truth is truth and cannot change. He is admitting that your GB sometimes tells you things that are not true.

by awakening inhad a sit down chat with an elder who is aware of my doubts.
we were on the subject of new light, i was saying that if the org changes a teaching then the old teaching was wrong and cannot qualify as truth at the time it was taught, so where did the falsehood come from?.

You don't sound self centered to me. The teenage years are awful for those of us who have a sensitive nature. I hope you will feel better soon.

I have had many discussions on my doorstep with JWs about Satan and get the feeling that they worship him as a sort of god, like Molech etc. They say that he has supernatural powers and that God had to make a sacrifice to him in the form of Jesus suffering.

Overwhelming Fear of Death
by Perversion of a truth indo any of the posters on here deal with this?
i do, and i hate it.
people (mostly my brother) tells me to not fear death and just to enjoy life and so on, but that doesn't seem to help any.

I was fearful of death when young but found it got easier as I got older. I have the 'been there, done that' attitude now. I always wondered how old people coped with the knowledge that they would be dead in 2, 5, or 10 years time. With increasing aches and pains it does not seem such a bad thing now.. though I do still have quite a few years left, as far as I know. I do have a faith that I will be resurrected, however, but I'm not a JW.

devil
by caroline77 inwhy would god create the world, then and put a pychopathic malignant loony in charge, and then pay a ransom to get it back?.
that would make the jw god a bad judge of character, unable to keep his own staff under control, and the devil a complete loser.. where do these ideas come from?
i don't find it in the bible..

Humans used a hearth for fire and cooking 300,000 years ago!

summary:.
when did humans really begin to control fire and use it for their daily needs?

A lot of us have neanderthal DNA, so they must have been human.

I find this interesting and puzzling. Does it mean that humans have not evolved in the last 300,000 years?

Should Creationism Ever Be Taught In Schools?
by nicolaou inthis is taken from the bbc's sunday morning show 'the big questions'.
i was going to pick out a few highlights but really, you need to watch the whole thing - it's only 23 minutes.
seriously, i could feel the bile and frustration rising in my gullet .

I had a very broad education and was taught about various peoples beliefs including creation, evolution and flat earth etc. I was interested in the thought that people thought that they would fall off the edge of the earth if they sailed too near. It gives more intelectual flexibility to be able to understand other people's ways of thinking, then you can select the ideas which seem most logical.

Resurrection without a soul that survives death.
by Pronger1 inone thing (among many) that always bothered me about jw teachings is what happens to the soul when we die.
sure god could be capable of creating a body and implanting it with all of our life experiences an memories.
but how would not be a just a clone instead of being actually us?
-
caroline77
I understand that cells die and are replaced all the time, so where is the 'me' that existed 10 years ago, or 20 years ago etc.?
I am a clone of those me's.
My consciousness is electrical discharges in those cells.
