that JW's do not teach the Truth as Found in the Bible, I will provide a simple contrary Argument .
