Most of us here want to warn you about how the meetings and WT are damaging to you. We have all in some way been abused by the WT organisation. We are not bitter, we just want to protect you from harm. You have been brave to post here well done.

moSIS, how was the COs meeting? Did you learn anything useful or meaningful? Do you really want to become a Jehovah's Witness someday in the future?

Would Your Family Stone You to Death?

ot law required jews to take the lead in stoning a family member who became apostate.. the watchtower has lamented the fact that the law of the land now forbids them from doing so.. if the law permitted it, as it does in some musim countries, and if the watchtower required it, would your family obey?.

my parents are good people and i believe their love for me is genuine, but i think they would follow orders.. what about yours?.

While we were still married, I was convicted by a JC for reviling (speaking out against DV). If my husband at the time was ordered to stone me his response would have been, "thank you it took you long enough to order me" he would have gladly stoned me, this religion is perfect for him. My kids on the other would not have stoned me. My daughter left because she would not shun me and my son is fighting for his right to stop attending meetings.

My parents were never JWs.

Is there anything from the GB that isn't about them getting Money and Power?

since i woke up from the delusion of the jw cult, i have seen things very differently.. it seems to me that all the gb and their suck ups gear up for is money and/or power.. eg.

brothers in cheap salesman suits on the platform.

the 'clean' image.

Good thread, yep all about the power and money. They have to devise "nulite" to keep JWs hooked because their prophecies are failing. That's how they keep thier power and generate more money. Kate xx

Shepherd the Flock Book - Did Your Wife or Other Family Member Find It?

those of you who served as elders, did your wife or other family members / friends find your secret shepherd the flock book?

I was curious about it when I was a JW sister. I never saw one but refered to it loads when talking to elder friends. I would say things like "Does it say something about that in your elders book?" Some used to refer to it when we spoke of specifics. One even said to me it's all about love, he was a loving elder and stepped down after a while.

After I read it my curiosity was satisfied, and I realised why a lot of things happened they way they did. IMO it's all about keeping JWs in line and oppressed, they use the term "keeping the congregation clean". Puke, vomit and clearly loaded language to try and fool elders into thinking they are doing good. Some relish in the power and others step down when they realise it's all a facade, I don't think that many are actually fooled.

25 year old farzana iqbal was stoned to death by a crowd led by her own father and two of her brothers outside the high court in lahore yesterday.. her crime was to reject her cousin, who her family had decided she should marry, and fall in love with a man of her own choosing.. thousands of women are murdered every year in so-called "honour killings" but convictions are very rare.

pakistani law permits victim's families to forgive a murderer, but in these cases the killers are family members who are nominated to carry out the execution by the rest of the family.. this is what happens when you allow a mysogynistic religion to influence secular law.. reuters report...l.

Good point Hampsterbait, I suppose at the time I was concerned if my daughter had understood what had gone on and recognised it was wrong. She had of course. Maybe in the future, I am armed better now. Hindsight is such a wonderful thing.

Their sons are trained to think they are better than their duaghters, they are like power driven robots, making all their female family members bend to their will.

Until Muslim boys are raised to understand that women are their equals in every regard this will continue.-cofty

I agree, we also need to train our boys in the western world, there is still a lot of sexism here in the UK, especially in reagrds to prosecuting men for DV. I am addamant that my son does not become a sexist wife beater. But I need the professonals to act on what has happened and what he has witnessed to help instill that men cannot get away with violence and oppression against women. His dad is still taking him to sexist JW meetings, I would hate to think of him being indoctrinated to feel he is superior just because he is male.

Ahh thank you so much, she has said some really nice things to me over the years and nice things about me to others too. I feel appreciated after 21 years. I also feel appreciated by my son after 12 years of being his mother. They are very open with kindness and gratitude.

Defo a photo op for visiting JWs, I agree with everyone who posted that. The common bond of cult unity and realisation it really is world wide.

We saw them at Oxford Circus train station, but I didn't speak to them because my daughter gets anxious and I promised her I would only speak to JWs when I wasn't with her. Surprisingly she was infuriated when she saw a Wt on the floor in the tube station, so much so that she took a photo of it. Just shows that the mags they place just get thrown away. Kate xx

Such sexist Laws, it only seems to be the women that are charged. The men can beat their wives and girlfriends and sisiters and daughters, they never get charged, but if a woman fights back against these oppressive Laws, they are charged, killed, or even put to death by the state.

It looks good for the Sudanese prisoner that she may escape the death sentance, sadly it looks like she is facing jail time for a long time though because she has broken the law, albeit an unjust law. I am inscensed.

Sadly a few seeking asylum in this country sometimes marry a man from their own culture and still have to endure oppression. I want to do more, I have applied to volunteer at Asylum link and the CAB, I really hope I can make a difference in a womans life, even if it is only one woman. Every woman counts.
